Although using a lathe to cut workpieces into special shapes, such as spiral grooves and gear shapes, is relatively more complicated and laborious than using a professional milling machine, the production of this machine tool is now relatively mature. Nangou completed the casting of two sets of lathe castings in just one month.

If these large castings did not require sufficient time to cool naturally, the lathe production cycle would be shorter. However, in this world, there is a lack of qualified cooling oil, and natural cooling must take such a long time to ensure stable quality.

But these are not problems. Now the number of skilled workers in model manufacturing has increased significantly, and both Yangcun and Nangou have the capacity to produce two sets of machine tool castings at the same time.

After the first boring machine in Nangou was produced, Ren Zhong in Yangcun had already delivered two sets of core components of the boring machine through the cross-location shuttle function.

Only a small number are reserved for subsequent milling machines, planers and other new function machine tools. The three types of machine tools currently developed can lay the foundation for the production of ammunition such as bullets and shells, as well as the repair and replacement of accessories for guns such as Hanyang, Type 38, Czech and Type 99, and the production of some parts for mortars, grenade launchers and RPGs.

The few hundred miners who originally seemed wealthy are now not enough. A considerable number of them have been converted into workers and trained to become smelters and blacksmiths. After all, many gun parts need to be forged to obtain qualified forged steel before secondary processing.

Such a heavy task requires a steady supply of human resources to support the development of the entire base. However, even if Gao Kaiming and Xu Jiucheng use all their connections, they are still unable to meet the increasing shortage of workers.

After all, the current machining capabilities are still very limited. Jobs like forging, which were basically replaced by machines in the main world, must now be done manually.
