Chapter 202 Prayer
After explaining everything to Helen, Wyatt went to the church alone with peace of mind.

With Helen providing disguise for Hetty, not only the pagans, but even Rowling and others who were traveling with her might not be able to detect her presence.

With Hetty in charge, Wyatt naturally didn't have to worry about his men getting hurt.

Even though a large number of pagans have infiltrated the City of Divine Glory, it is still the holy city of the "holy" faction. Not to mention the presence of the Pope, the rituals and formations arranged in the city alone are enough to keep the pagans in check.

Even the most lawless "pleasure-seeking" pagans would certainly not do such outrageous things as slaughtering people in the streets.

At least, they wouldn't do it without any preparation.

After ensuring that nothing would happen to the four groups, Wyatt went to the Holy Church with peace of mind.

As candidates for the Son or Holy Maiden, all of them must first go to the Holy Church to pray.

This kind of prayer is not an ordinary prayer that we do in our daily lives, but a prayer that can truly communicate with "holiness".

Throughout the history of the church, prayers have been held whenever a new pope is approaching.

The more "holy" a person is to receive a strong enough response during prayer, the more likely he is to be elected as the next Pope.

During the period when the first Pope Steinbeck stepped down from office, as many as four of the saints he had trained received the response of "holiness".

The person who received the strongest response of "holiness" was later known as Falladux II, and the response he received has not been surpassed to this day.

Unfortunately, the church has been on a downward spiral since then, and by the time Falladux II left office, there was no one left who could respond “holy” again.

This is also why the current Pope is supported by everyone. He is the only Son of God who has received a "holy" response since the Great Decline.

Now it is time for him to step down, and people are looking forward to whether this leader of revival can bring surprises to the church in his final moments.

If any of the saints he trained received a response, even just one, the historical evaluation of the current Pope would still be able to rise to a higher level.

In terms of the subjective evaluation of believers, the pope at that time will be on par with Faladoux II.

Of course, all this can only be concluded after the coronation ceremony.

But when Wyatt arrived at the Holy Church, he felt a lot of eyes focused on him.

All these gazes came from other saints, the contenders for the throne of Pope.

The Fourth Paladin's pledge of allegiance in the street, the goddess's blessing, and the announcement of the marking technology.

These are all quite dazzling achievements, and the allegiance of the Paladins, which other saints dream of, is actually the most insignificant item among Wyatt's achievements.

Arthur, the number one candidate, felt powerless in front of Wyatt. Then the other saints and holy maidens who don't even have the command of the Paladins will probably be even more powerless.

But fortunately, their powerlessness is the same as Arthur's.

Even though there are differences in height, strength and weakness among insects, humans are all equally huge to them.

Wyatt's arrival was very understated. He did not bring any personal soldiers with him, nor did he have any cardinals to assist him.

He came alone, and if the Holy Church had not been temporarily closed to the public at this moment, perhaps no one would have noticed that Wyatt had arrived.

Wyatt didn't care about other people's eyes and just found an empty seat and sat down.

The prayer that was about to begin was meaningless to him.

If you just want to chat with "holiness", you can do it at any time, and even call a few more people.

What annoyed Wyatt was that he would definitely get a "holy" response to his next prayer. He couldn't refuse it at all, and it would also add to the historical evaluation of the old Pope.

It was clearly earned by my own ability, but that old man wanted to have a share of it.

This is what Wyatt hates about the Theocracy.

It was obviously the Lord who helped you, but you ended up kneeling and kowtowed to the broken stone statue of the goddess to thank Him for His grace. Your goddess doesn't even look like that, so who are you worshipping?

Wyatt glanced around and was about to start praying. In order to increase the success rate of the prayer, the saints would not communicate with each other before starting, but would start to purify their hearts.

This also gave Wyatt a chance to observe the current situation, otherwise it would be somewhat embarrassing to meet those naked gazes.

Including himself, there were eleven candidates for Faladuces VI, five of whom were recognized by the Pope.

Unless the "Holy One" personally issues an oracle, or the Pope himself goes crazy, the next Pope will basically be chosen from among these people.

As for those saints who were not elected, some will stay in the Pope to serve as cardinals, some may take the initiative to go to the front lines, and some may become discouraged and find a place in the countryside to live a leisurely life without worries about food and clothing.

Wyatt hoped that he would lose the election, but the old Pope would not let him go.

Let "Holiness" issue an oracle to select someone else? Forget it. "Holiness" might have already prepared an oracle to designate itself, and maybe even the triggering process for issuing the oracle has been established.

Forget it, it’s better to rely on pagans than on these guys.

Wyatt felt tired of looking at these youngsters, so he turned his head and looked out the window.

The momentum of the parade was indeed huge. Even though the small window next to him could only glimpse a corner of Shenhui City, he could still see the impact of the parade.

Both sides of the street were crowded with people, and the sound of the orchestra could be faintly heard even in the church.

Wherever the parade goes, people will release white doves to announce the arrival of the parade.

As the team passed through more and more areas, the tail of the team gradually became longer.

In the past few years, Wyatt would only see this kind of scene in the final battle of a major war.

So much so that when Wyatt saw this big scene, he actually began to think in a trance about how to destroy it all.

Wyatt had a hard time hiding his smile when he found himself having such a thought.

The most important people to me are in the team, so I can't wipe out the entire team.

But if you just think about it, there's nothing wrong with it.

After all, the pagans might be planning something like this at this moment.

Thinking from the pagans' perspective can also help thwart their plots.

However, at this point, all the preparations that can be made have been made, and Wyatt thinks that thinking about these things further is just unnecessary worry.

The procession has entered the road leading to the Holy Church, and it will not be long before the coronation ceremony officially begins.

Wyatt's eyes moved upwards and he saw the huge striking statue of the goddess.

He just stared at it for a moment and then looked away.

Prayer is about to begin.
