Chapter 10: Cut in two
Lin Wanqing was packing her luggage, after all, she was going to town tomorrow.

Grandma Lin watched her granddaughter packing things, looked around and found that Liu Yumei was not at home, then she took out a white handkerchief from her coat pocket with trembling hands. There were some coins and banknotes in the handkerchief, including one-cent and one-yuan coins, but the money was a little wrinkled.

Lin Wanqing looked at Grandma Lin in surprise. She didn't expect that she would give her money. After all, Grandma Lin was also very patriarchal.

"Qingwa, take good care of yourself in the factory. Grandma has five dollars here. Take it first and don't let your mother know." Grandma Lin smiled, her face was wrinkled, and she looked very kind.

Grandma Lin could sense the changes in Lin Wanqing. She could sense that Lin Wanqing wanted to escape from this home. She also knew that Lin Wanqing was unhappy. But as an uneducated rural old woman, she had no choice. Although she was a bit patriarchal, she would not want her to live a bad life like her stepmother did.

Lin Wanqing looked at Grandma Lin's face, her heart suddenly softened and she said softly, "No, grandma, I can't take your money. I can make money myself." Then she held Grandma Lin's warm hand again.

At this time, Lin Wanqing's brother came back from school. Because the weather was getting colder, Lin Xiaofeng put on some thick clothes. Maybe because he was in a hurry to come back from school, the edges of his trousers were stained with mud. He sneezed and then rubbed his snot on the sleeves of his clothes.

Lin Wanqing frowned and looked at him with disdain. Before she could say anything, Grandma Lin asked him to get on the kang.

"My dear grandson, get on the kang quickly. Are you cold? Don't catch a cold." Grandma Lin narrowed her eyes and touched Lin Xiaofeng's head again.

"Grandma, I want to eat omelet!" Lin Xiaofeng shouted.

"Okay, okay, grandma will make it for you right away. Wait." After saying that, Grandma Lin went downstairs to cook for him.

Liu Yumei also came back, and she pushed the door open abruptly, mumbling something. When she came in, she saw Lin Wanqing packing her luggage. Liu Yumei frowned and said something unpleasant, "Where are you going with all these bags? Are you going back to your in-laws' house?" She smiled maliciously.

Lin Wanqing felt disgusted when she saw her fat face, so she ignored her.

Seeing that she didn't say anything, Liu Yumei walked up to her with a gloomy face, grabbed her arm, and shouted, "I told you! Are you mute? What are you doing here? I'm telling you! Don't steal anything from home!"

Lin Wanqing shook off her hand and snorted, "Do you have any heirlooms at home? You're still stealing?" She looked at Liu Yumei's smug expression, looked her up and down, and continued, "Thieves wouldn't even bother to steal these shabby things in your house! Even a mouse running in would throw you a handful of rice!"

"I didn't expect that a little girl like you could speak so eloquently, but what you say doesn't count. Give me your luggage! I have to check to see if any money has been stolen!" After saying that, Liu Yumei snatched her luggage.

Of course Lin Wanqing would not give it to her, although there was nothing in the bag, only a few clothes and a few books. The skirt was bought by Nie Tianyin and she had only worn it once, so she cherished it very much.

While the two were fighting, Lin Xiaofeng also came over to make trouble and hit Lin Wanqing twice. She couldn't hold on to her luggage because it was snatched away by Liu Yumei.

Liu Yumei rummaged through her luggage and threw it to her when she saw that she hadn't hidden any money. Before she could react, the luggage fell to the ground. Clothes and books were scattered all over the floor. Lin Xiaofeng even stepped on it on purpose, and it happened to step on the blue skirt.

Lin Wanqing pushed Lin Xiaofeng, and he fell to his knees and burst into tears.

Grandma Lin came in and pulled Lin Xiaofeng up. She bent down and wiped his tears. Her face was very distressed. Then she looked at Lin Wanqing with disappointment, sighed, and pulled Lin Xiaofeng out.

Lin Wanqing originally thought that Grandma Lin was different from other people, but it turned out that she was just being self-indulgent. She was not even a hair above her eldest grandson.

When Liu Yumei heard her son crying, she bared her teeth at Lin Wanqing, looking very ferocious, "You little bastard, have you grown wings? Do you think you are a city dweller just because you go to the town? Do you think you are awesome just because you enter the factory? I tell you! I won't give you a penny when you leave this time! I won't even bring you food!" Because she heard that you need money in the early stage of entering the factory, you need to buy some useful things, and some factories don't provide food, so most people will bring some food before entering the factory. Liu Yumei didn't let her bring anything, meaning that she wanted Lin Wanqing to fend for herself.

Lin Wanqing picked up her clothes and books, her eyes slightly red and her voice choked, but she still said it firmly, "Liu Yumei, I tell you, I... I won't take a penny from home, and I won't send a penny home! I don't plan to come back this time when I go to town! I will leave your family! Don't bother me! Don't you want to break up? Then break up!"

When she finished speaking, she was a little nervous, causing her body to tremble a little, but she forced herself to finish. After she finished speaking, she felt as if she had lost her strength and leaned against the door.

Before Liu Yumei could say anything, Lin's father came back drunk.

It might also be because he drank too much. When Father Lin heard what she said, he instantly got angry. He felt that he had worked so hard to raise her, but now she wanted to break up with him. He could never accept it.

Then Lin's father slapped Lin Wanqing.

Lin Wanqing didn't react. She covered her face and felt her ears go blank for a moment. She could only see Lin's father opening his mouth to speak but couldn't hear any sound. It took two minutes for her to react.

She held back her tears, gritted her teeth, glared at them fiercely and shouted, "Then I'll say it again! I will break off all ties with your Lin family!" After that, she ran out.

Lin Wanqing's nose was bleeding when she ran out, probably because Lin's father slapped her just now. She didn't take it seriously.

She ran with her head down without looking at the road. At this time, someone on a motorcycle almost hit Lin Wanqing.

Nie Tianyin had just come out of the house and was going to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy something. When he saw Lin Wanqing almost being hit by a car, he grabbed her and hugged her tightly. Lin Wanqing was stunned. When she looked up and saw that it was him, her emotions suddenly collapsed.

"Why do you treat me like this! What did I do wrong to come to this world! This is not fair! I want to go home..." Lin Wanqing burst into tears. She had been suppressing herself since she came to this place, and today she really couldn't hold it back anymore.

Nie Tianyin held her in his arms, listening to her hoarse voice, and felt very sad. He did not speak, just waiting for Lin Wanqing to calm down.

Lin Wanqing stopped crying after a while and came out of Nie Tianyin's arms. She looked at him with red eyes and her face, as soft as tofu, was swollen on the left side because of the slap.

Nie Tianyin saw her fragile look. He didn't care if there was anyone around. He raised his hand and gently wiped her left cheek. Seeing her sad expression, his heart began to ache.

Nie Tianyin's throat was a little dry, so he comforted her softly, took out a tissue and wiped her cheek. He said softly, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Lin Wanqing felt his warmth and wanted to say thank you, but her voice was still a little choked up, "Thank you... I won't go back to that family, I have nothing to do with them anymore. I'm going to work in the factory in town."

After saying this, he gave Nie Tianyin a bitter smile and said, "I have never had a home." Then he was about to leave.

Although Nie Tianyin didn't know what happened, he also knew vaguely. After hearing these words, he was stunned for two seconds and then chased after her, helped her carry her luggage and sent her to the factory. He also told Lin Wanqing that he would go there in two days.
