This is a fine-tuning made by Ren Zhong based on the error in the range of the Unscrupulous Cannon. The wooden hoop can cover the distance of 30 meters by quickly changing it. For the needs of positional warfare and attacking artillery towers, this is obviously a very important adaptability improvement.

Although adjusting the propellant can achieve a similar effect, this adjustment is not as easy to perform as angle adjustment and it can easily cause the propellant to fail to be standardized.

Now, after a lot of preliminary testing work by Ren Zhong and Wang Chengzhu, the propellant has been basically fixed into three standardized quantities, which Ren Zhong named No. 3 charge, No. 1 charge and No. 2 charge. The former has a long and high throwing distance, making it suitable for building artillery towers!
The latter has a shorter projectile distance, but has great lethality, and is suitable for close-range attacks in positional warfare. One shot can kill a large number of enemy heavy positions! The power is at least comparable to the lethality of 120mm heavy artillery! It can even be compared to 150mm heavy artillery on special terrain. The normal 155mm artillery shell is only 7 kilograms of TNT, but their explosive power and shrapnel killing range are greater.

According to the test, under the condition of No. 1 charge, a 5-kilogram explosive pack can be thrown at least 120 meters away when launched at the maximum angle, and using No. 3 charge, a 5-kilogram explosive pack can be thrown at least 250 meters!
Why is it stuck at this distance? This is based on two considerations. On the one hand, it is due to combat needs. When the Japanese built the artillery tower, they stipulated that there were no houses, trees, or tall crops within a radius of 200 meters from the tower. All of them were military warning areas, which was also to ensure a clear field of vision.

After Li Yunlong proposed the data of the artillery tower, Ren Zhong and Wang Chengzhu adjusted the launching charge and figured out the amount of No. 3 charge, which could basically launch the projectile at a distance of 230-260 meters.

On the other hand, due to safety considerations, the more propellant is loaded, the less safe it is and the more likely it is to cause the barrel to explode. Moreover, the shape of the explosive package is very limited. Even if the propellant is loaded with more explosives, it is difficult to exceed the 300-meter range. The weight of the No. 2 large explosive pack is also fixed at 10 kilograms. At this weight, using No. 3 charge, it is no problem to achieve a horizontal projection of 120 meters at the maximum angle. Because the firing angle of the conscienceless cannon cannot be accurately fixed, it can only be roughly the same, and now there is a 2.5-degree wooden hoop adjustment opportunity. In fact, the conscienceless cannon improved by Ren Zhong has far surpassed similar products in history in terms of safety, ease of use and power.
