Rebirth 08: Rise from copycat phones
Chapter 263: Zhiyun is not afraid of anyone
Chapter 263: Zhiyun is not afraid of anyone
In early March, at Tesla North America, Musk looked at the two cars in front of him.
One of them is a product he is very familiar with, the Tesla S, Tesla's first truly mass-produced model and a pure electric coupe.
The model next to it is also very familiar to him. He has paid special attention to it in the past six months and even saw the real sea blue SEC last year.
In the past, he was very confident about his electric car and believed it was an absolutely high-tech product, but now he no longer has that feeling.
Because no matter from which angle you look at it, the Hailan SEC next to it is more sci-fi than his pure electric coupe, and it also has autonomous driving technology that Tesla does not have.
In the past six months, he has been staring at these two electric cars whenever he has nothing to do, often for more than ten or twelve minutes or even longer, frowning and thinking about something.
The two electric cars in front of us are the latest improved models of the two products. Tesla S is the second batch of mass-produced products, and Hailan SEC is the third batch of mass-produced products after adjustments and improvements. It is also the first batch to be launched and delivered in North America.
At this time, the Tesla engineer next to him said: "We have upgraded the interior of the second batch of mass-produced vehicles, made certain adjustments to the on-board screen, ambient light and overall design, greatly enhancing the sci-fi feel of the interior of the vehicle, and made detailed adjustments to the front face of the vehicle, further abandoning the traditional front face design of cars and moving closer to the future sense of technology!"
"In our first batch of designs, we paid too much attention to traditional cars, which resulted in a lack of science fiction. This was not a problem before, but now that we have the Hailan SEC, people always like to compare our cars with the Hailan SEC, and then draw some not-so-good conclusions."
“So we made design adjustments over the past six months and applied them to the second batch!”
“All vehicles officially delivered this year will be new models with new exterior and interior designs!”
"In the field of batteries and electronic controls, we are not inferior to the Hailan SEC at all. In fact, because we use ternary lithium batteries, our battery life is even better. We also have certain advantages in the vehicle's 0-100km/h acceleration and maximum speed."
Musk paid no attention to these. He still crossed his arms and frowned as he looked at the two cars in front of him. After a while, he turned to the group of engineers behind him and said, "When can you give me a self-driving Tesla?"
"Don't tell me about the appearance, interior and other irrelevant things. There's no need to talk about the range and speed. Now tell me, when can I see a Tesla that can drive itself?"
He looked up at the group of engineers and said, "I know that autonomous driving technology is very difficult, but don't tell me it's impossible. The Hailan car has already been built, which has proved the feasibility of the technology. Now... who can tell me when we can develop this damn autonomous driving?"
The group of engineers below all lowered their heads and no one spoke!
Looking at everyone's expressions, Musk suddenly sighed: "Forget it, go back to work, let me be quiet!"
As everyone left, Musk stood for a while, then walked to the side of his own Tesla S, opened the door, sat in, and then closed his eyes slightly.
At this moment, in his mind, a Tesla equipped with autonomous driving technology has appeared, speeding through the streets and alleys quickly and agilely!
That's the Tesla he wants, not just an electric car like now...
What he wants is not just an electric car, but a highly intelligent Tesla that can drive itself, or even drive unmanned in the future.
Unfortunately, autonomous driving technology is not easy to develop!
Scenes like what happened just now where pressure was put on R&D employees have occurred several times in the past six months!
Musk's attitude is becoming more and more impatient.
At the beginning, Musk was able to encourage everyone with a smile and asked everyone to work hard together.
However, as the development of the autonomous driving project was delayed again and again, Musk's attitude became increasingly tough. Now he no longer cares about his decency and even swears.
Those who are familiar with him know that Musk has never been a mild-tempered person. In fact, many people comment on him like this: he always puts pressure on his employees, and keeps putting pressure on them!
Especially in the field of technological research and development, he would whip the R&D personnel from behind to constantly urge them to make progress.
"He hates it when people say 'this is impossible', especially when it's impossible without thinking!"
And in the autonomous driving research and development project, his means of exerting pressure are fully demonstrated!
In the past six months, he has even rarely visited the Space Exploration Company. He has basically spent most of his time at Tesla, personally overseeing research and development projects.
But the more he watched it in person, the more he felt the difficulty of autonomous driving technology... This broken thing actually had to be developed from computing chips, big data models and even artificial intelligence.
Because these are the foundations of autonomous driving technology... If you don’t even have the foundation, how can you talk about autonomous driving!
FUCK, this is totally a cross-industry move!
Until now, Musk still doesn't understand how Xu Shenxue, who has no science and engineering background and knows nothing about technology, created the dreamlike Ocean Blue SEC on the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
Yes, although he never told anyone, to him the Hailan SEC was like a dream car, just like the Tesla of the future he imagined.
The design is sci-fi and fashionable, and it is equipped with many high-tech technologies, including automatic driving!
The sea-blue SEC almost perfectly matches his imagination of future cars!
Well...actually it's not just him. In fact, most bosses or managers in the automotive industry have similar views on HaiLan SEC: HaiLan SEC represents the future of cars!
Even if you hate Xu Shenxue and HaiLan Automobile,... you cannot deny that HaiLan SEC is really good.
This car seems to come from the future.
The kind that makes people despair when they see it.
Its autonomous driving technology is truly black technology at the moment. Before this, you could only see related descriptions in science fiction movies and novels, but Xu Shenxue actually made it.
What Musk couldn't understand was how Xu Shenxue, a guy who many technical experts thought knew nothing about technology and had only two bucks, could lead others to create such a high-tech product?
Unlike Xu Shenxue who doesn't understand technology, Musk comes from a science and engineering background. He knows a little bit about all kinds of technologies, so he can always grasp the key to the problem, and then invest funds and R&D personnel in a targeted manner to carry out key blasting.
Unlike Xu Shenxue, who couldn't even understand some professional technical reports of his own products, and needed his subordinates to translate some professional technical documents into simple and popular reports before he could understand them.
Musk understands technology. He even personally participates in the research and development of autonomous driving technology and has made focused investments in some key issues.
It can be said that he has more advantages than any boss or executive in any current automobile manufacturer.
He has the power to decide on funding and investment resources, and he is also able to see where the problems lie and then make targeted investments. His R&D efficiency can be said to be far higher than that of other traditional car companies.
However... the more he got into it, the more difficult it became.
Just like I said before... I changed my career.
Autonomous driving technology may seem like a technical function of a car, but in fact its underlying technology has nothing to do with the traditional automotive field.
Artificial intelligence... FUCK!
Don't count on artificial intelligence for the time being. All the major companies, such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other high-tech giants, have invested huge amounts of money in research and development, but they are all in great trouble.
Because traditional big data models and neural networks are simply not enough to support the level of artificial intelligence developed by Zhiyun Group.
In fact, everyone knows that Zhiyun Group must have used some special technology to develop an underlying artificial intelligence technology framework algorithm, and then used this algorithm to make some terminal products, such as voice assistants in smart terminals, and now the damn autonomous driving.
The question is... what is this specific algorithm!
No one knows, it's someone else's trade secret.
Zhiyun Group has not even applied for a patent for this, let alone announced it to the public... They didn't even give it a name.
Of course, although the detailed technical route has not been announced, there are many smart people these days, so we can roughly guess the technical route of Zhiyun Group, such as the field of deep learning.
Unfortunately, quite a number of foreign experts who are conducting research in this field have already been recruited by Zhiyun in advance.
For example, Geoffrey Hinton, a professor of computer science at the University of Toronto, accepted the invitation of Zhiyun Group as early as 10 and joined the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Zhiyun Group, and he is also one of the vice presidents of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.
In fact, an important branch of artificial intelligence technology in Zhiyun Group, namely image processing technology, is based on the convolutional neural network technology he proposed, and this technology is also one of the underlying technologies that constitute the pure visual processing solution for unmanned driving.
The pure visual processing solution in the autonomous driving technology developed by the unmanned driving team is a model that is built based on the core algorithm of this technology and then trained on a large scale.
By the way, the so-called artificial intelligence, at least the artificial intelligence developed by Zhiyun Group, is not the artificial intelligence life mentioned in science fiction novels, or a super AI or something like that. In fact, this is a very broad and general concept.
The artificial intelligence under Zhiyun Group is actually divided into several branches, but basically they are all based on deep learning theory to build algorithms, and then use a huge array of AI chip servers and massive amounts of data to train AI models.
Then terminal applications are carried out based on this model.
The so-called artificial intelligence is actually just a data model.
But saying it this way loses its sci-fi flavor and is of no benefit to marketing, so Zhiyun Group gave its own big data model technology the name of artificial intelligence.
In fact, most of the other technology giants that are catching up are taking a similar path.
Artificial intelligence these days is actually nothing new to people in the industry. It’s just machine learning and even deep learning.
The question is how to build better algorithms for better and more efficient machine learning.
In this regard, what matters is the brain!
The minds of smarter R&D personnel can build better and more efficient algorithms.
In this field, Zhiyun Group has huge natural advantages. The all-round improvements brought about by the scientific research system are actually more useful in these purely brain-intensive fields.
It's not like material research and development, which requires not only brains but also luck and time...and the scientific research system is powerless when it comes to the metaphysical field of luck.
Therefore, in recent years, among the many R&D fields in Zhiyun Group, material R&D is the most difficult, consuming countless R&D funds and various resources of the group every year, but with few results.
As for some research and development fields that rely purely on the brain, such as various artificial intelligence algorithms, operating systems, various miscellaneous software, engineering design, etc., Zhiyun Group is like a cheat, doing it simply and smoothly, and its progress is far ahead of other peer companies.
In the field of artificial intelligence, to exaggerate a little, algorithms are everything...and this happens to be the area where Zhiyun Group excels.
There is no R&D department of any company or institution that can be more powerful than the Zhiyun Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in the field of algorithms that rely purely on brains... It is impossible because they do not have a scientific research system.
Therefore, Zhiyun Group can produce better and more efficient algorithms... Then, Zhiyun Group does not allow you to play with open source. Not to mention open source, it does not even explain the technical principles, nor does it apply for patents. Everything is kept strictly hidden.
So outsiders can only stare blankly.
You clearly know how he did it, but you just can't copy it!
In fact, Zhiyun has opened up many fields to the public. A typical example is the Android operating system. A large number of mobile phone manufacturers use the Anyuan open source system, and Zhiyun has contributed more than 50% of the underlying code. If Zhiyun does not update the Android open source system one day, Google can only watch helplessly, and other mobile phone manufacturers will be dumbfounded.
In addition, Zhiyun Group has also contributed a large number of other open source projects, many of which are important in the field of consumer electronics.
So many people ridicule some so-called high-tech companies: When Zhiyun was open source, you boasted about your innovation every day; once Zhiyun stopped being open source, you all rolled your eyes...
This eye-roll refers to the field of artificial intelligence, because Zhiyun Group did not choose open source.
Artificial intelligence technology is also the underlying technology of autonomous driving technology, so it is quite difficult to implement.
In addition to these, cooperation from the semiconductor field is also needed!
After disassembling the internal structure of the Hailan SEC, many people will find that the standard version of the Hailan SEC's car system will be equipped with four slightly larger special chips, while the models equipped with optional advanced automatic assisted driving solutions will be equipped with eight such chips.
And these special chips cannot be found on the market at all!
Because this chip is an automotive-grade computing chip developed by Zhiyun Semiconductor specifically for unmanned driving technology or other large mobile terminals: YEQ01.
In fact, this type of chip is not entirely self-developed by Zhiyun. Its technology source actually comes from Mobileye, a company that Zhiyun acquired for more than $1 billion two years ago.
The company makes automotive-grade computing chips and corresponding visual algorithms, and provides automakers with a series of assisted driving technologies such as pedestrian detection, lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
Of course, when Zhiyun acquired the company, its business scale was actually very small, with only 200,000 to 300,000 sets sold in total. The company fell into the embarrassing situation of having technology but being unaccepted by the market.
This is also an important reason why they accepted Zhiyun's acquisition. The market cannot be developed in a short time and there is no hope. In addition, Zhiyun is really generous in paying money, directly paying more than 1 billion US dollars for a full acquisition.
After acquiring the company, Zhiyun Semiconductor used the company's existing technology and patents to begin building technology based on visual recognition solutions, including the development of a newer generation of automotive-grade computing chips and more advanced autonomous driving algorithms in conjunction with the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.
Originally, when Zhiyun Group acquired this thing, it actually wanted to develop real driverless cars... The driverless car project team in the Zhiyun Group's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute has always aimed to develop L4 level autonomous driving technology, and look forward to L5 level autonomous driving technology in the long run.
As for the assisted driving technology that Hailan is currently using, it is nominally L2+++, but in fact it has already reached the threshold of L3. It is just a supplementary product.
By the way, after Mobileye was acquired by Zhiyun, it continued to operate externally, producing and selling some of their original automotive-grade chip business lines, and became a pure vision technology assisted driving supplier for a large number of automobile manufacturers.
So, when you see cars from automakers such as BMW, GM and Volvo equipped with technologies such as lane keeping and adaptive cruise control, don't doubt it. They are actually using a one-stop solution of automotive-grade chips and algorithms from Mobileye, a subsidiary of Zhiyun Group.
However, at present, two branches have emerged in the fields of automotive-grade chips and algorithms under Zhiyun. One is the general market products of its subsidiary Mobileye, which mainly focuses on low-end assisted driving, such as EyeQ1 and EyeQ2 chips and corresponding algorithms, sensors and other supporting equipment.
The other branch is the in-depth development and research by the unmanned vehicle project team, which mainly focuses on unmanned driving and uses some additional products, such as assisted driving technology with YEQ chips as the core, on Hailan cars to recover part of the R&D funds and collect more data.
Because in this entire system, the algorithm and the automotive-grade chip are directly bound together. In fact... Zhiyun Group did not even transfer the algorithm to Hailan Automobile. Instead, it directly packaged the algorithm into the chip and provided a complete set of technical solutions of sensor + chip + algorithm.
The hardware core inside is naturally the YEQ1 automotive-grade computing chip, which is produced using a 2.5-nanometer process. The computing power of a single chip reaches 2TOPS. The automotive-grade computing chip EyeQ0.026 sold by the subsidiary has a pitiful computing power of only TOPS.
The difference between the two is ninety-six times!
Just by looking at the difference in computing power of the chips, you can easily and clearly understand why Hailan Automobile can achieve such smooth, nearly autonomous advanced assisted driving, while other vehicles can only achieve some very low-end assisted driving.
However, even with the YEQ1 chip, a single chip cannot support Hailan Automobile's L2+++ assisted driving.
Therefore, the standard version of Hailan SEC, which is a pure vision-assisted driving solution, adopts a four-chip layout, which can provide a total computing power of 10TOPS.
In advanced automatic assisted driving models, because they also need to integrate lidar data, more data needs to be processed, and therefore higher computing power requirements are placed on them. Therefore, the unmanned vehicle project team has provided a crazy eight-chip combination for this purpose, which can provide 20TOPS of computing power.
This is just enough to meet the computing power required by Hailan Automobile's L2+++ level advanced automatic assisted driving solution.
This is also the reason why many people will see a lot of large chips inside the Hailan SEC after disassembling it.
In addition to special computing chips such as YEQ1, there are also some general automotive-grade chips that are used to process a large number of electronic controls and vehicle-mounted systems, etc.
Therefore, a Hailan SEC contains a large number of various high-specification chips.
Many of the core chips are exclusive products of Zhiyun Semiconductor and are not sold to the outside world.
This also means that for many automobile manufacturers, even if they have developed an assisted driving algorithm that meets the L3 level, there are no automotive-grade high-computing power chips available.
As for ordinary L2 assisted driving... you don’t even need to do research and development. The EyeQ2 package of technical solutions provided by Zhiyun’s subsidiary, from chips to algorithms to cameras, is sold to you directly in a package.
After you purchase and install it directly, you can get assisted driving functions such as lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
But don't expect the car to provide full-time advanced automatic assisted driving based on the onboard navigation.
Putting aside the algorithm, in the current environment, the only chip that can achieve this level of functionality is the YEQ1 chip from Zhiyun Semiconductor.
But this thing is only supplied exclusively to Hailan Automobile by Zhiyun.
Zhiyun Group has clearly informed all major automobile manufacturers that based on the strategic cooperation agreement between Zhiyun Group and HaiLian Automobile, HaiLian Automobile has the exclusive right to cooperate and use this technology within three years. Zhiyun Group is a contract-abiding and responsible enterprise and will not violate the contract.
So I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do! However, our subsidiary Mobileye has an assisted driving technology solution based on EyeQ2, which is also very good for assisted driving. Would you like to get one?
Make a friend and get you a 150% discount...
Why is it a 150% discount?
Because it was 200% before the discount!
Do you think you are the only one who came to us? All the car companies of a certain scale on the earth have come to us!
That is to say, the price was only increased by 150% because we are friends, otherwise it would have been 200%.
What's more, a group of car companies, as a second choice, actually purchased the EyeQ2 technology solution, and then took it back to try to do assisted driving on their own.
Without mentioning anything else, it is necessary to have adaptive cruise control, otherwise we will be really behind the times.
Even Tesla, after thinking about it for a long time, found Mobileye and wanted to try cooperation. However, after trying it, Tesla felt that the chip was not good, the computing power was too poor, and the assisted driving effect was too poor, which could not achieve the effect they wanted at all.
Even if we can't come up with the advanced automatic assisted driving technology like the Hailan SEC, we should at least have the assisted driving technology of the standard version of the Hailan SEC.
Musk looked down on this low-level assisted driving technology, so he gritted his teeth and continued to develop the algorithm. At the same time, he found Nvidia and wanted to work together to develop automotive-grade computing chips.
This is what Musk does!
As for those traditional automobile manufacturers, they all have loud slogans, but few of them actually do anything. Instead, they all come to Mobileye to place orders for low-level assisted driving technology solutions.
This is not only true for international manufacturers, but also for domestic automobile manufacturers!
Asking them to develop automotive-grade chips is nonsense... Asking them to develop autonomous driving algorithms is even more nonsense.
But we have to follow the trend of assisted driving. Looking around the world, only Mobileye, a company under Zhiyun next door, can provide this thing.
So one by one they came to us for cooperation.
The autonomous driving craze set off by HaiLan SEC has also greatly stimulated the promotion and popularization of assisted driving technology. Mobileye, a company under Zhiyun Group, sells assisted driving technology solutions and makes a lot of money.
The various actions of other automobile manufacturers have not affected the continued momentum of HaiLan SEC around the world.
------
After the official delivery in the European Union and the United States, a batch of more than 1,000 Hailan SECs were officially delivered to the Japanese market.
On the day of delivery, the local Japanese media paid great attention to the matter, and many TV stations took turns to report on it.
This reminds many people of the scene when Zhiyun's S9 mobile phone was launched in Japan!
There was also overwhelming news coverage at the time, but the industry was silent!
That evening, a talk show was held in a studio in Tokyo. Tokyo TV invited senior executives from Toyota and some relevant technical experts to have an extensive discussion on the Hailan SEC.
The result of the discussion is: Hailan SEC is amazing, but its impact is limited.
One of their professor-level scholars commented on Hailan SEC: "It is really good, enough to shock anyone who sees it for its sci-fi attributes, especially its self-driving technology is unparalleled."
"But we must know that the average selling price of Hailan SEC in several major markets around the world is more than 130,000 US dollars."
"And mainstream passenger cars in the automotive market are often priced at only $20,000 to $30,000, and the most expensive ones are no more than $40,000 to $50,000!"
"The huge cost of electric cars means that they are just toys for the rich and will never become the mainstream of the automotive industry!"
"Just like the various supercars in the era of fuel vehicles, top luxury cars, Ferrari, McLaren, or Rolls-Royce, Maybach, are these cars good?"
"Of course it would be great. Who doesn't want to own a supercar or luxury car? I want it too!"
“But unfortunately, most people can’t afford these luxury cars!”
"And the Hailan SEC is a very good luxury car, but I can't afford it... Although it has more technological attributes, I just can't afford it!"
"Luxury models are destined to have low sales, let alone influence on the entire automotive industry."
"In addition, I must mention that in the field of new energy vehicles, electric vehicles have never been a suitable development direction for new energy vehicles. The future development path of new energy vehicles will undoubtedly be hydrogen energy vehicles. In the field of hydrogen energy vehicles, we in Japan have made sufficient preparations!"
In the field of hydrogen energy, Japan is indeed well prepared. They have registered almost all the patents that can be registered, and they are all patents in some application fields!
However, they do not participate in the research and development of core technologies. For example, in the field of hydrogen energy storage, which is technically extremely difficult, they simply lie down and do nothing, waiting for other countries to take advantage of them.
Once other countries have developed core underlying technologies such as hydrogen energy storage, the Japanese will be able to make money by relying on a large number of patented application-level technologies.
These Japanese people always feel happy when they think of this, and they probably even boast that they are as smart as me...
Then...car companies in China, the United States, and Europe all tacitly gave up on the hydrogen energy track and went straight to electric vehicles.
It is impossible in the world to get all the benefits without spending any money.
I'm going to play with electric cars, you go play with hydrogen energy!
So now when Japanese people see Hailan SEC or Tesla in the United States, they have very complicated feelings...
It's impossible to say that you are not envious, but it's also impossible to ask them to do the same.
There are many reasons, but the core is just one: it is difficult to turn a big ship around!
It is not just the Japanese auto industry that is finding it difficult to transform. Other large international automakers are also finding it difficult to transform, including Ford and General Motors in the United States, Volkswagen Group and BMW Group in Germany, Renault in France, Hyundai in South Korea, and so on.
In fact, with the advent of the electric vehicle era, the difficulty of transformation has been quite great.
Because the traditional automobile industry chain is very large, any move will affect the entire system.
You said you want to develop electric cars, so what about the engine department? What about the transmission department? What about a lot of other supporting companies?
Throw it all away and starve to death?
This is impossible!
Furthermore, the current automobile market is still dominated by fuel vehicles, and as a large automobile group that controls the core technology of fuel vehicles, they can make huge profits by relying on fuel vehicles.
To be honest, it is not realistic to ask them to give up the profits from the fuel vehicle business and develop electric vehicles.
Therefore, starting last year, after Hailan and Tesla successively launched mass-produced electric vehicles, these traditional large automobile groups were also in a difficult position. They didn’t know whether to follow or not.
But relatively speaking, American and European automobile groups are more pragmatic. They continue to develop fuel vehicles, but also invest resources in electric vehicles.
Japanese automakers are more stubborn and prefer to promote the continued development of fuel vehicles.
Unlike a number of domestic automobile manufacturers, they have nothing and are destined to be beaten in the era of fuel vehicles!
Therefore, when the era of electric vehicles arrived, everyone saw the opportunity to open up a new track, and then they all rushed in.
Amidst numerous bombardment reports from the Japanese media, HaiLan SEC started delivery in the Japanese market, followed by the West Asian market, and then some small-scale national or regional markets.
Just when Hailan SEC was sweeping the world.
At the Qianshan International Conference Center in Shenzhen, Zhiyun Group also held its first press conference of the year, which is the spring press conference.
This year's press conference was not as grand. Xu Shenxue did not even participate in person. Instead, the group's senior vice president Ji Chenghe was fully responsible for hosting and introducing the event.
The new generation of Yun Book13/14 notebooks have been launched to the market. The new generation of notebooks continue to use Intel chips and built-in integrated graphics cards, but other components, such as memory, flash memory and chipsets, use Zhiyun Group's own products.
Even the screen is from China Star Technology, a screen supply chain company under the group.
There is not much change in appearance, it still has the old aluminum alloy body with the Baiyun logo of Zhiyun Group.
In addition to notebooks, a new generation of smart sports watches were also launched, which are also so-called upgrades, but there are not many changes in essence. The performance is better, the content ecosystem is richer, and there are some minor modifications to the appearance, but there is nothing eye-catching.
Smart watches were very novel when they were first introduced, but now they are not so novel anymore.
Finally, there are tablet computers, about which there are quite a few news.
After all, it uses a new generation of 404-bit quad-core chip S, paired with a brand new -bit YunPAD OS operating system. This combination is somewhat novel and can be considered innovative.
In addition, a thirteen-inch version has been added to the traditional nine-inch and eleven-inch versions.
A tablet computer of this size is actually almost the same size as many 13.3-inch laptops.
A protective case with an attached Bluetooth keyboard is also provided, which can transform the tablet into a product similar to an ultra-thin notebook.
At the same time, the S404 chip can also provide powerful performance for running various mobile office software, which makes this tablet computer have certain light office performance.
Of course, it only has some light office performance and is greatly limited by the software ecosystem. In terms of function, it is still far from being able to replace traditional notebooks.
However, Zhiyun Group had already anticipated this. This was just an attempt, and also an accumulation of technology and ecology.
The basic strategy set by Zhiyun Group's PC business group is to first use high-performance large-size tablets to accumulate the corresponding software ecosystem and provide certain basic ecological content for future ARM-based notebooks.
After the release of these three major Zhiyun smart terminal products, sales were as usual with a small initial boom, and then quickly entered a stable sales period like an old dog.
After the spring launch conference, Xu Shenxue did not pay too much attention to the launch and sales of these new products. It didn’t matter whether he paid attention to them or not. It was impossible for them to explode, after all, the total market capacity was there. But it was also impossible for them to decrease, as Zhiyun’s appeal and product strength were there.
This is also the reason why Zhiyun's ecological products are as stable as an old dog and there are not too many waves.
Of course, the overall growth rate has been maintained.
If we want to truly detonate the market and further significantly expand the group's revenue, we must rely on the group's core business this year, which is the mobile phone business.
Whether it is the S series mobile phone, the A series mobile phone, or the mid-range C series mobile phone.
Here, if any series of mobile phones can perform well and exceed market expectations, it will be able to bring sales growth of more than tens of millions of units.
Unlike laptops, tablets, and smart watches, the sales volume is at most tens of millions of units and there is no way to increase it much.
Therefore, in late March, Xu Shenxue began to conduct intensive inspections around this year's mobile phone business products.
The first thing we look at is still the core components in the mobile phone field, which is also the SOC product that leads Zhiyun mobile phones and brings unique advantages.
"This year, our mobile phones will use the S400 series chips, with a 13-nanometer process. The S403 in the flagship S13, the S402 in the A401, and the S in the C series will all use a quad-core chip architecture with two large cores and two small cores. All three use the same chip architecture, with only a difference in main frequency."
"The high-performance version of this chip, S404, has already been used in our tablet computers."
"These chips used in mobile phones have also begun small-scale trial production at Zhiyun Microelectronics for testing our mobile phones and subsequent adaptation work."
At this time, Fu Zhengyang took out a small chip and showed it to Xu Shenxue.
Xu Shenxue said: "This chip is pretty good. I hope it can continue to maintain its leading edge!"
In addition to looking at the SOC, Xu Shenxue also took a look at the advanced memory and flash memory that Zhiyun Semiconductor is preparing to use in the next generation of mobile phones.
"This is our first generation of LPDDR3 memory. Last year, the open organization 'Joint Electron Device Engineering Committee' announced a new generation of technical standards. We designed a new generation of low-power mobile memory based on this technical standard."
"This new low-power mobile memory has very powerful performance."
"At the same time, we also adopted the 25-nanometer process that Zhiyun Microelectronics successfully developed at the end of last year to produce this kind of memory chip!"
"In terms of overall power consumption and performance, it is in the first echelon in the current low-power memory field, and is no worse than the same type of memory from the next-door four-star brand."
Xu Shenxue said: "Since we have come up with a good product, we should not hide it, let alone save it. We should popularize it this year. We can't let down the trust of consumers!"
In the field of mobile phone memory, Zhiyun Technology is actually still a little behind in this area last year and even now, because the four stars are not fair and just launched LPDDR3 memory in the second half of last year, and then installed it in some mobile phones, tablets and other products.
We agreed that everyone would use LPDDR2, but you, Four Stars, secretly used LPDDR3 in advance... Zhiyun is very dissatisfied with this!
Zhiyun accelerated its research and development and developed its own LPDDR3 memory, which has been first installed on the new generation of tablet computers launched earlier. This year's two high-end flagship phones of Zhiyun will also use it.
As for the C series, it is already very good to be able to use last year's LPDDR2.
You have to consider the cost.
The new high-end spare parts are quite expensive, and the price of C series mobile phones cannot support the use of such high-end spare parts.
Of course, ordinary consumers generally cannot tell the difference between LPDDR2 and LPDDR3, and usually only distinguish the memory capacity.
Moreover, most mobile phone manufacturers will not actively announce the use of the most advanced LPDDR3 unless they do so, such as Zhiyun and Fruit.
Most other mobile phone manufacturers will not say what technical standard of running memory they use... In order to control costs, they use old and backward products. Why mention it? You will only get criticized!
Even Zhiyun rarely talks about these detailed technical parameters. Zhiyun often prefers to talk about things about user experience and will not compare hardware parameters with you.
Although Zhiyun can win the competition, it will harm the brand.
Because Zhiyun has never obtained such a high premium by relying on its leading hardware performance, but rather by relying on quality workmanship, actual usage experience, ecological content, brand appeal, etc.
And don't overestimate ordinary people's understanding of the parameters of technological products.
Some people even directly regard the flash memory capacity in the mobile phone as the running memory capacity.
When talking about the amount of memory, they say their phone has 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of memory.
As for how much RAM is there? They don’t know. Many mobile phone users don’t even know there is such a concept as RAM.
As for further distinguishing whether the running memory uses LPDDR3 memory, LPDDR2 memory, or even the older traditional DDR2 low-voltage version... that is too difficult.
Most users do not understand the hardware parameters, which is actually one of the main reasons why many users choose to buy Zhiyun S series mobile phones.
You don’t need to understand anything about hardware parameters. As long as you buy our Zhiyun S series mobile phone, you will definitely be able to buy the best and top-level mobile phone at the moment!
This is the brand trust built on the excellent performance and quality of high-end flagship phones over the past few years.
Users trust Zhiyun, so they buy it without thinking!
Therefore, in order to maintain this brand trust, Zhiyun never hesitates in stacking hardware on the S series mobile phones... Even though Zhiyun doesn't like to promote its own hardware parameters, the hardware parameters of Zhiyun's S series mobile phones have always been top-notch.
The widespread adoption of LPDDR3 this year is also a reflection of this!
Zhiyun always brings the best products to consumers!
Well, it’s limited to flagship models only!
Now the monthly tickets are doubled, and those who have spare monthly tickets can vote.
