The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat
Chapter 950 The Missing Elf
“They must have gone to collect Dream Star Dust…” Moran felt both moved and uneasy.
To give her the perfect coming-of-age gift, the two friends actually risked traveling to such a far place.
But no matter what, they will not miss their coming-of-age ceremony unless something happens!
Moran immediately went to Chief Matilda and told her about it.
“You’re right, Moran, something’s very likely happened to them!” Matilda immediately took it seriously. She turned to a calm-looking male elf beside her and said quickly, “Evendal, I need you to go there immediately. Head towards Startear Falls, as fast as you can, and keep an eye out for Polly and Celine along the way. If you find them, make sure they are safe first and report back immediately.”
Known as Evandar, the elf is a level 16 high-ranking druid, renowned in the Horde for his exceptional travel abilities.
He mastered the rare Swift Falcon Wild Transformation.
The Swift Falcon has a slender body, a wide wingspan, and streamlined bluish-gray feathers. It resonates with the wind element and its speed in short sprints and long-distance flights is among the best in the forest.
Without uttering a single word, Evandar calmly nodded: "Understood, Chieftain."
He took a few steps back, leaving the crowd, and his body began to radiate the light of natural power. His figure rapidly changed and shrank within the light, his bones made a slight cracking sound, and his clothes seemed to blend into his feathers.
In just two breaths, a magnificent and extraordinary swift falcon appeared on the spot!
Its bluish-gray feathers are smooth as satin, its eyes are sharp as lightning, and its outstretched wings create a gentle breeze.
Swiftwind Falcon Evandar nodded slightly to Matilda and Moran, then flapped its wings and, with an almost inaudible whooshing sound, transformed into a streak of bluish-gray light, instantly soaring into the sky and shooting towards the direction of Star Tear Waterfall in the east!
Its speed was so fast that it almost left a fleeting streak of light in the night sky.
Moran clenched his fists, his fingertips slightly cold, wishing he could cast some lucky spells on himself, or use divination magic to predict his fortune.
I just hope Evandale can bring back good news, or better yet, it's just a false alarm, that Polly and Celine were simply delayed by something interesting, and that they'll soon appear before her with the Dreamy Stardust, glistening with morning dew...
However, as time passed, the banquet came to a complete end, and the elves gradually dispersed, leaving only Mathilde, Moran, Dominic, and a few high-ranking professionals quietly waiting under the Tree of Life.
The darkness before dawn is the deepest, and the chill in the air seems to seep into your heart.
The wait was long and agonizing.
Finally, as the first hint of dawn appeared on the horizon, a bluish-gray shadow darted back from the east like an arrow, quickly descended, and folded its wings in the open space in front of the Tree of Life. A flash of light, and it transformed back into Evandar's figure.
His face was unusually grim, even carrying a hint of undisguised grief and anger, and the hem of his clothes was stained with some mud and... dark stains.
He strode up to Mathilde, his voice low and urgent: “Chief, the situation is terrible. I found this near the forest path leading to Startear Falls.”
He opened his hand, revealing several torn pieces of clothing with colorful vine patterns, as well as a small, elven-style sachet stained with mud and dark red blood. Moran immediately recognized it as the one Celine always carried with her!
"There are also obvious drag marks and numerous human footprints pointing out of the forest. Polly and Celine... they were very likely kidnapped by a human slave-hunting group!"
The word "slave-catching group" immediately made all the elves' hearts tighten.
Although the Emerald Elf tribe kept its distance from the nearest human kingdom of Loren, the elves were not unaware of the dark rumors circulating in the human world that some greedy individuals viewed elves as a rare commodity and hunted and sold them.
They never imagined that one day this would happen to them, especially to young members of their tribe who had just come of age.
"The slave-hunting gang captures elves to fetch a good price. Polly and Celine should be out of immediate danger, but their situation is definitely not good. We must act quickly! Once they leave the forest with their captives and enter human territory, their tracks will be quickly covered up or confused, making tracking much more difficult and rescue even more challenging!"
Mathilde quickly made a decision: "Lyndall, you'll lead the team! You're the most experienced and familiar with the border situation. Lila, you'll be the team's medic. Evandal, you'll lead the druids on the initial search, marking the route to make it easier for the rangers to track them down..."
Several adult rangers and druids, known in the tribe for their combat prowess, tracking skills, and adaptability, were quickly called out, each with sharp eyes and poised for action.
Moran and Dominic rushed to Chief Matilda and Elder Garros almost simultaneously.
"I want to go!" Moran's eyes were unusually firm, and she was even willing to reveal her true strength: "I am now a level 15 Druid, a level 15 Ranger, and a level 15 Bard. I am proficient in the magic of all three classes. I am familiar with their auras. I will not hold them back! Please let me join the team!"
Her words instantly drew the attention of all the elves, including Mathilde, who stared at her in disbelief.
Mathilde knew that Moran was exceptionally talented and made rapid progress, and she also noticed that Moran was studying other professions as well. But she never expected that in just a hundred years, Moran would quietly push all three of her main professions to level 15!
They can already be considered high-level professionals.
Ryan and Lila exchanged a glance and nodded slightly to Mathilde, acknowledging Moran's strength.
“Okay! Moran, I approve of you joining the rescue team!” Mathil said.
Dominic, standing nearby, quickly chimed in, "I... I may only be a level 10 Ranger, but my archery skills are excellent. I can eliminate threats from afar and create opportunities for the rescue. Chieftain, Lord Ryandor, please let me go!"
This time, Ryan Doll shook his head: "Dominic, this isn't a hunting game. We're likely to be entering human territory and facing ruthless slave hunters who may possess magic or special abilities. Your strength isn't enough!"
Dominic's face paled. He wanted to say something, but under the unquestionable gazes of Mathilde and Lendor, he could only clench his fists and take a step back in resentment.
He knew they were right; a level 10 Ranger was quite good for an elf his age, but in the complex environment deep behind enemy lines, it could indeed be a hindrance. (End of Chapter)
