Game of Thrones: Viserys the Three-Headed Dragon.
Chapter 86 Reclaiming Dragonstone
Chapter 86 Reclaiming Dragonstone
"The dragon is coming to eat me!"
Princess Shilin hid in the corner of the room and trembled. She had had many nightmares before, dreaming that a dragon wanted to eat her.
When Master Cressen was alive, he told her that the dragon was dead and could never be resurrected.
After that day, Princess Shireen still troubled her maids and her queen mother by talking about the red comet in the sky as 'dragon's breath', but she no longer had nightmares about being swallowed by a dragon.
But today, the dragon really appeared.
Right above the castle.
That huge body was bigger than any dragon statue carved on the castle, and his three heads were more ferocious than any carved dragon head statue.
The maid went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her, but she hasn't returned yet. Her mother is nowhere to be found, and Princess Shilin is the only one in the princess' room.
After the dragon appeared in the castle, Princess Shilin was so frightened that she didn't know what to do. She could only huddle in a corner and cry in panic.
Tear!
The terrifying sound of flapping wings outside the tower reached her ears, and the scorching wind rushed into the room through the window. Princess Shilin covered her mouth in panic, but she saw that the huge dragon had already landed on the stone arch bridge outside her room.
What frightened her even more was that the giant dragon shrunk its body to four or five feet in size and entered her room through the door of the arch bridge.
The knight on the dragon's back shouted to her, "Where is your mother?"
The sound sounded like the roar of a dragon in her ears.
Princess Shireen burst into tears.
"Ah! Protect Her Highness the Princess! May the King of Light protect me!"
At this moment, several guards rushed out of the door at the other end of the arch bridge. They were visibly panicked, but they still drew their swords and rushed towards Viserys.
"Dracarys!"
Dragon flames burst out from the middle head where Viserys looked back, and all the armored guards were blown away by the huge impact of the flame rays. Several were knocked down and fell at the door at the other end of the arch bridge, and it was hard to tell whether they were dead or alive. Two tried to avoid it, but were blown away by the huge impact, screaming and smashing the low guardrail of the arch bridge, and fell from the arch bridge to the bottom of the tower.
A woman who looked like a maid appeared from the stairs leading down the tower, crying. She was glared at by the right eye of Viserys's head and fainted on the spot out of fright.
Viserys' three heads looked at the girl huddled in the corner again, and asked the same question: "Where is your mother?" A huge voice like a bell echoed inside and outside the tower.
"Stop!" A woman screamed outside, "Don't hurt my daughter! Don't touch her!"
Princess Shireen wailed and screamed, "Mom, save me!"
A woman's voice came from the side, her voice distorted by fear: "Stop! Let her go!"
Viserys turned, then walked out of Princess Shireen's room and onto the stone arch bridge.
Just opposite, on the stone arch bridge, a tall and thin woman with a pointed face, prominent ears, a sharp nose, and a panicked face, but a stern woman who tried to remain calm and dignified after seeing Viserys, stood there accompanied by two tall guards and a young maester.
The woman wore a queen's crown with flame patterns on her head.
She should be Queen Selyse Florent.
Viserys flapped his wings and soared into the air, his body swelling and towering over the enemy. His voice was as loud as a bell: "Surrender to me, Queen Selyse."
Everyone was waiting for the queen's answer, and no one even shot arrows from the dark.
"I" the queen said, her voice trembling, her legs shaking, her body trembling like a sieve, "I"
Everyone was waiting for her answer.
Finally, the queen uttered, with trembling lips, "I I can't." She screamed, her voice as sharp as a whip. "I can't!"
"So," Viserys said incredulously, "you choose to die?!"
The queen slumped down on the bridge as she finished speaking. Two of her guards drew their swords on Viserys, and the young maester slumped to the ground with a look of death on his face.
This scene shocked Daenerys so much that she couldn't help but sit up straight on Viserys.
Viserys's mouth was filled with fire. Princess Shireen found the courage from nowhere, she ran out of the room, came to the arch bridge, and cried: "Mother! Don't--"
The drawn-out ending was Princess Shilin's cry as she slipped and fell from the arch bridge.
"No!" The queen, who was lying on the arch bridge, screamed and fainted immediately.
Tear!
Princess Shilin felt dizzy and could feel herself falling. She could hear her mother's screams.
At a certain moment, a violent wind suddenly blew up, and Princess Shilin felt that she had fallen on something, dark, soft, wet and hot.
Tear!
Something was humming.
By the time she was able to be lowered by something and see again, she was back on the arched stone bridge.
The dragon was beside her, and the long-necked head on the right was retracting into its body. Princess Shilin then realized that the middle head of the dragon was burning with a terrifying red flame, and the rows of scales on its neck were shining orange-red. The other two heads looked extremely dim compared to the middle one.
The strong wind blew on Princess Shilin, making her clothes rustle.
The dragon looked down at her from above, and the knight on the dragon spoke in a voice as loud as a bell: "Surrender to me, Shireen Baratheon!"
The castle fell silent again.
Everyone was waiting for her answer.
Princess Shireen's face was covered with tears of shock. She looked confusedly at another arched stone bridge where her queen mother had fainted. Her two cousin knights and Maester Pylos were all looking at her. She felt as if everyone in the castle was looking at her.
What should she say? What should she do? No one told her.
"Make a choice, Princess Shireen," the dragon rider urged her. "Outside the castle that you can't see, countless people are fighting desperately. Every moment you hesitate, countless lives are dying. Surrender, or let more people die. You are a princess, the only heir to Stannis Baratheon. Now, make your choice!"
Ten-year-old girls are still using good and evil to distinguish between good and bad.
She didn't understand, if the three-headed dragon and the knight on its back were kind, why did they kill so many knights who had treated her kindly and were loyal to her parents? If he was evil, why did he save her and urge her to surrender and save more people?
The wind whistled in her ears.
Princess Shilin looked up and saw the purple eyes revealed by the knight's helmet on the dragon. The knight looked at her with such complicated eyes, full of expectation, pity, and determination.
Princess Shilin gave her answer, and she said in a trembling voice, "Yes."
Viserys asked, "Surrender?"
"Yes." She said, calming down a little.
"Order your castle guards to lower the flags."
"Yes." She found that this was the only word she could say at the moment.
"Okay." Viserys flapped his wings and soared into the sky. His huge voice like a bell resounded in the castle. "Princess Shireen Baratheon has surrendered to me, and the queen has also surrendered. Everyone, lay down your weapons and surrender to the Targaryens! Castle guards, lower your flags!" At this time, no one actually cared whether the queen surrendered or not.
Viserys flew around the castle three times, shouting the same words several times.
Finally, all of Stannis's banners on the castle were lowered.
Then Viserys turned and flew out of the castle, shouting to the guards and Unsullied who were still fighting on the hill outside the castle: "Princess Shireen Baratheon has surrendered, the queen has surrendered, everyone, lay down your weapons and surrender to the Targaryens!"
Viserys's voice echoed across Dragonstone.
At this time, a new sun was rising above the sea level in the east.
This day will be remembered as the day Dragonstone was returned to the rule of the Targaryen dragonlords.
(End of Volume 1: The Beggar King)
The plot will then enter the second volume, which will be called "The Dragon King of Dragonstone".
Now that Viserys finally has a base, let's see how he navigates the ever-changing situation in Westeros.
