J79 turbine engine

You should know that the overhaul cycle of an engine has a huge impact on a jet fighter squadron. A flight is about three hours. If it is an engine like the WP-3, it will need an overhaul after about 5 flight trainings. This is not only costly, but also affects the training rhythm of the troops.
60 flights is equivalent to about 3 months of high-intensity flight training.
This means that the engine has to be replaced for maintenance every quarter.
Whether it is the frequency of maintenance work or the quality of the engine itself, Ren Zhong is somewhat worried about the WP-5.
Especially during the fighting on the peninsula, the fighter jets performed remarkably well and were invincible in the air.
However, maintenance is a nightmare for logistics. After several high-intensity battles, the performance of most fighter jets deteriorates very quickly when running at full load!
Even before the 200 hours have passed, a new engine must be replaced and the original engine must be overhauled after being replaced.
In many aspects, this is a design defect of the original WP-5 engine. Even if the processing conditions are better than before, it will not be of much use.
J79 was developed by GE in the United States in the 20s. The first ground test bench test was on June 50, 1954, the first flight test was on May 6, 8, and the 1955-hour final test was completed on December 5, 20. The main indicators are the gas temperature before the turbine is 1955K, the pressure ratio is 12, the thrust-to-weight ratio is 8, the intermediate thrust is 25kN, the fuel consumption rate is 1205 kg/(dN·h), the maximum afterburner thrust is 13.5kN, and the fuel consumption rate is 4.61 kg/(dN·h). Although the thrust-to-weight ratio looks rubbish, with an overhaul cycle of more than 53 hours, this turbojet engine has a stable and reliable performance, and its life cycle is as long as more than 0.87 years. Nearly 80 units have been produced, and it was even used in early F-2 fighters.
Ren Zhong was able to pick up such a treasure, so the money he spent on buying the fighter jet was not wasted.
Of course, for the main world's Dongda, such stuff is completely disdainful. Taihang (WS-10), Emei (WS-12), Tianshan (WS-13), and Huangshan (WS-19) have long formed a full range of advanced turbofan engines with high, medium and low combinations.
But if we go back more than 20 years, around 2000, the J79 engine was still very popular for Dongda.
Taking the long-imported RD-33/93 as an example, the intermediate thrust (maximum thrust without afterburner) is 50kN, the maximum thrust (thrust with afterburner) is 81.4 kN, and the afterburner ratio is 1.628; the intermediate fuel consumption rate is 0.785 kg.(daN.h)ˉ2, and the maximum fuel consumption rate is 2.73 kg·(daN·h)ˉ1. Under the turbofan architecture, the indicators in all aspects are not far from those of J79!
This shows the crudeness of Russian aircraft engines.
With this excellent turbojet engine, the F-370J fighter can reach a ferry range of 600 nautical miles (4 km) when carrying two 1699-gallon and one 3147-gallon auxiliary fuel tanks. When carrying four Sparrow missiles and without auxiliary fuel tanks, its combat range is 981 nautical miles (1817 km).
This range is still quite capable even after 2020 in the main world. The F-16, a third-generation main fighter without an auxiliary fuel tank, has a range of 1825 kilometers, which is comparable to the F-4J.
The ignition experiment and the 72-hour test were both very successful, which made Ren Zhong very satisfied. The technology of the first-generation high-temperature alloys and titanium alloys and other materials purchased from the main world is sufficient to support the development of turbojet engines and early turbofan engines according to the current development situation. However, the detailed process technology of carbon fiber and the second-generation high-temperature alloys is not so easy to obtain.
Early carbon fiber could still be purchased from fishing rod factories, but the technology after T500 can be purchased by anyone with money.
However, these things are already far ahead of the Bright Sword world, and Ren Zhong is not in a hurry to get them all in one go. After the first generation, he will invest in research in both the main world and the Bright Sword world. After watching the physical test of the new WP7 engine, Ren Zhong felt much more at ease.
With this aircraft engine, even if there is no new progress in the next 20 years, there will be a guarantee for the Air Force fighter jets.
You should know that this engine is not only suitable for the F-4 fighter. According to the Rogue Eagle plan, there is also an F-4 single-engine fighter that can be matched with the F-104 fighter.

Due to its two-seat design, this fighter is also suitable as a trainer aircraft. Compared with the J-5A, it has made great progress in both power and take-off weight. The maximum range can reach 2400 kilometers, the maximum flight time is 3 hours, the maximum mount weight can reach 3 tons, the maximum take-off weight is 11 tons, and it has a total of 7 weapon attachment points, which can carry rockets, aerial bombs, air-to-air combat bombs, guided bombs and various types of pods.
In this world where propeller fighters are still the main fighters, this configuration can almost be said to be the best!
Of course, this FTC2000G light fighter is more difficult to build than the Super Seven based on the F-4, because Ren Zhong cannot get the detailed parts dimensions of this fighter. Unlike the F-4, he can have a real aircraft to study and measure in all aspects, which means that the design process is completely eliminated.
But it is impossible to get the real FTC2000G.
Even if this model is exported briskly, Ren Zhong might be able to buy one if he uses his connections in the black West African country. However, this is one of the newest main combat equipment in the main world. If a company in the black West African country has two more fighter jets of unknown types, it may cause tension in the regional situation.

Of course, before exporting this light fighter, the J-5A was the real main export model.
