Chapter 3 Her eyes can lie

Qin Su remembered the effects of the medicine, but underestimated the tyrant's amazing physique. Only half an hour later, Chu Jiang woke up.

The first thing Crazy Guy did upon waking up was to look for his sword, but instead he grabbed a soft, boneless little hand.

It is soft and smooth, and holding it in your palm feels like holding a piece of warm jade.

Chu Jiang froze. What is that?!
He turned his head warily, only to be met with an innocent, unguarded sleeping face.

The girl was fast asleep beside his bed. Her fair and delicate face had extremely gentle and refined features, making one subconsciously feel that she must have a very good personality.

Her delicate brows held a hint of weariness, making it almost too painful to wake her.

However, before this thought could even form, Chu Jiang had already impatiently reached out his hand.

Qin Su was jolted awake by a strong force. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw the young man, who should have been asleep, with his beautiful but sickly pale eyes staring at her with a sinister gaze, like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, ready to kill at any moment.

She seemed oblivious to the ruthless killing intent he was displaying; her eyes lit up, and her sweet voice carried a hint of excitement:
"Young master, you're awake? You suddenly fainted just now, I thought, I thought I scared you into fainting, it scared me to death..." So sincere that there was no trace of acting.

Did it scare him into fainting?

This was the first time Chu Jiang had ever heard such a funny joke in his life.

And then he actually laughed.

The young man threw his head back and laughed, his body shaking with ecstasy. He was unrestrained and wild, incredibly charming and beautiful, like a banished immortal who had fallen into demonhood, or a dangerously beautiful poppy, alluring yet poisonous.

The system whispered: [See? This guy is a complete lunatic, the kind who's unpredictable and could go berserk at any moment!]

As if to confirm the system's words, the clear laughter abruptly stopped, the man's face instantly darkened, and his cold, dark eyes held a morbid madness:

"Why won't you leave? Do you really think I won't kill you?"

His sinister and ruthless appearance made it seem as if he was about to snap her neck at any moment.

Qin Su sighed silently and said to the system: "Besides your family, the only people who would still be willing to stay knowing you're sick are your doctors."

Then, a brief look of panic flashed across the girl's pretty, snow-white face. She bit her lip lightly, revealing a stubborn yet pleading look in her eyes:

"I've run into a bit of trouble and would like to borrow your place, sir..."

Chu Jiang: "Get lost!"

The girl trembled slightly, her already pale face turning even whiter, looking as if she were about to break.

Just when Chu Jiang thought she was going to keep pestering him, Qin Su suddenly lowered her head, whispered "I'm sorry," and then got up and left.

The girl's frail figure exuded a sense of dejection and despair, making her look utterly pitiful.

Chu Jiang sat on the bed, his gaze falling on the long sword on the table.

He wouldn't have let her go if he hadn't seen his sword.

Spare her life, that's considered an act of mercy.
-
Seeing Qin Su's dejected and crestfallen appearance, the system, having already successfully closed its first deal, offered her some comfort:
[This progress is already excellent, host, don't be discouraged. The tyrant just told you to get lost, he didn't kill you. You've already surpassed 80% of the people!]

The system was excited for a while before realizing that Qin Su was ignoring it. Instead, it looked like a stray cat abandoned by its owner, squatting down against the dark eaves pillar outside the tyrant's house, hugging its knees and burying its face in them, instantly exuding a pitiful aura.

Is this a way to collect money...?

System: [Host, didn't you say you'd only see the tyrant once and then leave?]

Why does it look like they're planning to settle down here?
The girl's voice sounded tired: "He can't leave. He'll have a relapse by tonight at the latest."

If she wanted to get firsthand information...
One must be present when the tyrant has an episode.

The system, unaware of its host's thoughts: [Waaaaah, host, you're working so hard!]
-
After a short rest, Chu Jiang felt much better; he even heard a faint sneeze coming from the doorway. A murderous glint appeared in his dark eyes as he strode out: "I told you to get lost!"

However, the frail girl huddled into a small ball beside the black lacquered pillar, remaining unresponsive for a long time, as if she couldn't hear him speak.

A surge of rage welled up in Chu Jiang's chest. He walked over and grabbed her slender wrist: "You don't really think I won't kill you, do you?"

The little girl, whose hand had been grabbed, belatedly raised her head, revealing an overly pink face and a pair of bewildered, innocent, watery eyes.

She was clearly looking at him, yet it was as if she wasn't looking at anyone else.

"You should be glad I'm in a good mood today."

Chu Jiang's cold voice carried a hint of mockery as he abruptly threw away the girl's hand: "Get out!"

Qin Su slowly got up from the ground: "I'm sorry, I'll leave right away... right away."

Chu Jiang sensed something was off about her, but said nothing and just watched coldly.

He refused to believe that this woman would dare to play any tricks while he was standing right there!
Qin Su didn't play any tricks; she obediently left, but after only a couple of steps, she began to stagger, and her vision became increasingly blurry.

Before she could even count to five, she fainted with a "thud".

If the tyrant were to approach, he would find that the little girl's forehead was burning hot and her face was flushed, clearly indicating that she had a fever.

System: To stay, you even stick fever patches directly on your body. Host, you're awesome!

The only problem is that the tyrant is inherently cold-hearted and has no compassion whatsoever. Even if someone dies in front of him, he won't feel any pity!
"Get up! Stop pretending to be dead!"

Chu Jiang took a few steps closer, just about to throw Qin Su out, when he heard a commotion starting in the neighboring courtyard again:

"Aunt Xu, the master has personally requested to see the Third Miss. If you don't hand her over, it won't be as simple as being forced to kneel in the ancestral hall!"

Then a strange, shrill female voice rose in volume: "How would I know where that brat has gone! It's so late and she's still not home cooking, I have nowhere to vent my anger!"

The man's long, slender fingers, which were gripping the girl's collar, paused. His eyes flashed with a dark light: "I've changed my mind. You can lie here and leave your life or death to fate."

Chu Jiang sneered as he released his hand, but the unconscious girl let out a soft moan, her soft cheek brushing against the back of his hand—hot and soft.

He seemed to have been touched by something filthy, shoving the person away violently and threatening in a harsh voice, "If you move again, I'll kill you!"

The unconscious person naturally couldn't give him any response, which made him seem like he was overreacting.

Chu Jiang turned and left in anger, his dark back seemingly carrying a chilling murderous aura.

A system that once again shatters conventional wisdom: [Seriously, this works?]

When did the tyrant become so easy to talk to?
The girl in the plain dress collapsed silently on the blue brick road, like a beautiful corpse.
-
After an unknown amount of time, dusk fell, the effects of the sleeping potion on Qin Su wore off, and she opened her eyes.

Those who succeed are often ruthless; they are ruthless to others, but even more ruthless to themselves.

System: [Luckily, the host used a fever patch; otherwise, the dampness from the ground would have gotten into your body, and you would have suffered terribly.]

Qin Su got up from the ground, her whole body aching with every movement. She didn't utter a sound; since she had already done it, there was nothing to regret.

[Host, your first check-in reward has been issued. Would you like to check it?]

Just as Qin Su was about to agree, she was interrupted by a painful roar, followed by the sound of heavy objects being swept away.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly got up from the ground, her tone certain: "He's having an attack."
