Chapter 935 Forest Adventure
And so, surrounded by three enthusiastic elf children, Moran began her first "adventure" in the Emerald Forest tribe.
Their first stop was Polly's little garden.
It wasn't the orderly nursery Moran had imagined, but rather a small, sunny patch of open space under her treehouse, where lilies of the valley grew naturally alongside many other unnamed wildflowers, mosses, and ferns, each emitting a soft glow or a delicate fragrance.
“Look! These are them!” Polly proudly pointed to clusters of plants with hanging white, bell-shaped flowers.
The lilies of the valley in Seran's world were more exquisite than those Moran had seen in Valen. Their petals were almost translucent, swaying gently in the breeze and emitting an extremely subtle, clear sound like the tinkling of real bells, exuding a fragrance that was richer and purer than that on bark paper.
“They love to hear my singing,” Polly said, and then softly hummed a simple fairy nursery rhyme.
As she sang, the lily of the valley flowers seemed to open more fully, and their fragrance became even stronger.
Then, Polly carefully picked three of the most plump and lustrous lily of the valley flowers and held them in her hands.
She focused her mind, and then a faint, vibrant natural force emanated from her palm, enveloping the three lilies of the valley.
A magical scene happened!
The three lily-of-the-valley flowers seemed to come alive. Their slender stems stretched and intertwined automatically and gracefully, and in just a few breaths, they spontaneously wove into three exquisite lily-of-the-valley wreaths, one large and two small. The flowers were arranged in a staggered and orderly manner, as if they had been carefully designed.
Polly gently placed the smallest, and also the most delicate, one on Moran's head.
She and Celine each got one of the remaining two.
A wreath of lily of the valley is worn on the head, and its delicate fragrance lingers in the hair.
“The wreath has been blessed by my natural power, so it won’t wilt all day!” Polly explained happily. “Wearing it will keep you smelling sweet!”
"Why are there only three? I want one too!" Dominic, who had been ignored, immediately protested, scratching his chestnut hair. "I want to smell nice too!"
Polly pursed her lips, clearly finding it a bit odd for a boy to wear a flower wreath, but under Dominic's persistent gaze, she reluctantly and quickly braided a simple green vine wreath for him, adorning it with only one or two small lily-of-the-valley flowers: "Here, take this!"
Moran is now filled with curiosity about everything in this world related to magic.
After Polly finished weaving all the flower wreaths, she reached out her little hand, gently tugged at the hem of Polly's skirt, and looked up at her, asking, "Sister Polly, is this... magic?"
Polly nodded: "Yes! This is the first spell I've learned, it's called 'Flower Branch Extension'!"
"Amazing!" Moran exclaimed sincerely.
Polly blushed slightly at the praise, her cheeks turning slightly red. She waved her hand and said, "No, it's just the most basic level zero magic. It's very easy to master!"
And I've only just learned how to quickly weave flower branches into beautiful wreaths and keep them fresh all day.
"Sister Terry can even use this magic to weave beautiful flower dresses!"
Even level zero magic is this agile, and even underage elves who can't write properly can master it. Moran's evaluation of the magic in the Seran world rose another level.
"I really want to learn magic soon!" she couldn't help but exclaim. The thought of the magical knowledge in her inherited memories that was still firmly sealed away made her feel restless.
Celine, who had been listening quietly, interjected softly, "Moran, your vine body is written so well. Logically, the inherited memories of level zero magic should have been unlocked by now, right?"
Upon hearing this, Moran sighed and explained with a hint of helplessness, "Not yet! Grandma Clan Chief said that I need to grow longer and inherit more memories before I can unlock it."
Even now, she can't speak a long sentence in one breath! Seeing her sad appearance, Polly, Celine, and Dominic couldn't understand it.
“Isn’t it better if the inherited memories aren’t unlocked? I won’t have a headache, I won’t need to sleep to sort out the extra memories, and I won’t have so much to learn. I can do whatever I want!” Polly said.
“Yes! Is it that the lily of the valley isn’t fragrant enough, or that the forest spirits aren’t fun anymore?” Dominic said.
Celine nodded vigorously.
“Nothing makes me happy, not studying,” Moran said earnestly.
“Moran, you’re so studious, you’re sure to be a learned elf in the future!” Polly said.
……
The group chatted as they walked, taking care of Moran's short legs. They walked very slowly, and it took them quite a while to reach a clear stream.
Not far away, there is a large, sunny meadow surrounded by waist-high hedges.
"That's Lady Lila's herb garden. She's the most skilled herbalist in the tribe. There are many dangerous creatures growing in the garden, Moran, remember not to go near it!" Celine warned.
"Okay." Moran really wanted to see what it looked like inside the hedge, but even if she jumped up, she couldn't see it.
The stream babbles, and the banks are covered with countless water lilies like stars.
This small flower has five sky-blue petals and a bright yellow stamen in the center, making it look very delicate.
Celine skillfully took out a small wicker basket and carefully picked the fully blooming flowers, explaining softly to Moran as she did so:
"Don't uproot it, just take the flowers... Look, like this is good, it will bloom again soon."
"Once we get back, we need to crush the flowers to extract the juice, mix it with a little bit of resin, and let it sit under the moonlight for three days before it becomes the water-washable ink we use."
Moran followed her example, picked a water-washed flower, held it to her nose, and smelled it. It had a very light, minty, cool scent.
Each of them picked some washed flowers and put them in a small basket they had taken from Polly's house.
Finally, at Dominic's insistence, they left the creek and went deeper into the forest to a damp, mossy area.
The light here is somewhat dim, and the colorful, glowing mushrooms in the mossy ground emit a dreamlike glow.
"Shh—" Dominic raised his index finger and whispered, "Look over there!"
Following his pointing finger, Moran saw several strange creatures, no bigger than her palm and with green, leaf-like bodies, leaping and spinning gracefully inside the mushroom, truly like they were performing a silent and elegant dance.
It was exactly the same as the Lin Jing she saw in her inherited memories.
This creature only appears deep in the forest where the power of nature is very strong. When it encounters danger, it disguises itself as a leaf and sometimes even secretly pulls people's hair.
“They’re timid, and move like the wind!” Dominic whispered, a challenge gleam in his eyes. “Let’s see if we can catch them!” (End of Chapter)
