Game of Thrones: Viserys the Three-Headed Dragon.
Chapter 10 Dany is Sick
Chapter 10 Dany is Sick
As usual, Viserys stayed in his room until noon, and only got up, washed and went out after confirming that Illyrio had no intention of meeting him today.
Only the maid was cleaning the corridor today.
Viserys asked her directly, "Where is the steward?"
"Wait a moment, distinguished guest." The maid put down the work in her hands, went to the corner of the stairs, and rang a bell.
Soon, the steward appeared before Viserys. "Will you have lunch, my honored guest?"
Since the butler took the initiative to ask, Viserys did not ask any more questions. "Yes."
"Do you want to go to the restaurant or take it to your room?" The butler asked the same question.
"The dining room," Viserys answered.
The butler nodded: "Please wait in the restaurant." Then he turned and left.
Viserys waited in the corridor for a while, but Daenerys did not show up.
He ignored the maid who went back to her work quietly and walked straight to Daenerys' door, knocked on it and called out, "Daenerys?"
no respond.
His voice rose a little: "Daenerys!"
Still no response.
He turned the doorknob quickly.
The door is unlocked.
Viserys opened the door and entered.
Not blocked.
"Daenerys, can't you hear me calling you?" His voice was cold and his eyes quickly swept towards the bed.
Fortunately, the person is still there.
Daenerys was still lying in bed, but she looked like she was still half asleep.
Viserys moved closer and saw that Daenerys's face was red, her breathing was heavy, and her brows were frowning as she fell asleep.
He reached out and touched Daenerys's forehead, which was hot, as if she had a fever.
Is she really sick?
Maybe it's not a disease.
Viserys quickly connected Daenerys' current situation with last night's dream, and suspected that it was caused by him swallowing the dragon soul in the dream. After all, what he swallowed might be the dragon soul that entered Daenerys' body yesterday.
Viserys withdrew his hand and hesitated beside the bed.
He stood by the bed for a long time, but the maid outside did not respond.
Viserys rose and walked to the door, opening it as he had closed it behind him. He called out, "Someone, someone."
The maid who was cleaning the wall in the corridor put down her work and hurried forward: "Ah, distinguished guest, what happened?"
Viserys commanded, "Go get a basin of warm water. My sister is sick!"
The maid replied blankly: "Ah, what are the symptoms? Do you want to call a doctor?"
"." Viserys paused and replied, "Wait a minute!"
In Westeros, the job of doctor in this world belongs to the bachelors of the Citadel. Bachelors serve as advisors to the nobles of Westeros. They have studied and trained in the Citadel and have systematic training in medicine-related subjects. They can prescribe the right medicine for some common diseases, and their medical skills should be slightly better than those on Earth in the Middle Ages.
In the Free Trade City, the work of a doctor usually belongs to an empirical merchant who can bleed, claim to have witchcraft, and can mix herbs. They usually treat fever by bleeding, using flower milk to relieve pain, and letting the patient sleep. If it still doesn't work, there are also enema, witchcraft, and amputation.
Now that Daenerys is "sick", Viserys wants to suppress the issue of finding a doctor. He enjoyed bloodletting treatment on the first day he came here, and he really didn't dare to count on the doctor he found through Illyrio.
The maid didn't say anything more: "Okay."
As soon as the maid left, the butler came up.
The housekeeper asked, "Ani said something happened here, distinguished guest, how can I help you?"
"Help me get some." Viserys wanted to boil willow branches for water, but she stopped herself and said, "Hot water for drinking."
Viserys's memory did not allow him to tell this folk remedy. His original self knew nothing about dealing with illness. Even if they caught a cold occasionally, the two siblings relied on their young bodies to get through it.
So we can only try physical cooling.
After watching the butler leave, Viserys was not idle either. He immediately returned to Daenerys's room and took a drop of blood from her finger in the same way. Viserys has always been very prudent and only pierced the skin. The skin on the fingertips of people recovers very quickly and will not leave scars.
He did this because although he had a guess in his mind, he still needed to conduct a practical test to confirm that the dragon soul could not be reused.
Soon the maid brought a basin of hot water: "What do you need me to do, distinguished guest?"
"No," Viserys ventured. "I can do it myself."
The maid hesitated: "Are you sure, guest?"
Viserys insisted. "I can do it myself."
The maid no longer insisted.
Viserys was keenly aware that the maid's attitude seemed to have changed slightly, no longer being so proactive.
Whether this was a subtle sign of indifference from the owner of the courtyard, or some other reason, Viserys had no time to ponder.
But anyway, it's a good thing.
There is a big difference between spying and direct intervention.
This means that his scope of operation is greater.
Viserys took the basin and closed the door behind him. He tested the water temperature and found it was still a little hot, so he simply poured the lemonade from the kettle in Dany's room into the basin and began to wipe Daenerys' body with a towel.
First, the forehead.
Next is the arm that was touched yesterday.
Then the other hand.
Finally, the feet.
Viserys couldn't find the source of the abnormality, he only found that Daenerys did not have a normal "fever", her lips were not chapped, and her heartbeat was not very fast. Although her breathing was heavy and her brows were slightly wrinkled, she did not look in great pain.
She was just feverish, unconscious, and perhaps dreaming.
Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that she fainted from the fever.
Soon, the housekeeper brought hot water.
Viserys also refused his steward's help.
He poured a cup of hot water, cooled it down to a drinkable temperature, and then tried to feed Daenerys the water.
Although she was unconscious, when water was brought to her mouth, she would instinctively drink it in small sips, just like swallowing saliva.
When Viserys lifted her up, he noticed that her back wasn't even covered in sweat.
Daenerys is by no means sick.
In the end, Viserys simply put the towel on Daenerys' forehead, then sat quietly at the head of the bed and waited.
During this time, the butler came to ask about lunch, and Viserys asked him to deliver it to Daenerys' room. When they expressed doubts about "Dane's condition", Viserys just evaded them and asked them to do their own thing.
Then, without being disturbed - at least on the surface - Viserys began to try to wake Dany at regular intervals, while monitoring her temperature.
This happened six times, and Viserys estimated that two hours after he started recording, Daenerys's temperature began to drop significantly and she showed signs of waking up.
Before the seventh check, Daenerys had already woken up.
As soon as Dany opened her eyes, she saw Viserys sitting at the head of the bed, looking concerned. She sat up, the towel slipped from her forehead, she lowered her eyes, and asked in a puzzled voice, "What's wrong with me?"
"You are ill, Dany," Viserys replied. "Have you no sense of that?"
"I don't know." Dany was still a little depressed. She organized her words and said softly, "My head hurts a little."
[She didn't show the abnormal fear she had yesterday, but her eyes were blurry and her face was pale, but she looked pretty much the same as usual. Headache? Was it caused by sleeping too much, or was it mental?]
Viserys watched her, trying to make sense of what was happening to her. "Tell me, Dany, have you dreamed anything?"
"I don't know." Dany answered subconsciously. She thought carefully, but the dream was vague and only some fragments were left that were difficult to piece together. "I don't remember." Viserys's abnormal behavior made her confused. She bravely raised her head and asked back, "Why do you ask that?"
Viserys's scrutinizing eyes swept over her, and Dany immediately lowered her head, not daring to look directly at him.
Viserys's mind shifted, and he stopped asking questions and turned to another topic: "You've been sleeping all day. Are you hungry now, Dany?"
"." Dany looked up in confusion.
Viserys explained: "It is afternoon, Dany, and you have been asleep all day."
Dany couldn't believe it and said subconsciously: "How could it be."
"As I have said," Viserys told her, "you are ill." "Are you hungry?" Viserys asked.
Dany realized that her brother seemed concerned about the question, and then felt it and nodded.
"Good." Viserys seemed satisfied with her answer. He walked out of the room and asked the butler to prepare hot food.
After Dany woke up, she gradually realized that she had slept all day and Viserys was acting strangely. When she was full of doubts, Viserys returned to the house. Under Dany's surprised gaze, he took a piece of dessert and tea from the table and brought them to Dany's bedside: "Fill your stomach first."
This unprecedented act of concern left Dany confused. She wanted to see Viserys's expression at the moment, but she didn't dare to look up and stare. So she just timidly reached out to take it. She didn't dare to suggest getting up from the bed. She started to eat in small bites without saying a word.
The room suddenly fell silent.
Viserys noticed that Daenerys's face suddenly turned red as she ate, so he reached out to test the temperature of her forehead.
Dany stopped eating, shrank her neck, and seemed to be hesitant to speak.
After confirming that she was just blushing normally, Viserys asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Dani spoke slowly, as if asking for instructions: "I want to get up first and wash up."
"." Viserys realized something, his face tightened, and he said, "I'll go see what the steward is preparing." After that, he straightened his clothes and walked out of Dany's room.
Viserys certainly did not go to see the butler.
Unexpectedly, there was no one in the corridor at this moment.
Viserys then began to survey the corridor. The maid had been very quick that day, and he guessed that the place of his surveillance was probably somewhere.
He took the opportunity to stroll back and forth in the corridor outside the door, tapping the wall with his fingers unintentionally as he walked aimlessly. Unfortunately, he didn't notice anything unusual until the housekeeper showed up pushing a food delivery cart.
When they saw each other in the hallway, it was the housekeeper who asked in confusion, "Dear guest?"
"I'm waiting for you, steward." Viserys directed the steward to push the small dining cart to Dany's door.
He knocked on the door casually and said, "I'm coming in." Then he opened the door and asked the butler to bring in food.
After the butler had placed the dishes on the table in the room, Viserys naturally sent the butler away and stayed behind.
Only then did Dany walk out of the bathroom with a red face.
It looked like Viserys wasn't going to leave for the time being.
