Chapter 18 Infirmary

"Is he... is he dead?" a girl asked in a low voice in horror.

The Ravenclaws who witnessed this scene suddenly developed a great fear of flying lessons, especially Michael who had been talking nonstop before.

He looked at the figure lying in the grass with a pale face, his voice trembling: "Is... is it my fault?"

Wade patted his shoulder and said comfortingly, "It shouldn't be a big problem - he didn't fall on his head."

Michael's throat rolled and he was speechless.

Fortunately, Madam Hooch ran over to check and quickly helped Neville up from the grass - thank God, the boy only had one wrist, which looked a bit strange. Madam Hooch helped him to the infirmary and loudly warned other students not to move.

"V-Vader..." Michael pleaded, "Let's go see Neville."

Wade glanced at the other students standing on the grass, nodded, and the two of them quickly ran through the corridor to the infirmary.

"--flying lessons, right?" Through the door, they heard Madam Pomfrey, the school nurse, say in a familiar voice: "Every year at this time there are always some accidents among the first-year students. I can't think of a year that was peaceful--"

Wade gently pushed the door open, and Michael was the first to squeeze his head in.

Neville was seen sitting on the bed in the infirmary, crying. Madam Pomfrey held his arm and gently waved her wand to check. The tip of the wand emitted a feather-like light.

"Then I'll leave this student to you," said Madam Hooch anxiously. "There are still more than 20 students on the lawn with their unattended brooms! Oh, if it weren't for the time being, I really should ask Mr. Filch to keep an eye on them!"

Madam Pomfrey said, "Yes, I will--"

Madam Hooch was obviously an impatient person. She turned around and left in a hurry after hearing "OK". The door suddenly opened and Michael stumbled in.

Seeing the two students, Madam Hooch's eagle-like eyes immediately stood up, as if she was about to scold them, but then she noticed their blue and bronze ties, and her anger subsided.

Since they were not students who had sneaked out of her class, Madam Huo Qi had no time to care about them and walked away quickly.

"--Take good care of the child." Madam Pomfrey said the rest of the sentence as if she were talking to herself. She gently comforted Neville who was crying: "Don't worry, it's just a small problem. We can cure it in no time. I promise you won't miss dinner tonight."

Madam Pomfrey waved her wand and a potion flew down from the shelf. She made Neville drink it, then pointed her wand at his arm and whispered a spell.

It seemed like just a blink of an eye, and the boy's broken wrist was reattached. Judging from his expression, Neville didn't even feel much pain.

Wade was amazed.

"What about you, children?" Madam Pomfrey turned to look at the two people at the door and asked, "Injured? Sick? Or have an upset stomach?"

Michael pursed his lips and said nothing.

Vader had no choice but to say, "Madam Pomfrey, let's go see Neville."

"Oh, you're here to visit a friend!" Madam Pomfrey was a little happy to hear that. She said, "Mr. Longbottom just needs to rest for a while. When his bones have fully grown, he can go back with you."

"Thank you, ma'am," said Wade, and Neville followed suit.

After Madam Pomfrey left, Vader asked, "How is it, Neville? Does your wrist still hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt much." Neville shook his head and lifted his robe. He could see that the scratch on his leg was healing quickly. "Look, this side is almost healed too. Madam Pomfrey's healing skills are really amazing. This might be the case with St. Mungo's."

"St. Mungo's?"

"It's the largest magical hospital in Britain, and all the best healers are there," Neville said.

Michael walked over slowly and whispered, "Neville." The boy looked up at him.

Michael lowered his head in shame. "I'm sorry, I lied. I've never ridden a broom before. The tricks I told you were also heard from the radio. I myself have no experience myself -"

Neville blinked.

"I know!" he said.

"Huh?" Michael's eyes widened in surprise.

Neville explained: "Hermione said that you couldn't be so excited about flying lessons if you were used to riding a broomstick."

Michael's face suddenly turned red - did everyone see his frivolous talk?

"But Hermione also said -" Neville continued: "What you said is all right - it's also written in the book. But flying is not a skill that can be mastered just by knowing the theory, right?"

For some reason, Michael suddenly felt like crying.

Vader watched the scene with a smile.

Originally, he felt that these classmates were more or less "taking care of children". But at this moment, Wade felt that... maybe they could really become good friends.

……

Although Madam Pomfrey easily healed Neville's wrist, it still took a long time to wait for the bone to heal. Michael was unwilling to leave Neville alone in the infirmary because of guilt, and insisted on waiting until he was fully healed before going to dinner together. On the way, they encountered a staircase that changed direction, causing them to walk twice as far as usual to get back to the Great Hall.

In short, by the time they returned, the last dessert on the long table had disappeared.

"Oh, no." Michael said with a bitter face: "I should have some candy in my dormitory-"

"Hi, Michael, Neville, and Wade." Theo and Ryan came over. They had been friends since childhood, and after going to school, they were almost inseparable like conjoined twins.

"We heard that Neville had an accident during his flying lesson." Theo looked at Neville with concern: "Are you okay?"

"Broken wrist -" Neville held up his arm to show him, "but Madam Pomfrey healed it in no time."

"That's great." Theo said happily, grabbing his arm and looking at it.

"Have you had dinner?" Ryan asked. "We didn't see you guys just now."

"No!" Michael looked at the two of them pitifully and asked expectantly, "Did you two leave some bread or something for us?"

"No - but it's better than that!" Theo pulled Michael out of the auditorium: "Come with us!"

"Where are we going?" Neville asked confusedly.

"We'll be able to see it soon! This is a secret known only to Hufflepuff students! A senior student told us the day before yesterday." Theo said excitedly.

"I dare say that nothing can be hidden from the Weasley twins," Michael said to Wade, who nodded in agreement.

They passed through a door and walked down a stone staircase to a wide stone corridor. The corridor was brightly lit by torches on both sides of the wall. There were many decorative paintings on the walls, just like other places in the castle, but there were few people in the paintings, only various kinds of food.

Theo stopped in front of a large painting of fruit, reached out, and gently tickled the pear in the painting.
