Chapter 249 Yurik's Test

Chapter 249 Yurik's Test
Looking at Ragnar who still refused to surrender, Yurik was not polite either. The holy fire swept down from the altar and directly wrapped him up. Looking at the raging flames, Ragnar actually found that the flames did not hurt him. He did not even feel the heat of the flames, but instead a bone-chilling chill.

In an instant, the holy fire swept itself to an unfamiliar place.

The flames dissipated, and Ragnar looked at the world in front of him with a wary expression.

Just now I was clearly in the temple of a foreign god in this indigenous world, but now I have come to this strange world full of wind and snow.

Ragnar looked around and found himself in a world of snowfields and forests. There was only the sound of wind and snow around him and no living creature was in sight. In the distance, on top of a huge mountain, the blue flame in the temple actually stood on the top of the mountain.

And a voice came into Ragnar's ears.

"Powerful warrior, I recognize your strength. You are more like a fearless winter wolf than my followers. I know why you are here. The god you believe in wants me to help him enter the empire. Yes, but you must complete the test. If you climb this mountain and come to me, I will agree to it."

As Yurik's voice faded away, the holy fire on the top of the mountain burned more fiercely.

And Ragnar also smiled.

Isn't this test a bit too easy?
Ragnar had gone through a similar test before he became a Space Marine. Could this be more extreme than the Space Wolves' recruitment on Fenris?
Fenris, the home planet of the Space Wolves, is a planet shrouded in extreme cold all year round, and the temperature in the kingdom of Ulric is obviously no challenge for Ragnar.

As a recruit candidate, he successfully hunted powerful Fenris beasts wearing thin clothes and holding simple weapons, and then he successfully passed the Morkai Trial.

The Trial of Mokai is the final test for the Space Wolves' recruits. Every candidate must drink a special liquid called Wolf's Helix that is unique to the Space Wolves.

Only those who drink the Wolf's Spiral and successfully survive in the wilderness and return to the Wolf Keep can truly join the Space Wolves.

But as simple as it sounds, actually doing it requires a test of both body and will.

Anyone who drinks the Wolf Spiral will slowly begin to transform into a beast, or more directly, will slowly turn into a Fenris wolf physically. The drinker will feel irresistible brutality and bloodthirstiness, and the irresistible candidate will eventually turn into a Fenris wolf wandering in the wilderness.

But the successful ones can have tougher skin, more powerful strength, fangs that are enough to tear the enemy apart, as well as keen sense of smell and perception. More importantly, the Wolf Spiral can greatly increase the success rate of Space Marine transformation. Even most Space Marines can only be selected from young people, but the Space Wolves can allow some people who are over the age limit and have successfully survived the Wolf Spiral mutation to be transformed into Space Marines.

It can be said that this is a benign genetic mutation for the Space Wolves, and it will even further enhance the melee capabilities of the Space Wolves over time.

However, what neither Ragnar nor Yurik noticed was that an uninvited guest also came to Yurik's kingdom of God.

"So this is what Yurik's kingdom looks like? It really matches his authority as the God of Wolves and Winter."

Zhang Heng, who was in the soul state at this time, was entering Yurik's kingdom of God with the help of Ragnar in the image of a little golden man. This was his first time to enter a kingdom of gods where the medieval gods were still intact. It looked much more interesting than the ruins of the giant horned beast.

Zhang Heng was observing Ragnar from a distance, and he was curious about what Ragnar would do.

But Ragnar's next move surprised Zhang Heng a little.

Ragnar took off his fine power armor and put away the Frostfang Sword in his hand. Wearing only a pair of tight shorts, Ragnar pulled out a combat dagger. He let out a long roar towards the sky and walked towards the distant mountains.

For most people, the waist-high snow did not pose much of a hindrance to Ragnar. He ran towards the mountains so quickly that the snow along the way raised large flakes of snow dust as he ran.

As Ragnar moved forward, the howling of wild beasts could be heard in the surrounding forest. Ragnar smiled, revealing his two fangs.

He held the battle dagger across his chest, and the next second a whole pack of wolves and several huge brown bears rushed towards Ragnar from the forest.

There was a murderous gleam in the eyes of these beasts, and they wanted to tear Ragnar in front of them to pieces.

Facing the oncoming beasts, Ragnar also rushed forward with a wolf howl. The brown bear in the front was knocked to the ground by his punch, and the combat dagger in his hand accurately pierced the eye of the leader wolf and pierced its head.

In just a dozen seconds, Ragnar, covered in blood, defeated the attacking beasts.

"Strange God? Is this all you have?"

Ulric seemed to have heard Ragnar's provocation. The snowfield disappeared, and instead an extremely wide glacier appeared, blocking Ragnar's way forward.

The freezing cold glacial water could take away an ordinary person's body heat in a few seconds, but it could not stop Ragnar's progress.

He plunged into the glacier and swam forward at an extremely fast speed, but how could the test from God be so simple?

A huge black shadow began to appear under the glacier, and a giant fish tens of meters long opened its bloody mouth and bit towards Ragnar. The huge mouth was big enough to swallow Ragnar in one bite, and the huge teeth seemed to be able to tear everything into pieces.

Fighting in water is very different from fighting on land. You cannot use any leverage in water.

Ragnar knew this and let the giant fish swallow him into its mouth.

After a brief silence, a large amount of blood began to flow out of the giant fish's mouth, and the hand holding the battle dagger actually stretched out directly from its cheek. After a while, Ragnar actually broke out of its body, and the huge fangs in the giant fish's mouth were also pulled out and held in its hand.

Watching the giant fish's body slowly sinking into the bottomless glacier, Ragnar finally swam to the other side.

Ragnar climbed ashore and looked at the giant fish tooth in his hand with satisfaction. This was considered a good trophy in Fenris.

Ragnar collected his spoils and continued on his way.

"These Space Wolves are really reckless. Compared to the Ultramarines who focus on tactics and efficiency, the Space Wolves seem to enjoy the fun of head-on confrontation and fighting more."

And seeing that Ragnar passed the test again, Yurik's holy fire flickered again.

A group of soldiers wrapped in armor made of solid ice appeared in front of Ragnar. These soldiers formed a military formation and began to approach Ragnar.

Even the weapons in their hands are made of ice from thousands of years ago, which is somewhat similar to the frost weapons in the hands of the Space Wolves.

Seeing the new enemy, Ragnar was excited.

"For Ruth! For Allfather! Fight! Cool!"
