Chapter 63 The Pain of Despair

Suddenly, Tanjiro discovered that Nezuko was not among them. A faint hope flashed in his heart.

"Nezuko! Nezuko!"

He stumbled to his feet and rushed to the rooms of the house. Tanjiro's movements became more and more hurried, and the panic in his eyes gradually deepened.

Finally, he came to the door to the backyard. Tanjiro stretched out his hand to open the door, and the next moment, his body froze in place as if struck by lightning.

Under the moonlight, a dark monster was holding Nezuko. The monster lowered its head, its fangs deeply sunk into Nezuko's shoulders, and continued to gnaw at Nezuko's body.

Tanjiro's pupils suddenly contracted. He saw that Nezuko's chest was still rising and falling slightly. She was still alive, but her eyes had lost their former luster and became empty and dim.

At this moment, Nezuko slowly turned her head and met Tanjiro's gaze. Her lips moved slightly and she uttered two words silently:

"Run quickly."

At this moment, something in Tanjiro's body seemed to break. Rage erupted in his chest like a volcano, and his rationality was instantly devoured.

“Ahhhhhhhh!!” Tanjiro let out a heart-wrenching roar.

He rushed towards the monster, bent down, grabbed a stone, and smashed it on the monster's head.

"Bang!" With a dull sound, the stone hit the monster's back of the head heavily.

The monster suddenly paused and stopped eating. It slowly stood up and turned its head.

When the monster stood up completely, an invisible pressure came upon him. The monster was more than twice as tall as him, and its huge body almost filled the entire door frame.

"Your appetite has been ruined, you rude kid! Didn't your mom teach you not to disturb others while they are eating!!!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the monster suddenly raised one foot and kicked Tanjiro hard.

Tanjiro didn't even have time to react before he felt a huge force hit his chest. His body was instantly blown away, passing through the wooden wall like a fallen leaf and flying out of the house.

Tanjiro fell heavily to the snow and rolled several times in the cold snow before coming to a stop.

The monster strode up to Tanjiro, stretched out his thick arms, grabbed Tanjiro by the chest and lifted him up, looking at his face carefully.

"Come to think of it, you seem to look a lot like this family. No way, are you a relative of theirs?"

Tanjiro opened his eyes with difficulty and saw the monster's hideous face close at hand.

The monster suddenly burst into a creepy laugh, put its mouth close to Tanjiro's ear and said:

"Haha, let me tell you, your sister is really delicious. I'm very satisfied!"

This sentence was like a sharp knife, instantly piercing Tanjiro's heart. He opened his eyes wide, tears flowing uncontrollably.

"what!"

Tanjiro raised his head sharply and roared, then used all his strength to hit the monster's chin.

"Crack!"

A crisp sound was particularly clear in the silent night sky. The monster's jaw was knocked to one side by the sudden impact.

"You damned little devil!" the monster roared.

There was a gleam of cruelty in its eyes, and it lifted Tanjiro over its head as easily as waving a straw.

Before Tanjiro could react, he felt a huge force suddenly push him down.

"boom!"

Tanjiro's body hit the hard ground hard. Intense pain instantly swept through his body like an electric current, and he felt his breathing stagnate, as if the air in his lungs was squeezed out by this blow.

At this moment, the monster's figure loomed over him. Its claws, covered with sharp nails, were raised high, flashing a cold light.

"Die!" The monster grinned and its claws stabbed at Tanjiro's chest like lightning.

At this critical moment, Tanjiro's mind flashed with the smiling faces of his family. "Am I going to die?" Tanjiro felt a deep sense of sorrow and guilt in his heart, "I'm sorry, Mom, Nezuko, I didn't protect you."

He closed his eyes, waiting for death to come. However, the expected pain did not come.

The next second, Tanjiro felt a warm liquid splashing on his face. He opened his eyes suddenly, and the scene in front of him froze him instantly.

Grandpa Sanlang was standing in front of him, and the monster's claws pierced deeply into the old man's chest.

"You old thing, you are really tired of living."

Tanjiro's eyes widened as he listened to the monster's words, another person died in front of him, for saving him.

An unprecedented rage erupted in his heart. His chest rose and fell violently, and his breathing became rapid. The blood rushed through his body like a mountain torrent.

Tanjiro's eyes suddenly fell on Grandpa Saburo's hand. The hatchet slipped from the old man's weak hand and lay in a pool of blood, with the blade reflecting the faint moonlight.

The next moment, his body seemed to be driven by an invisible force, and he pounced on the hatchet beside Grandpa Sanlang.

His movements were so fast that before he could even react, his hand had already tightly grasped the hilt of the knife.

"what?!"

The monster looked at the young man in front of him in disbelief. The young man who had just been dying suddenly burst out with such amazing speed and strength.

Tanjiro swung his sword, and the blade cut through the air, making a sharp whistling sound. The monster hastily raised his arm to block, but underestimated the power of the attack.

"Pfft!"

The next moment, the hatchet had pierced through the monster's arm. Blood gushed out, instantly dyeing the surrounding snow red. The monster's arm fell off, and it looked at its broken arm in disbelief, obviously not realizing what had happened.

"How can this be?"

The monster stumbled back, staring at Tanjiro in amazement, as if he was looking at an alien.

Suddenly, a flash of fury flashed in the monster's eyes. It roared and pounced on Tanjiro with its only remaining left hand.

Tanjiro's eyes shone, and he quickly retreated. The monster's attack just barely brushed past the edge of his clothes, creating a gust of wind.

In the blink of an eye, a strange set of moves suddenly emerged in Tanjiro's mind. He held the hatchet tightly, spread his feet slightly, and took a strange posture.

"Konoha Style Sword Technique: Gale Slash!"

His figure blurred in an instant, as if he had turned into a whirlwind. The hatchet drew a silver arc in the air, so fast that the trajectory was almost invisible.

"laugh!"

With a slight sound, the monster's movements came to an abrupt halt. Its head slowly slid down.

"How is this possible!" the monster's head let out a final cry of surprise.

"Go to hell!" Tanjiro roared, his voice filled with pain and hatred.

He swung the knife again, and with a flash of light, the monster's head was instantly split in half. Blood splattered, staining the surrounding snow red.

Tanjiro turned around and his eyes fell on Grandpa Saburo who was not far away. He walked over quickly and knelt beside the old man.

Grandpa Saburo was lying in a pool of blood, his face pale and he was no longer breathing. Tanjiro reached out and gently closed the old man's eyes, a wave of deep guilt and grief surged in his heart.

"I'm sorry, Grandpa Sanlang." He whispered, his voice choked with sobs.

After a moment, Tanjiro stood up and turned his gaze towards the backyard. He took a deep breath and forced himself to take a step.

When he arrived at the backyard, Tanjiro saw Nezuko lying on the ground, her body covered with bruises and her breathing weakly.

Tanjiro knelt beside his sister and carefully picked her up. "Nezuko!"

Nezuko slowly opened her eyes, barely focusing her gaze on her brother's face, and uttered two words with difficulty:
"Live"
