From this point of view, the concept of the internal martial arts, which pursues the practice of martial arts to enter the Tao and to perform martial arts with the Tao, is to integrate one's body and mind into the natural world; while the concept of the external martial arts, which pursues the practice of martial arts to cultivate Zen and to perform martial arts with Zen, is to integrate the natural world into one's body and mind. Therefore, the internal martial arts should have the unrestrainedness of integrating one's body and mind into the natural world, and the external martial arts should have the domineering spirit of integrating the natural world into one's body and mind. The internal martial arts emphasizes natural harmony, while the external martial arts pursues strength and power. Every move of the internal martial arts is smooth and natural, while every move of the external martial arts is earth-shaking. The internal martial arts are ethereal like the Supreme God, while the external martial arts are strong like the Vajra God. It is said that when the Buddha Shakyamuni was born, his mother turned into a lotus flower, and Shakyamuni pointed to the sky with one hand and the ground with the other, and roared like a lion, saying: "I am the only one who is supreme above the heavens and the earth." Therefore, what Buddhist believers pursue is strength, a kind of domineering spirit that everything in the world is under my control, and this domineering spirit is fully reflected in the external martial arts. I think this is the real difference between internal and external martial arts. It is not that internal martial arts only practice internal strength and external martial arts only practice external strength. In fact, there is no unified view in the martial arts community on what internal strength is. But one thing is clear, the internal strength in martial arts is definitely not something that can be passed on as described in martial arts novels..."
