Chapter 551 The Ancestor of Middle Vehicle Buddhism! Our Buddha does not save those without affinity
Chapter 551 The Ancestor of Middle Vehicle Buddhism! Our Buddha does not save those without affinity, nor does he save the poor!
The grand spectacle of ten thousand Buddhas paying homage at Luofu Mountain was so immense that it shook the entire Three Realms.
Within his seven-colored Buddha light, besides the seven spider guardians belonging to the seven emotions, they are now clearly beginning to ascend to the level of Bodhisattvas.
The one who attracts the most attention is undoubtedly the white-robed bodhisattva riding a dragon.
Because that was none other than the Dragon-Headed Guanyin, or the Dragon-Riding Guanyin, one of the thirty-three manifestations of Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Although Guanyin Bodhisattva does practice Mahayana Buddhism, this does not prevent her from having an incarnation that follows the Pratyekabuddha lineage.
Since she was an incarnation, the Guanyin riding the dragon naturally came under the command of Luofu after the appearance of this Buddha-like being in Luofu.
Even though Guanyin Bodhisattva is known as the teacher of the Seven Buddhas and holds a special position in Buddhism that surpasses that of countless ordinary Buddhas, in terms of legal principles, her incarnation as Guanyin riding a dragon is under the tutelage of Luofu, a Pratyekabuddha.
Luo Fu, the instigator, sensed the arrival of many Pratyekabuddhas and couldn't help but look at the Guanyin riding a dragon beside him.
The Guanyin riding a dragon, as an incarnation, is indeed very similar to Guanyin Bodhisattva, but she does not hold a jade bottle and willow branch in her hands. Instead, she has a dragon as her mount, not a lotus platform.
The Buddha Ruzhen manifested in Luofu also sat on a lotus platform with white lotus and red stamens. Moreover, his Buddha image was surrounded by the innate Yin and Yang energies of black and white, which proved that the Yin and Yang energies had indeed been refined into Luofu's own essence and spirit, and were completely integrated with his nature.
Like Kong Xuan's Five-Colored Divine Light, it is impossible for anyone to take it away. It is even less likely that a ridiculous magical artifact like the Golden-Winged Roc's Yin-Yang Two Qi Bottle would be created, where the Yin-Yang Two Qi would be completely drained once a hole is drilled in it.
This grand pilgrimage of ten thousand Buddhas lasted for seven days, from the appearance of the seven-colored Buddha light to the appearance of three thousand Pratyekabuddha lineage practitioners, before gradually dissipating.
When the World-Honored One Tathagata descended to earth, he took seven steps around the world. Similarly, when the True Buddha of the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle, Luofu, ascended to the position of Buddha, he also manifested for seven days.
After everything settled down.
Countless people throughout the Three Realms began to head towards Ruzhen Temple.
The Jade Emperor, the supreme ruler of the Three Realms, dispatched Venus, representing the Eastern Emperor, the ancestor of the scattered cultivators of the Three Islands and Ten Continents of the Xuanmen Taoism. He also sent his disciples, the Three Stars of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity. On the other side of the Underworld, the Fengdu Emperor and the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha also sent the Eastern Peak Emperor to pay a personal visit.
In a short period of time, Luofu, the Buddha Ruzhen who had reached the Taiyi Golden Immortal realm, had become a hot topic that surpassed even the Journey to the West team.
Luo Fu received all the guests.
Despite the fact that Luofu Temple previously hosted the "Ten Thousand Buddhas Paying Homage," which shook the Three Realms, the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, even though it was given the Middle Vehicle Buddhism by the two Western Saints who held their noses, is considered on par with the Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhism.
However, within the entire Buddhist system, Pratyekabuddhas of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle are extremely rare.
Just as the Eastern Emperor held a high position and special status in the Taoist sects and the Heavenly Court, yet his presence was not particularly noticeable, so too was the True Buddha of Luofu.
The Great Emperor Donghua established his own territory on the Three Islands and Ten Continents, while Luofu could only claim the title of Ancestor around the Ruzhen Temple and within his own Ruzhen Wonderful Dharma Heaven.
The Pratyekabuddha lineage under his command also lacked the power to support Luofu in gaining greater influence.
The sudden appearance of a true Buddha would affect far more than just the legitimate powers in the Three Realms.
Those monsters who ruled over the mountains in Xiniu Hezhou were the ones most affected.
In the Western Liang Kingdom, at Poisonous Enemy Mountain, inside the Pipa Cave.
The alluring and seductive female demon will cause trouble for the Journey to the West team in the future. Before descending to the mortal realm as a demon, she even inflicted a painful blow on the Buddha in the Western Paradise, a scorpion demon.
After the extraordinary phenomenon of ten thousand Buddhas paying homage, which lasted for seven days, dissipated, a decision was finally made.
Although the Scorpion Demon was determined to plot against Tang Sanzang on the journey to the West, she understood that Tang Sanzang and the westward journey were matters of great concern to the Buddha, the World Honored One, at Mount Ling in the Western Paradise.
The risks of plotting against Tang Sanzang are very high.
Now, a Buddha-like figure has suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Of course, the scorpion demon had to prepare for both possibilities.
He instructed his maids and servants to prepare a generous gift.
Before the westward-bound party arrived at the Women's Kingdom of Xiliang, the Pipa Spirit set up a cloud of demonic mist, carrying generous gifts, and headed west towards Ruzhen Temple.
Not only the Scorpion Demon, but also the Red Phosphorus Python of Seven Absolutes Mountain, the Nine-Headed Insect of the Green Wave Pool of Chaotic Rock Mountain, and the Leopard Demon of Misty Hidden Mountain—these monsters without powerful backers, including some monsters who did not appear on the journey to the West, all prepared generous gifts and, if not personally, sent their subordinates to Ruzhen Temple.
For a considerable period of time, this newly emerged Buddha Ruzhen in Luofu will undoubtedly be the focus of attention in the Three Realms.
Those monsters who have no backing, no background, and who desperately want to achieve enlightenment will certainly not let such an opportunity pass them by.
Don't assume that Buddhism is really strict with its rules. On the journey to the West, which of the monsters with powerful backers wasn't a man-eater?
In Buddhism, cannibalism is not considered a serious sin. It's not even a sin.
Of course, this refers to survival, not torture or killing, or merely satisfying one's appetite.
After all, Buddhism emphasizes the equality of all beings. Humans are beings, and so are demons. This is why the Buddha could justifiably belittle the Tang Dynasty in Jambudvipa and praise Aparagodaniya.
Who can blame them when Buddhism itself stands on the principle of equality for all beings?
Even the Bodhisattva Guanyin, who is known for her great compassion, keeps goldfish in her pond that eat people.
The reason these monsters dared to prepare such generous gifts and go to Ruzhen Temple was precisely because of this.
Buddhism is not the orthodox religion of Taoism. The religion of the Supreme Sage is based on humanity, while other schools, unless they are of human origin, mostly do not consider monsters eating people to be an unforgivable sin.
Luo Fu did not harbor any hatred or resentment towards these monsters who came to him of their own accord.
After all, he now holds the status of a Buddha. Theoretically, as the patriarch of the Middle Vehicle of Buddhism and the leader of all Pratyekabuddhas, he cannot stand on the side of any species and regard a monster as utterly wicked simply because it eats people.
However, Luo Fu would not open the door wide enough to take all these demons who came to him into his True Wonderful Dharma Heaven.
Especially the Scorpion Demon, who was personally chosen by the Buddha.
Even if Luofu wanted to take in this monstrous creature whose poison even the golden body of the World Honored One Tathagata couldn't withstand, he would still have to consider the face of the World Honored One Tathagata.
The Scorpion Demon was inherently unruly and dared to offend even the Buddha to the death. Her licentious and vicious nature was no less than that of Sun Wukong in his prime.
As someone with rare innate supernatural powers, who was able to cause the Buddha to suffer a silent loss even when she was still at Mount Ling, the Scorpion Demon was indeed quite talented.
However, her true nature is also extremely difficult to change. She is different from Sun Wukong, whose arrogance stemmed more from a lack of self-awareness regarding his own strength.
After being attacked by Buddhism and imprisoned under the Five Elements Mountain for more than 500 years, Sun Wukong, who finally escaped, would always treat those who were stronger than him with respect, even if he made some jokes.
Because Sun Wukong clearly understood the meaning of "heaven is high and earth is deep," but the Scorpion Demon was different.
The mere fact that Luo Fu possessed the innate supernatural power of "poisoning the horse" was not worth the effort of seeking favors from the Buddha.
Of course, although he did not intend to take the Scorpion Demon under his wing, Luo Fu accepted the generous gift offered by the Scorpion Demon without hesitation.
Don't think that Buddhists really regard money as dirt.
Of course, that's what everyone says, but in the Three Realms, the luxurious Buddhist sect is truly in a class of its own.
Whether it's the Western Paradise, Mount Sumeru in the South China Sea, or other abodes of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they are all extremely luxurious. Even the building materials, if you just pick up a brick, would be comparable to the finest jade in the human world.
How can you save all living beings if you don't have money?
The Buddha does not save those who are not destined to be saved, but besides that, the Buddha does not save the poor either.
However, if someone is poor but has a connection with Buddhism, then a powerful Buddhist monk might not mind using that connection to achieve his own goals.
For example, the Green Ox Demon, with his Vajra Bracelet, effectively blocked the path of the westward-bound team.
Especially in the case of the Green Ox Demon, the Green Ox Demon, as the mount of Laozi, truly had the upper hand.
The Green Ox Demon didn't actively capture Tang Sanzang and the other members of the Journey to the West team. Instead, he used his illusion magic to create a luxurious pavilion, which was then captured by Zhu Bajie and the others due to their greed.
This one-horned rhinoceros king was one of the very few who was not defeated by anyone. Instead, through a secret deal between Laozi and the Buddha, Laozi intervened and quelled the calamity.
In Luo Fu's view, accepting the scorpion demon's generous gift was nothing. At worst, when the scorpion demon was about to die at the hands of the Pleiades Star Lord, he would step in to save her life and personally deliver her to the World Honored One, which would be considered doing a good deed for money.
Aside from the Scorpion Demon, there was also the Red Phosphorus Python, which could barely be considered one of the monsters in the Journey to the West, but it didn't even have the right to personally meet Luofu.
Regardless of Luo Fu's cultivation level, which is only that of a Taiyi Golden Immortal, in terms of status, he is the ancestor of the Middle Vehicle Buddhism in Western Buddhism and the source of all Pratyekabuddhas.
We can't lose our class.
What level is the Red Phosphorus Python? Calling it a monster would be an understatement; at best, it's just an anomaly that can't even fully transform into human form.
It should be noted that all the monsters that appeared on the journey to the west, even those like Little Drill Wind, could still barely maintain a humanoid appearance unless they were killed directly.
The only exception is the red phosphorus python, which couldn't even maintain its humanoid form.
It's a miracle that one could trek all the way from Qijue Mountain, where one cultivates, to Ruzhen Temple.
Such a level of cultivation would make it impossible for Luo Fu, the Buddha Ru Zhen, to personally intervene.
Compared to the Red Phosphorus Python, the countless disciples of the Pratyekabuddha lineage who have now traveled from the Western Paradise and their respective blessed lands to Luofu are far more worthy of Luofu's attention.
At least now Luofu is the ancestor of Mahayana Buddhism.
They can be considered the leading figures of the Pratyekabuddha lineage. Since they have established their authority, it is equivalent to an independent organization. These original Pratyekabuddhas should naturally be formally recognized and attain enlightenment here in Luofu.
While formally establishing the Pratyekabuddha lineage, Luofu Temple certainly did not forget the elders of its Ruzhen Temple.
Like the seven spider demons, who were originally seven fairies banished to the mortal world and turned into demons, but after joining the Luofu sect, they quickly rose from spider demons to become the Seven Emotions Bodhisattvas. Now, as the Luofu market grows, the seven sisters have also been promoted to the Seven Emotions Bodhisattvas.
Although this Bodhisattva status is indeed quite weak in terms of strength, strength and status are not equivalent.
Otherwise, Sun Wukong wouldn't have rebelled against Heaven after becoming the Keeper of the Heavenly Horses.
It should be noted that Sun Wukong was already a Taiyi Golden Immortal back then, but in the Heavenly Court, without a proper official position, he could only be relegated to the post of Bi Ma Wen (弼马温).
In the Heavenly Court, many people with higher rank than Sun Wukong were no match for him in a fight. This shows that rank and strength are two completely different things.
The position of authority represents a powerful backer or an organization.
The seven fairies of their past lives, now the Bodhisattvas of Seven Emotions, their backer is none other than the true Buddha of Luofu.
After Luofu officially raised the banner of its own True Wonderful Dharma Heaven, it did not actually bestow titles and rewards indiscriminately.
For example, Guanyin Bodhisattva riding a dragon is definitely a Bodhisattva in the Pratyekabuddha lineage. Apart from these strong individuals who need to solidify the foundation of their own system, other Pratyekabuddhas are at most here in Luofu to obtain an identity.
Unlike Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhism, Pratyekabuddha is a Pratyekabuddha vehicle, which is part of the Middle Vehicle of Buddhism. Pratyekabuddha is a self-enlightened Buddha, a solitary Buddha. Many Pratyekabuddhas have different concepts and understandings, so they naturally cannot get along.
Luofu is not stingy when it comes to the positions that should be given, but it's all just empty promises. They only promise a Buddha, Bodhisattva, or Arhat status.
For the Pratyekabuddha lineage, now that there is a true Buddha like Luofu, the founder of the Middle Vehicle Buddhism, it is necessary to set a time for opening a Dharma platform and giving a sermon.
To put it in a more worldly way, the time for this Dharma talk is like holding a regular gathering, just like a congress, where all the Pratyekabuddhas gather in the Real Dharma Heaven to discuss the future development direction of the Pratyekabuddha lineage.
While singing praises and exchanging feelings with each other.
It's impossible that the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle already has the true Buddha Ruzhen, the ancestor of the Middle Vehicle Buddhism, while all the Pratyekabuddhas are still a scattered mess.
This time can be considered the grandest gathering of Mahayana Buddhism. It is enough that it was officially designated by the true Buddha of Luofu and acknowledged by the other Pratyekabuddhas.
After a brief exchange with these Pratyekabuddhas.
Luo Fu finally understood what the so-called origin of Pratyekabuddha was all about. Pratyekabuddha was indeed a Pratyekabuddha vehicle, but now, more than 80% of the Pratyekabuddhas in the Buddhist lineage were the three thousand mortals of the Jie Sect who were converted by the two Western Saints when the Great Tribulation of Investiture of the Gods was about to end.
Before the Investiture of the Gods, the Jie Sect was known as the sect with ten thousand immortals paying homage, and it was the only sect to hold power.
With the end of the Investiture of the Gods calamity, the three thousand mortals who were converted were mostly just there to make up the numbers among the myriad immortals. The highest among them were only third-generation disciples of the Jie Sect, and most of them were fourth or fifth-generation disciples.
