Chapter 58 Nosy
Emperor Qing sat upright in his study, looking at the test paper and frowning slightly.

After an unknown amount of time, Emperor Qing, who had remained silent, finally smiled. A hint of joy emerged in his eyes, but was quickly replaced by a hint of sadness.

"It's well written, but too idealistic. It's not mature enough and needs some temper." Emperor Qing gave a brief comment, the first half commenting on the text and the second half commenting on the person.

The minor flaw could not conceal Emperor Qing's good mood at the moment. He smiled and wrote the score on the test paper, the short and powerful words "A-A".

"Your Majesty, President Chen requests to see you." Eunuch Hou bowed his head outside.

Emperor Qing replied calmly: "Announce."

Chen Pingping pushed his wheelchair into the study and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty, I pay my respects to you."

Emperor Qing did not even raise his head, still pondering over some of the words in the test paper, and said without looking away: "Chen Pingping, you come to my study quite often."

Chen Pingping nodded and answered without missing a beat: "It is the duty of a minister to be loyal to His Majesty."

"Oh?" Emperor Qing glanced down and asked, "What's the matter with this trip?"

"Your Majesty, the case has been solved." Chen Pingping nodded.

Emperor Qing was slightly surprised and sneered, "If you hadn't told me, I would have almost forgotten that this kid has a murder case on his hands. He is not an innocent person."

"After tonight, I will be innocent." Chen Pingping replied with a smile.

"Liao Yu was involved in human trafficking, and the evidence is irrefutable. The eldest son of the Minister of Justice was also involved. After the incident, Liao Yu wanted to fake his death to get away and use it to harm others, but he didn't expect that he would fall into the Minister's eldest son's plan to kill him and silence him."

Chen Pingping narrated the case in a concise manner.

Emperor Qing pondered for a long time.

"Mr. Huang, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, also made great efforts in this case. It was thanks to his clues that I was able to solve the case so quickly," Chen Pingping reminded.

Emperor Qing did not hesitate any longer and said in a deep voice: "The Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Justice, Huang Qiao, has worked hard and made great contributions. He has solved many troublesome cases for me over the years. It is time for him to be promoted."

Chen Pingping raised the corner of his mouth: "Just right, so that the Minister won't accuse me of stealing his credit again."

Emperor Qing looked at Chen Pingping steadily and asked, "Chen Pingping, you don't have a good relationship with the six ministries, why are you still worried about these things?"

Chen Pingping was terrified and said strictly, "It is one thing that the relationship is not good. I will never care what outsiders say, but I must not let Your Majesty lose a talent of the Empire because of these small disputes over fame and fortune. If so, I have no words to say to Your Majesty."

Emperor Qing smiled indifferently and said, "If everyone below us were as self-aware as you, I wouldn't have to worry about it every day."

As his thoughts flashed, Chen Pingping said, "Didn't Your Majesty just accept a self-aware scholar?"

Emperor Qing said disdainfully: "The biggest problem with scholars is that they are too naive and too self-righteous. They are far from enough at the moment."

"It won't be like this once you enter the officialdom, for example, Grand Secretary Lin." Chen Pingping said respectfully.

Emperor Qing suddenly frowned, hearing the hidden meaning in the words, and stared coldly, "Chen Pingping, what do you want to say?"

"I beg Your Majesty to send the child to the Supervisory Council." Chen Pingping bowed.

"Such a literary talent should be sent to the Supervisory Council, Chen Pingping. I see that you don't have any gray hair, and you don't look like an old and confused person." Emperor Qing accused sharply.

Chen Pingping lowered his head and said softly, "I have read that article on state policy and strategy. It shows that he is a master in both civil and military strategy. In the current situation, training him in military affairs will help Your Majesty to play a greater role." Emperor Qing stared at the minister's eyes and suddenly became angry. He flipped the memorial on the table and scolded, "Get out and don't come to see me for a month."

"Your Majesty, calm down."

Chen Pingping's face froze, and he said goodbye and walked away.

After walking out of the study, Chen Pingping, with a rather grim look on his face, suddenly saw a woman whom he rarely saw.

"President Chen." The eldest princess bowed politely.

Chen Pingping nodded and responded with a smile.

Just as she was about to leave, the princess's gentle voice rang out, "Why did Dean Chen make His Majesty so angry?"

Chen Pingping sneered and said to the scheming woman in front of him without any smile: "Didn't the princess hear everything? Why are you still asking?"

The princess hesitated slightly, feeling aggrieved and puzzled, "Shouldn't such a great literary talent stay in the court to serve?"

"There is Lin Ruofu in the court. He will be able to solve many troubles for your majesty in the future. There is no need to mix in another person of the same nature. Lin Ruo, as a child, should come to the Supervisory Council."

Chen Pingping surprisingly explained to the princess, and no one knew why the dean acted so rashly today.

"What are you doing here?"

Seeing the princess, Emperor Qing was slightly startled: "How many times have I told you that managing the inner treasury is what you should do, and don't meddle in these government affairs."

"Your Majesty, is there something wrong with what my sister did?" The eldest princess' body trembled and she was about to cry.

"If it weren't for my sister's letter of accusation, how could I have threatened Ruofu and Shu Daxueshi, and helped Your Majesty win over such an outstanding student."

Emperor Qing frowned, squinted his eyes at his sister who pretended to be weak, and said without hesitation: "Don't think that I don't know the conflict between you and Lin Ruofu. If you really have this idea, I, your brother, don't have to worry about you every day."

The princess shook her head, still with an innocent look on her face: "My sister was in love with Ruofu in the first place, wasn't it also for Your Majesty to consolidate the power of the court? Could it be that Ruofu made Your Majesty unhappy?"

"He's very good." Emperor Qing slowed down his voice and said sarcastically, "I also agreed to let you get married, but you refused to marry..."

The criticism in Emperor Qing's words was very obvious. He thought that his sister always had some crooked and selfish motives that he could not see through.

"What did Chen Pingping tell you?" Emperor Qing asked again with a cold voice.

The princess wiped away her tears and answered truthfully: "Dean Chen said that it is enough for your majesty to have Ruofu in the court to handle government affairs, and there is no need for another person like him."

Emperor Qing was silent for a long time, and actually agreed with Chen Pingping's idea from the bottom of his heart. He smiled bitterly and shook his head, then he calmed down and turned back into a strict emperor. He thought that although Lin Ruofu was there, he had to let the child enter the court and give it a try no matter what.

He vaguely felt that although this child and Lin Ruofu had the same abilities and vision, they did not seem to be the same kind of people.

"The position of the Minister of Personnel has been vacant for some time. I will give it to Lin Ruofu at my discretion. If you have any conflicts with him, please deal with them privately and don't bring it up publicly."

Emperor Qing warned with a cold look.

He only hoped that his sister could manage the inner treasury well and retire when the time came in the future, instead of having other unnecessary thoughts and reaching out to places where she shouldn't.

(It will be available at noon tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't have any drafts saved. But tomorrow is Saturday and I will have a day off. I will set the alarm clock to 12am and write until 12pm. I will update as many chapters as I can. The pace of the plot will speed up later, after all, there is still a plot years later.)
