In terms of sales and commercial value, "A Wonderful Journey" can't even reach the level of "The Dancing Girl of Izu".

The latter was adapted into film and television dramas as many as five times during the era of Yasunari Kawabata. Kawabata Yasunari was in Japan at that time like Jin Yong in Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s, and was the darling of the film and television drama adaptation industry.

In terms of depth and literary value, it is completely inferior to Kawabata Yasunari's masterpieces such as "The Old Capital", "Thousand Cranes" and "Snow Country", which are the epitome of Kawabata Yasunari's aesthetics.

Just like "Asakusa Red Ball" he wrote when he was young, "A Wonderful Journey" is a product of the times and has its special value and significance. Under normal circumstances, it would not be considered a bombshell in the Japanese literary world of any era.

But its plot about the deaf and mute and its depth of thinking perfectly met Kitagawa Hide's needs this time.

Especially in the novel, the support that the deaf-mute siblings provide to their friend's family far away in the suburbs, and their intention to encourage their friend to leave the world of the deaf-mute and seek education and life in big cities, will inevitably have a great impact on the deaf-mute children in this world.

In any era, this special group of people needs a "weather vane" to guide them to find hope and direction in their confused lives.

"A Wonderful Journey" is obviously the most suitable work for them and also the most suitable work for Hide Kitagawa.

The problem is that its popularity is not even as high as that of "Asakusa Red Circle", and the original novel describes a lot of war-era Japan, and its world view background is actually somewhat incompatible with modern Japan.

Since the creation of the work, Kitagawa Hide has deeply understood that if he simply transfers the content of the original work to the present Japan to save time, it will inevitably produce a large number of unexpected contradictions and bugs.

Since I have been pushed to the position of "the best in the world" in the Japanese literary world by my readers, I should at least write something decent instead of simply modifying and copying and pasting.

However, "Children of the Dark" is an outlier among Japanese films.
