Warhammer: This Galen's Heart of Steel
Chapter 64: Worker Leader Crow King
Chapter 64: Worker Leader Crow King
The Astartes of the IX Legion were scattered across the sector to resist the enemies of the Imperium, and there was a gap of approximately three years before they could regroup and meet their Primarch.
Although the sudden arrival of Galen Crownguard, the Primarch of the Second Legion, meant that Sanguinius was found by the Emperor earlier than expected.
In the original timeline, the task of teaching Sanguinius was assigned to Horus by the Emperor, which led to a deep friendship between the two Primarchs.
Now, the task of abducting the Archangel fell to the Primarch of the Second Legion.
Baal.
just now.
The square was crowded with Baal people who came to see Sanguinius off. From the aerial perspective, it looked like a group of black ants surrounding a light source.
"Maxim, have you finished selecting the guards?"
Taking his eyes away from the crowd in the square, Galen leaned on the edge of the ship and asked Maxim who was walking behind him.
Behind Maxim stood three fully-armed Space Marines, equipped with the latest weapon modified by the Primarch, the Gauss Ripper.
These three Space Marines were loyal brothers who had followed the Primarch since the Demacia era. After becoming members of the Primarch's Honor Guard, they were personally taught by the Primarch, and their martial arts skills were among the best among all the Fearless Vanguard members.
What is even more admirable is their tenacious fighting spirit and their loyalty to the Gene Father. Even if the Primarch ordered them to commit suicide, the three would execute it without hesitation.
Their mission is to stay in the name of assisting in the defense of Baal, but their real purpose is to guard the tomb world deep in the crust of Tianlin Land, where the Enlightened One, Xerath, is imprisoned.
So far, it is indeed not advisable for the Dauntless Vanguard to withdraw a large number of troops, such as driving the Dauntless to Baal, and moving the entire tomb back to Demacia.
"The personnel have arrived, Iron Fist Dalek, Gladiator Sirion, and Gunner Sergeant Davari."
Looking at the three strong young men, the Primarch nodded with satisfaction.
"Remember your mission. Do not allow anyone other than me to come into contact with Target Zero, not even yourselves."
Galen's tone was very heavy.
"My Lord, your will!"
After the three left, Sanguinius finally said goodbye to Baal's son, flew a circle and landed on the landing pad, and his white wings were immediately folded.
"Thank you for the long wait. I spent a lot of time and effort to comfort them. The hard times they went through in the past made it difficult for them to leave me."
"It doesn't matter. Time is not that tight."
Sanguinius smiled. In front of his offspring, his brother was much more serious than usual, and his stern face was very interesting.
"This is my captain of the guard, Maxim."
Galen made way for Maxim who was standing behind him and introduced him to him.
"You can find him if you need anything during the rest of the voyage."
Sanguinius nodded slightly.
The spacecraft took off quickly, and using a technology that was difficult for ordinary people to understand, it accelerated to sub-light speed in the shortest time.
Soon, under the control of the spacecraft pilot, they arrived at the Mandeville point closest to Baal at the fastest speed, and skillfully controlled the time to successfully enter the subspace channel.
The exact origin of the name Mandeville Point is unknown, but it is thought to date back to the Dark Age of Technology, when humans developed warp drives that allowed them to travel faster than the speed of light.
It is defined as the minimum distance a ship can safely enter or leave the Warp without being disturbed by the gravity of a star or other celestial body.
If a ship enters or exits the Warp too early, it could spell disaster for the vessel or the world around it.
There are still some known ways for the Imperium to bypass Mandeville Point. One of these is to use pre-set Warp Gates built by Humanity during the Dark Age of Technology.
There are two such subspace gates in the solar system, namely the Gate of Elysium located on Uranus and the Gate of Hades located on Pluto.
These stargates are also of great strategic significance because they allow spacecraft to easily enter the solar system by bypassing the Mandeville Point.
Inside the bridge, Galen taught Sanguinius about Warp navigation and some of the Empire's experiences.
Of course, the first language Sanguinius learned was Gothic, the official language currently used by the Empire. The Primarch's intelligence enabled him to quickly learn this unfamiliar language and use it very skillfully.
"Can you help me build a suit of power armor and a sword?"
On the original Baal, Sanguinius did not have this feeling, but after seeing the Emperor's Royal Guards and Galen's Honor Guard.
He also wanted to get a nice-looking and powerful power armor to wear. The best person to make the armor was naturally Garen, who had superb craftsmanship.
The extremely powerful sword in his hand was made by himself. Sanguinius also wanted one because the Blade of the God-King was very beautiful.
Sanguinius was not one to pay attention to detail like Fulgrim, but given the choice, he wanted a nice-looking blade.
The Angel's armor is a piece of finely crafted power armor called the King's Glory, rumored to have been tailor-made for the Primarch by the Emperor himself, allowing the Primarch to be fully protected while still being able to move freely - including flying.
Now that the Emperor has run away with Lux, the task of creating armor for Sanguinius falls on Garen.
"It's not a problem, but I don't have the right materials. Power armor can be made of refined gold and ceramic steel, which are currently the best materials for making power armor.
But weapons are not easy to make. My forging skills are inherited from a legendary dwarf blacksmith. This rune technology requires compatibility.
The materials used to forge the Fallen Dragon Sacrifice are not suitable for you. If you use it by force, it will be difficult to exert your full strength."
Galen thought about it again and again and gave this answer.
"Compatibility?"
Sanguinius muttered.
"Which material is suitable for me?"
Although he was (probably) not Daddy's favorite Primarch, nor the one with the greatest psychic powers, nor the one who was best at building infrastructure, nor even the one who looked most like Daddy, Sanguinius was considered the one closest to the Emperor.
Many Space Marine Legions and their Primarchs joined the Great Crusade simply for the glory and enjoyment of battle.
Sanguinius and his IX Legion fought for the same reasons as the Emperor himself: for a better, more peaceful galaxy, for the unity, prosperity and happiness of all mankind.
"I think the flaming sword on the emperor's waist is the most suitable for you."
Sanguinius smiled helplessly: "How can I get that sword?"
It's very simple. Once the Emperor turns into a corpse, it will be yours. "I should be able to make a similar one."
Galen's room.
There was a beautiful sketch on the drawing paper. The tall Primarch sat on a chair and after pondering for a moment, he continued to add more appearance details to the armor on the sketch.
Different from the technological and powerful design of [Heart of Steel], [Glory of Kings] has beautiful curly lines and artistic sense. The shape of the armor fits Sanguinius' perfect body shape, and the light armor design can better bring out Sanguinius' speed advantage.
The paintbrush suddenly stopped, and then the bookshelves, tables, chairs and ceiling chandeliers in the room began to shake violently.
Looking out through the window of the room, the flowing subspace energy became violent, and huge waves hit the outer shell of the Geller force field one after another.
This product of the Dark Age of Technology is used to create a protective force field around interstellar spacecraft that travel at faster-than-light speeds.
It allows combat-capable starships and their occupants to survive in extremely harsh combat environments, also known as "immaterial space."
Geller fields protect starships and their occupants from the hostile effects of the telepathically reactive distortion environment itself, as well as from attacks by warp-space entities such as daemons.
Put down the paintbrush, the sailing environment is no longer suitable for creating art with peace of mind.
Spherical room.
Sitting in it was the three-eyed alien Walter Hollis, the navigator of the spacecraft.
On Imperial ships, the Navigator's Sanctuary is its own territory, usually designed as a spherical room between two and ten decks.
Navigators are a special group of mutants recognized by the Empire. They are indispensable to the Empire's interstellar transportation, commercial trade, and traffic communications. Their unique abilities can provide navigation for ships traveling in the Warp.
The navigator's third eye, the "Eye of the Warp", can sense the psychic light emitted by the Astronomican, and use it as the North Star to help the ship sail out of the Warp and reach its destination. This perception ability is considered a psychic gift, but the navigator's psychic ability is limited to this.
"Mr. Watt, what's going on?"
The door to the spherical room opened, and the Primarch strode into the room, stopping ten meters away from the pilot, followed by Maxim, who accompanied him, and the Archangel, who was holding a fruit plate in his arms and chewing slowly.
"Unfortunate news, dear two Primarchs. Our ship has been disturbed by a warp storm and is deviating from the route of the Flame Wheel sub-sector and heading towards an unknown star region."
He opened his tightly closed eyes, revealing a pair of strange pupils that were completely black.
The natural lifespan of a Navigator is as long as four centuries. As they age, the power of the Warp Eye increases, and their appearance changes constantly. The original white iris in their eyeballs will disappear completely, leaving only a black sphere.
They are very capable fighters, and as they gain more sailing experience they will discover many new abilities based on their third eye.
Rumor has it that they can curse a person with just a glance, or stop time with just a thought.
Although experienced navigators will awaken many powerful warp spells, it does not prevent them from becoming weaklings controlled, sacrificed, and parasitized by demons.
“Is there a solution?”
the Primarch asked eagerly.
After a moment's silence, navigator Walter Hollis responded by shaking his head helplessly.
Lycaeus.
just now.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Under the dark night, the dirty mine was dry and the dust was rising like a hemispherical cover covering the sky.
The workers breathed in poor quality air with excessive dust content, with their upper bodies naked and their already tired bodies wielding mattocks.
"What kind of life is this? The workers work hard all day long in the mines, and the money they earn is just enough to buy a few loaves of dry bread, which is not enough to fill the stomachs of the family."
The worker straightened his bent back, held his mattock with both hands, and looked toward a tall tower standing in the southern part of the mine.
Searchlights from the tower constantly scanned the work of the miners. Once any worker was found trying to escape or slack off, the guards in Chiavar would come out with guns and hit them on the head with the butt of the gun, severely punishing those who attempted to escape or slack off.
"Damn it, Thälmann, what are you doing standing there? Do you want to attract those vicious hyenas?"
A worker who was mining nearby grabbed Thälmann's wrist and pulled hard, and Thälmann fell into the mine pit in a panic like a rolling gourd.
The searchlight just swept over the place where he was originally standing at the moment he fell.
After brushing off the coal slag on his body, Thälmann held the mattock and continued to work. They were like clockwork toys, bending over, swinging the hoe, and hammering down, mechanically repeating the deformed work.
"We should think of something. Our children and wife are starving at home, while we suffer in the mines, and the nobles are enjoying the best food in their mansions in Chiaval. This is not fair!"
While working, Thälmann instilled his rebellious ideas into his fellow workers, but they basically ignored him. Most of the workers worked mechanically like puppets. They had no thoughts and only hoped that the master would show mercy and give them a few loaves of bread one day.
"That's enough, Thälmann. Stop spreading your reactionary ideas. You are just an ordinary worker. How can you resist those armed guards? One bullet can take your life."
"That's right. Although life is hard now, we don't have enough to eat but we won't starve to death. Isn't it good enough for the family to be alive? Resist? If we die, we will have nothing."
Lycaeus is a mining planet, dry, dusty, without an atmosphere, and a satellite of another mining planet called Kiavar.
Countless slave laborers toiled day and night under the gunpoint of armed guards to provide raw materials for the giant factories on the main planet Kiyavar.
In Lycaeus, living without hunger is the only happy life that these workers can imagine.
Poor people have low aspirations and are spiritual slaves.
"Ugh!"
Sighing heavily, Thälmann moved towards the mine next to him.
"It's no use. They won't listen. They are poor and have low aspirations. They just want to survive. They are simply the spiritual slaves of the Chiavar nobles!"
Thälmann complained to the man next to him.
His long black hair hung down, and his eyes were shrewd and bright, completely different from the coal miners with dull and lifeless eyes.
What was even more surprising was the man’s height. At 3.5 meters, he was as tall as two adult workers.
His name was Corvus Corax, one of the Emperor's children scattered across the galaxy, and the Primarch of the XIX Legion's Raven Guard.
At present, his public identity is a miner in Lycaeus, and his secret identity is the leader of a workers' organization.
Hiss, I thought the notification of listing would come at noon.
