Chapter 38 Marketing Strategy
At noon, music was heard from the town church and the bells rang twelve times.

Major Browne, who had just arrived in the town, ordered a sandwich on the street and hurriedly ate it to fill his stomach on the way to the motorcycle factory.

Then he wiped the oil from the corners of his mouth and told the security guard his purpose in front of the factory gate.

Charles was a little surprised when he saw Major Browne: "Major, I thought you were already chasing the Germans!"

"No, Master Charles!" Major Browne's face was full of helplessness: "We are waiting for the tanks!"

After recounting what happened, he asked Charles worriedly:
“Have you been treated unfairly?”

"Those bastards actually kicked the inventor out of the tractor factory!"

"No, no!" Charles replied, "It is indeed a little unfair, but... this is more of a business!"

"Here's what happened!" Djokovic answered: "We were forced to sell the industrial property rights of the tanks!"

Charles looked at Djokovic in surprise. Although there was an element of "force" in selling the tank ownership, it could not be said to be completely "forced".

Djokovic gave Charles a look, meaning that he should say this, otherwise it would make those who support him feel frustrated.

Major Browne had no doubt about this. He could even guess what was going on. Anyone who had served in the military knew the dispute between the St. Etienne and Hotchkiss machine guns.

Major Browne's eyes were filled with anger: "I knew it was like this, those guys only care about making money and don't care about what will happen to the country, let alone the lives of the soldiers!"

Major Browne hesitated, then moved closer and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear: "Do you need our help? For example... a robbery?"

This was certainly not a mutiny. It was just a few soldiers who wanted to get rich and rushed into the capitalists' houses, robbed them of everything, accidentally injured a few people, and then fled.

Who cares about such things at this time?
"No, Major!" Charles refused without thinking: "We have found a new way out!"

"A new way out?"

"Tell me about the current situation!" Charles asked back: "Do you really need tanks? I mean, if I give you tanks now, can you use them?"

Major Browne thought about it for a moment, then shook his head: "It may not be useful. It is too slow and will never catch up with the retreating Germans!"

"That's what I mean!" Charles replied, "Tanks are good for attacking, but not for chasing the enemy."

Charles stepped aside and showed the sidecar to Major Brownie: "I think you need this more!"

Major Browne looked at the three-wheeled monster in front of him in surprise. He looked at it for a while before recognizing it: "Is this a motorcycle? You added a wheel to the motorcycle?"

"It's not just the wheels, Major!" Charles said. "See the support next to the side wheels?"

Major Browne's eyes lit up when he found the pillar: "Is that for our machine gun?"

"Of course!" Charles replied, "but we can't provide you with machine guns..."

"No, no, that's not important!" Major Browne looked at the sidecar and answered excitedly: "We just won a battle. We have machine guns, plenty of them!"

It was a machine gun captured from the Germans, a Maxim that was much better than the French Saint-Etienne and Hotchkiss machine guns.

The French soldiers were not familiar with this type of machine gun, and considering the problem of ammunition replenishment... German bullets were different from French bullets, and the most likely result of mixing Maxim machine guns in the army was that they could not be replenished after the bullets were used up. Therefore, most of them were left behind as trophies, including the bullets.

"Perfect!" Charles said, "If it's Maxim, we can also add an ammunition rack in the back so that we can carry more ammunition!"

Major Brownie nodded excitedly. A vehicle-mounted heavy machine gun could also carry a lot of ammunition. He seemed to see himself driving the vehicle forward and firing at the enemy.

After looking at it for a while, Major Browne asked, "How many of these cars do you have?"

"One!" Charles answered. "Only one at the moment!"

Major Brownie, who was originally full of energy, suddenly became like a wilted cabbage: "Master Charles, we need at least 50!"

Charles turned his gaze to Guillaume, who understood. He thought for a moment and answered for him: "I'll find a group of workers to modify the existing motorcycles. We can produce a hundred in a day. After all, it's just adding a few pillars and installing a wheel!"

"Great!" Major Browne cheered up again: "One hundred vehicles, enough to equip my entire battalion!"

Major Browne's Third Battalion has only about 200 people left. Assuming three people per truck, 100 sidecars can carry 300 people, and the remaining capacity can be used to load ammunition and supplies.

"What are we going to do?" asked Major Browne.

"Bring your men here, they need to learn how to drive here!" Charles replied.

"Okay, Master Charles!" Major Browne responded, "I'll bring them over right away!"

However, he stopped after taking a few steps, with an embarrassed look on his face: "But Master Charles, we don't have the money to pay for this..."

"Don't worry, Major!" Charles responded generously: "All of this is free. You and your men risked your lives to defend France. Of course, I can't ask you to pay!"

Major Brownie opened his mouth to say something, but finally stopped, saluted Master Charles properly, and turned away.

After Major Brownie left, Deyoka complained, "Charles, we don't have much money left in our account. If this continues..."

"I know, father!" Charles interrupted Djoka, "but every penny we spend can save many lives, so it's worth it!"

Djokovic nodded silently.

Uncle Guillaume beside him was so moved by these words that tears welled up in his eyes. He took a few steps forward and stood in front of Charles: "Don't worry, Master Charles, we have other people who will help you accomplish this together! This is not just your job!"

As he said this, Uncle Guillaume rode away on his old motorcycle. He was going to call on his former co-workers to return to the factory to work, and to find those who were useful.

Looking at Uncle Guillaume's departing back, Dejoka murmured: "We cheated him, isn't that a bad thing?"

Ciel replied: "As long as our purpose is right, there is nothing wrong with it, right, father?"

Djokovic nodded silently.

This is a marketing strategy agreed upon by Charles and Djokovic.

Sending a batch of sidecars to the troops will make them realize the importance of motorcycles, and then the sales of motorcycles can be quickly expanded and even their prices can be increased.

At the same time, this will also help Charles' reputation among the military and civilians!
