The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat
Chapter 962 Ancient Tomb Forest
Sunlight struggled to penetrate the layers of branches and leaves, transforming into countless slanted beams of light, clearly visible in the misty haze.
A damp, cool breeze swept over me, and moss, humus, ancient stone, and a faint floral scent mingled together. The forces of nature, life, and death intertwined here, creating a scene even more breathtaking than I had ever imagined.
"This is it."
Moran walked slowly through this strange cemetery.
I plucked a tender green leaf, glistening with morning dew, from the top of a small tree that had struggled to emerge from a crack in a tombstone but had grown exceptionally tall.
Then, from the edge of a huge, fallen, hollow but still intact piece of rotten wood, a whole, dry, withered yellow leaf was gently removed.
Then, next to a grave surrounded by roots, a small clump of dark black, shiny humus with a cool smell was dug out.
Finally, on an ancient tombstone almost completely covered by thick moss, with only a corner exposed, a small piece of gray stone with fresh moss attached was carefully peeled off.
Newly sprouted leaves represent the beginning of life; completely withered but not rotten leaves represent natural death; humus-rich soil represents the transformation between life and death; and moss-covered tombstones represent the passage of time.
These four items are essential mediums for completing the inauguration ceremony of the Cemetery Singer.
After finding a suitable medium, Moran walked to a relatively open area in the center of the cemetery.
There stands a tombstone tree, half of which is gnarled and twisted wood, and the other half of which is covered with dark green moss and tiny ferns.
It is the place in the entire valley where the power of death and the power of nature and life intertwine most densely, making it very suitable for holding ceremonies.
Moran sat cross-legged, placed the four mediums in front of him, and completely relaxed his mind and body, trying to get close to the pulse of this land and listen to the rhythm of life and death in nature.
Then, stretching out his hands, he gently covered the tender green leaves with his left hand, while his right hand caressed the withered old leaves, and made a vow in a special chanting tone:
"It begins with the sprouting green and ends with the withered yellow;
With the fertile soil that nourishes as its chord, and the years covered by moss as its rest.
I hereby swear that I will be a listener and a singer of the rhythms of life and death.
I listen to the joyful songs of growth, and also respect the whispers of decay; I cherish the splendor of blooming, and also accept the tranquility of returning to dust.
I will not be obsessed with life and fear death, nor will I be obsessed with death and despise life.
I only wish to use my heart as a string, harmonizing the two ends, to sing the complete and eternal song of nature.
May the rhythms here resonate with me, may the flowing songs... endure forever through my voice.
As the vow was made, a sapling beside Moran seemed to straighten up a bit, a withered leaf from a high place twirled and fell, the humus under his feet seemed to warm slightly, and the moss on the stone in his hand flashed with a fleeting light.
In her personal magical space, the professional mark belonging to the Graveyard Singer lit up.
Next, we're going to Quel'Rail. This time, Moran is using his elf form and isn't disguising himself at all.
After becoming a Forest Singer, you can openly bring Squeaky, Kaba, and Moss with you.
A teleportation portal opened beside her, and the three little ones filed out, surprising Moran as soon as they appeared.
Moran had told them beforehand that there was a forest outside, and they were heading towards Quellariel, where they would also level up her Graveyard Singer class. So, as soon as Zizi appeared, she transformed into her long-absent gigantic form.
It was much larger than Moran had imagined, towering over the tallest tree in the ancient cemetery; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it a silver behemoth.
Moreover, the moss could even exist detached from the soil for a long time. It precisely and gently wrapped around the giant silver arms, torso, and neck of the creaking creature, intertwining and fixing them together. In just a few breaths, it wove a set of dark green vine armor with natural patterns that fit the creaking creature's broad, ridge-like shoulders and back.
The rattan armor is adorned with glowing moss and tiny silver bell flower-like biomimetic structures, which not only provide some protection but also look particularly beautiful.
That's not all. Sen Tai also built two comfortable seats, one large and one small, on the flat area near Zhi Zhi's left shoulder and neck.
The larger one was clearly prepared for her, with a backrest and even a structure similar to armrests, while the smaller one was like a depression, perfectly suited to Kaba's figure.
The seat surface is covered with soft, living moss cushions, and even has a few thin vines hanging down from the edges as a support strap.
Two supple vines extended down from beside the seats, like the most nimble arms, one gently wrapping around Moran's waist, the other supporting Kaba's pelvis, steadily lifting them and placing them firmly on their respective seats. The vines then released, retracting back to the edge of the seats.
Moran felt his vision suddenly broaden considerably, and he could even see the nearby cities.
She could already imagine how many stares they would attract by traveling like this: "Squeak, it's too big! Shrink a bit, just be half the height of these trees!"
As instructed, Zizi shrank, and the vine armor that Sen Tai had transformed into also shrank.
Even though it's gotten smaller, Zizi's shoulders are still quite spacious for Moran and Kaba.
This size is intimidating without being overly exaggerated.
“You guys really gave me a big surprise!” Moran pointed in the general direction of Quellariel: “Go that way, squeak.”
The giant ape squeaked and raised its head, letting out a long, deep but penetrating roar. Then, it slightly bent its knees and placed its huge feet on the ground covered with humus and moss.
The scene before Moran's eyes blurred, stretched, and then reassembled in an instant.
With one step, they had already reached the outside of the valley where the ancient tomb forest was located.
Without pausing, Zizi took the second step and in the blink of an eye reached the top of the mountain.
Moran sensed a noticeable spatial fluctuation, her voice filled with delight, "Squeak, you can now use spatial teleportation continuously to travel?"
Squeak's enormous head nodded, continuing its seemingly slow but actually incredibly fast "walking" pace, while raising a giant paw to pat its furry belly, saying with a mix of pride and craving:
"Sure! We can run all the way to Quellariel! It's just... we'll get hungry after running, but a few jugs of good wine will do the trick!"
“Okay! Plenty!” Moran agreed with a smile. She relaxed her body, leaned back in the soft wicker chair, felt the wind whistling past her ears but not being harsh, and watched the mountains, rivers, forests and lakes rushing by.
Kaba sat quietly beside her, his soul fire steady, seemingly enjoying the feeling of high-speed movement.
The moss-woven rattan armor and seats perfectly filter out bumps and most airflow, providing a comfortable and stable riding experience.
In terms of both comfort and travel speed, it's almost on par with a flying broomstick. (End of Chapter)
