Chapter 582 Sun Wukong wreaks havoc in the Purple Bamboo Forest of the South Sea! Give me, Old Sun, an explanation!
Seeking help from Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva was the instruction given by the Heavenly Venerable of the Secret Name of the Five Extremes of War.

However, they were repeatedly turned away.

Completely lost and disoriented, Sun Wukong hid in the clouds in mid-air, sinking into despair.

The Three Realms are vast, and the predicament he faces now is no less dire than that of the terrifying monsters he once encountered; it's just that Sun Wukong's knowledge is somewhat limited.

They had no idea what happened during the Great Tribulation of the Investiture of the Gods.

However, just when Sun Wukong was at his wit's end...

A black wind carrying a hint of Buddhist light suddenly flew past Sun Wukong's eyes.

I saw that familiar beam of light.

Sun Wukong's eyes lit up immediately, and he quickly somersaulted after him, saying loudly, "You black rascal, instead of guarding the gates of the Bodhisattva's sacred site, you dare to descend to the mortal world in private?"

The black wind carrying Buddhist light abruptly stopped, revealing the form of the Black Bear Spirit.

Indeed, this black wind carrying Buddhist light was none other than the Black Bear Spirit who had been taken in by Guanyin Bodhisattva as the guardian deity of the mountain.

Seeing Sun Wukong blocking his way, the Black Bear Spirit said in distress, "So it's you. Why aren't you protecting Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West to obtain the scriptures? Why are you blocking my way?"

"You black-faced fellow, you still haven't answered me, Old Sun!" Of course, Sun Wukong wouldn't reveal his current predicament to the Black Bear Spirit.

You should know that Sun Wukong cares a lot about his reputation.

The black bear spirit gave a bitter smile and said, "The Bodhisattva went into seclusion the other day. I was not careful and the Bodhisattva's mount escaped from the temple. Now its whereabouts are unknown."

My heart tightened instantly.

The third one.

Although we haven't received any definite news yet, the journey to the West has already taken so long.

Sun Wukong knew perfectly well that many of the monsters blocking the way to the West had powerful backers.

Unfortunately, he hadn't even dealt with the monsters on Lion Camel Ridge yet, and now he learned from the Black Bear Spirit that even Guanyin Bodhisattva's mount had escaped from the temple again.

Suddenly stepping forward, Sun Wukong grabbed the black bear spirit's collar and said urgently, "You black rascal, wasn't the Bodhisattva's mount just captured?"

The Golden-Haired Roar, the mount of Guanyin Bodhisattva, was the very trouble the westward-bound party encountered in the Kingdom of Zhu Zi before passing through Pansiling.

In the end, it was Guanyin Bodhisattva herself who appeared and brought the self-proclaimed "Great Sage" back.

But how long has it been? How did the Golden Roar escape from the dojo again?
How could a Bodhisattva be so negligent in guarding against the mounts of his disciples?

The black bear spirit gave a silly, embarrassed look and said, "I don't know either. The Bodhisattva did bring that mount back just now, but... but who knew that I was careless and that the golden-haired roar quietly evaded my detection and disappeared from the temple without a trace."

Sun Wukong's eyes darted around, and he had already vaguely sensed that the two great demon kings of Lion Camel Ridge must be the mounts of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and Manjushri Bodhisattva.

Now that the Golden-Haired Roar has escaped from the dojo again, Sun Wukong has a feeling that the Golden-Haired Roar must be related to Lion Camel Ridge.

Thinking of the two times he had just been turned away, Sun Wukong said, "Don't tell me that Guanyin Bodhisattva is also in seclusion right now?"

With wide eyes, the black bear spirit asked in astonishment, "How...how did you know that?"

really.

In that instant, Sun Wukong completely believed his prediction.

A thought struck him, and Sun Wukong said, "You black rascal, I, Old Sun, might know the whereabouts of that Golden-Haired Roar!"

The Black Bear Spirit, without any suspicion, hurriedly said, "I would be grateful if you could give me some pointers, Great Sage. Otherwise, if the Bodhisattva finds out that I was negligent in my precautions and allowed the Golden-Haired Roar to escape from the temple, I am afraid I will be held accountable."

“No problem, no problem!” Sun Wukong readily agreed.

For Sun Wukong, the Black Bear Spirit had essentially delivered himself to his doorstep this time.

In fact, Sun Wukong is a very clever monkey.

Just like before, at Xiaoleiyin Temple, when Sun Wukong sought help and reinforcements from the attendant of the Buddha of the East, the Yellow-Eyebrowed King, but to no avail, he simply made a big scene, ultimately forcing the Buddha of the East to intervene personally.

Having learned from this successful experience, Sun Wukong now clearly intends to repeat the same trick.

Since the Bodhisattvas were using seclusion as an excuse, he decided to make a big fuss about the Lion Camel Ridge incident.

It always manages to force out the person who can solve the problem.

“I, Old Sun, am escorting my master on his journey to the West to obtain the scriptures. We encountered some trouble at Lion Camel Ridge. If I’m not mistaken, that Golden-Haired Roar has escaped from the Bodhisattva’s sacred site and will definitely head to Lion Camel Ridge.”

The black bear spirit is not stupid. Although he seems simple and honest, he is quite wise.

Sun Wukong's words were practically an open declaration that he was being used by the Black Bear Spirit, and how could the Black Bear Spirit not realize it?

Blinking, the Black Bear Spirit said, "Great Sage, please don't joke. That Golden-haired Roar committed a crime by obstructing Tang Sanzang before and was personally taken back by the Bodhisattva. Now that he has finally escaped, why would he make things difficult for Tang Sanzang again?"

“I, Old Sun, would never joke about such a thing with you,” Sun Wukong said seriously. “If you trust me, then I will come with you to Lion Camel Ridge to see if the Golden-Haired Roar has already taken refuge there.”

"This..." The black bear spirit felt that Sun Wukong was trying to trick him.

But at this time, there was no trace of the Golden Roar. Instead of wandering around aimlessly like a headless fly, he might as well go to Lion Camel Ridge to take a look.

Perhaps, this monkey really wasn't lying?

In the Black Bear Spirit's mind, he was now, after all, a guardian deity of the Purple Bamboo Forest who had attained enlightenment, a legitimate position that he had finally managed to obtain.

If possible, the Black Bear Spirit did not want to let his momentary lapse in vigilance lead to the Golden-Haired Roar escaping from the temple, being punished by the Bodhisattva, or even losing this hard-won enlightenment.

“Then I will go with the Great Sage to Lion Camel Ridge to find out what’s going on.”

Upon receiving the Black Bear Spirit's affirmative reply, Sun Wukong was overjoyed and hurriedly pulled the Black Bear Spirit towards the direction of Lion Camel Ridge.

Just as Sun Wukong had predicted.

In the short time since losing the Golden-Winged Roc, one of the three great kings, Lion Camel Ridge has gained another Golden Light Tai Sui, thus forming another group of three great demon kings.

When Sun Wukong coaxed the Black Bear Spirit to Lion Camel Ridge, the strength of Lion Camel Ridge had clearly reached or even surpassed its previous strength.

The Golden-Winged Roc is indeed very powerful, but his strength relies more on the Yin-Yang Two Qi Bottle and his own background.

In terms of sheer power, this suddenly appearing golden Tai Sui is clearly more compatible with the Green-haired Lion Spirit and the Yellow-tusked White Elephant than the Golden-winged Roc.

With the three demon kings united and a grand formation of 48,000 lesser demons, even an ordinary Grand Luo Golden Immortal might not be able to break through Lion Camel Ridge. As expected, the Black Bear Spirit, tricked by Sun Wukong, ran headlong into the Lion Camel Ridge team, which was even stronger than its peak.

Although the Black Bear Spirit could fight Sun Wukong to a standstill, how could he possibly be a match for the three demons of Lion Camel Ridge?
On the Lion Camel Ridge side, they didn't even set up any formations.

They utterly defeated the Black Bear Demon and captured him.

Seeing that things were going badly, Sun Wukong once again displayed his instinct to betray his teammates.

Sun Wukong ran away.

But the Black Bear Spirit was in big trouble.

It should be noted that the Black Bear Spirit's mission this time was theoretically specifically to capture the Golden-Haired Roar, who has now become one of the three kings of Lion Camel Ridge.

Having his magic powers sealed, and being held hostage by a group of lesser demons, the Black Bear Spirit arrived at the main hall of the Lion Camel Kingdom. He immediately spotted the Golden-haired Roar sitting on the throne.

"You beast, even if you catch me, once the Bodhisattva finds out, he will certainly not let you go."

Whether the Black Bear Spirit's words were a threat or meant to embolden himself, they elicited cold laughter from all three demon kings present.

Since they have gathered together, and the Green-haired Lion Demon and the Yellow-toothed White Elephant have even set up the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, they are definitely not just there to be tools for completing the Buddhist journey to the West.

In other words, too much time has passed since the great calamity of the Investiture of the Gods.

So long ago, even beings like the Black Bear Spirit were completely unaware that the Bodhisattva's mount in his eyes was a powerful cultivator who could rival the Bodhisattva during the Investiture of the Gods era.

Although the Green-haired Lion Spirit, the Yellow-toothed White Elephant, and the Golden-haired Roar were merely the seven attendants of the Tongtian Sect Leader during the time of the Jie Sect, and not his true disciples, as the saying goes, even a seventh-rank official is important before the prime minister's gate.

Being a servant or attendant doesn't necessarily preclude one from rising to a higher position. Take Haotian, for example; he was once just a servant of Dao Ancestor Hongjun, but now he has become the supreme ruler of the Three Realms.

Even if someone is a pageboy or attendant, it depends on who they are serving.

Before the Investiture of the Gods, even when facing the three great Bodhisattvas, the three of them would at most address them as "senior brother." It was nothing like now, where they were constantly being scolded. Even a mere black bear spirit that had only cultivated for a few hundred years dared to open its mouth and rebuke a beast.

After a cold laugh, the green-haired lion demon looked at the golden-haired lion and said, "Brother, this wicked creature is so insolent. Should we kill this wicked creature to avenge you?"

Golden Hair roared and slowly shook his head, saying, "We are brothers, and the day of our escape is just around the corner. It's best not to cause any more trouble now. He's just a worthless wretch who doesn't know the times. What's wrong with sparing his life?"

"Then we'll grant your wish, my brother." Yellow-toothed White Elephant casually ordered the little monsters escorting the Black Bear Spirit, "Take this black fellow away and don't let him escape."

After the Black Bear Demon was led away cursing and swearing, the Green-haired Lion Demon waved his hand and dispersed the monsters in the hall.

The three demon kings went straight to the mountain behind the main hall.

The mountain behind the main hall is not a real mountain, nor even an artificial one, but a portrait shrouded in a hazy mist.

The three demon kings stood side by side, bowing respectfully to the portrait.

The next moment, a ray of light appeared on the portrait, condensing into three words in mid-air.

Pratyekabuddha Vehicle.

Although they were full of doubts about these three words, the three demon kings still kowtowed to thank the portrait first. After all the strange phenomena on the portrait dissipated, even the characters formed by the flowing light in the void disappeared.

They then stood up. The golden-haired man frowned and said, "The Pratyekabuddha Vehicle is the true lineage of the Buddha within Buddhism, and it is the middle vehicle of the three vehicles of Buddhism. Why... are we assigned to the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle? Could it be that we will not be able to return to your tutelage in the future? Instead, we will have to enter the Western Paradise?"

The three demon kings had all served as mounts for Buddhist bodhisattvas, and thus harbored deep hatred for the so-called Buddhist sect.

After all, they were once the Seven Immortals who served under the Tongtian Sect Master Shangqing Saint of the Jie Sect. However, they were imprisoned and enslaved for countless years. Under such circumstances, who would have goodwill towards the forces that enslaved them?
The blue-haired lion demon and the yellow-tusked white elephant clearly did not understand the reason behind this.

After a moment of contemplation, the Yellow-Toothed White Elephant guessed, "If we fellow disciples were fortunate enough not to be reduced to ashes by the calamity, we would either have ascended to the Investiture of the Gods and served the Heavenly Court, or, like you and me before, been coerced by the Buddhist sect. However, many of our fellow disciples were converted to the Western Sect, and now, most of them are of the Pratyekabuddha lineage of Buddhism. Could it be that Master wants us to follow the example of our Grand Master?"

It has to be admitted that the idea of a yellow-toothed white elephant is quite imaginative.

Among the three vehicles of Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism is the true direct lineage of the two Western Saints, while the Sage of Taiqing founded the Hinayana Buddhism lineage. The birth of Hinayana Buddhism itself was a result of mutual scheming among the saints.

From the very beginning, the original intention of Theravada Buddhism was to share in the prosperity of Buddhism.

In theory, whether it is Mahayana Buddhism or Hinayana Buddhism, since they are the three vehicles, they are naturally on the same ship as Buddhism. As Buddhism flourishes, it will certainly be able to share in the benefits.

The green-haired lion demon was clearly not as simple as his two fellow disciples thought.

After a moment of silence, he said, "Since this is the master's instruction, we might as well go and pay our respects to the true Buddha in person."

"Should we go with them?" the golden-haired man roared. "That Sun Wukong, Tang Sanzang's eldest disciple, is cunning. If we go to visit the True Buddha, and that monkey takes the opportunity to rescue Tang Sanzang, what should we do?"

It must be admitted that the Golden Roar's concerns are not without merit.

After all, Sun Wukong did do far too many of these underhanded tricks.

After discussing it, the three demon kings finally decided to send the Green-haired Lion Spirit to Ruzhen Temple to pay respects to Luofu.

Meanwhile, the three demon kings of Lion Camel Ridge were dividing up the work and cooperating.

Having escaped once again, Sun Wukong angrily headed straight for the Purple Bamboo Forest in the South China Sea.

Although he escaped quickly this time, he still saw that the Golden-Haired Roar was right there in Lion Camel Ridge. In fact, in his opinion, the Golden-Haired Roar had become the demon king of Lion Camel Ridge.

Not long ago, Sun Wukong witnessed the Golden-Haired Roar being taken away by Guanyin Bodhisattva.

Now, no matter what, even the Black Bear Spirit, the guardian deity of the Purple Bamboo Forest, has been captured by the Golden-haired Roar.

It was only natural for Sun Wukong to seek an explanation from Guanyin Bodhisattva.

Purple Bamboo Forest in the South China Sea.

With the black bear demon no longer blocking their way, and given the current situation, their anger was burning fiercely.

Sun Wukong stormed all the way to Guanyin Bodhisattva's sacred site.

Yes, they had stumbled into the sacred site of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

This can be considered the first time, aside from his tantrums and outbursts, that Sun Wukong had ever been so disrespectful to Guanyin Bodhisattva.

Neither the Sudhana who stood in his way nor Muzha and the others could stop Sun Wukong, who then barged into Guanyin Bodhisattva's abode.

"Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva, you must give me, Old Sun, an explanation today."
