Chapter 36 Tony Rekindles Hope
Chapter 36 Tony Rekindles Hope
After getting the donuts, Tony flew to the roof of the bakery and sat down, enjoying the few quiet moments.
However, just as he finished eating two donuts, a one-eyed boiled egg wearing a black leather windbreaker appeared in his field of vision.
In an instant, Tony felt that the sweets in his hand suddenly became less delicious.
Because this man's name is Nick Fury, the head agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and because he once broke into Tony's house without permission.
"Iron Man, please come down from the roof right now, we need to talk."
Although Fury was making a request, his tone implied an attitude of unquestionability. After he finished speaking, he did not wait for Tony's response, but turned and left.
It was as if Tony had no choice but to go with him.
Tony didn't like Fury's attitude, but he followed him anyway. He was a little concerned about what Fury wanted to talk to him about.
After a few minutes, Tony began to regret why he didn't just fly away.
Because as soon as he and Fury sat down in the restaurant, he was "ambushed" by someone using a sharp needle and injecting some unknown liquid into his body.
What made Tony even more upset was that the person who plotted against him turned out to be Natalie, his new assistant whom he had just hired not long ago!
He trusted Natalie so much before, and even let her wear Iron Man's palm cannon to shoot wine bottles for fun!
You know, even Pepper hasn’t worn it yet!
"You're fired, Natalie!"
Tony said with a dark face.
"I don't work for you in the first place, Mr. Stark."
Natalie didn't care.
"This is Agent Natasha Romanoff," Fury introduced Tony.
"First you sneaked into my house and waited to scare me, and then sent spies to infiltrate my company. What do you want from me? I remember I told you before that I'm not interested in your superhero team."
Tony questioned impatiently.
"You have done too many stupid things in your recent self-destruction. You even gave your Iron Man suit to James Rhodes. Who knows when you will give something to whom next?"
Fury said solemnly.
"Do you know how many top-secret technologies that are ahead of their time are in Stark Industries? Once these things leak out to the outside world, how much impact will they have on the world? It is SHIELD's job to prevent that from happening."
"I didn't give it to Rod, he stole it."
Tony argued stubbornly.
"You said James Rhodes stole your Iron Man suit. Who do you think would believe that nonsense?"
Fury said unhappily, "Anyway, we want to treat you so that you don't continue to engage in irrational behavior with self-destructive tendencies."
"No thanks. Just give me two more boxes of the injection you just gave me...what's it called? I'll be fine."
"Lithium dioxide can only temporarily alleviate the symptoms of palladium poisoning, but it cannot cure you. You still need to find a substitute for palladium."
Tony's eyes flashed with disappointment. "I have tried all combinations of all known elements, and none of them can replace palladium."
"No, I came here just to tell you that you haven't tried them all."
Fury shook his head and thought to himself, "If I save your life this time, Iron Man will be firmly tied to the chariot of S.H.I.E.L.D..."
“I haven’t tried them all?”
Tony frowned, trying to think of anything on the periodic table that he hadn't tried, but when he thought about it, he was pretty sure he had tried them all.
Wait, the periodic table! Suddenly, Tony had an idea. He just needed to find an element outside the periodic table.
A completely new element or combination of elements that has never been discovered by humans.
Is there such a thing in the world? Do we need to create a new element artificially?
Eh, it seems to be true.
Blue blood!
Ever since the Osborne Group announced the bionic man, this mysterious new liquid energy has caused an uproar. Since the bionic man has not yet been officially released and there are no samples available for testing, no one knows the specific composition of blue blood.
But for Tony, who had tried all combinations of elements, he could at least be sure that he had not found any substance similar to blue blood.
In other words, blue blood is indeed not on the periodic table!
As the saying goes, a word of advice can awaken a dreamer. Tony now realized that he had been completely trapped in a misconception.
In Tony's subconscious mind, he has already used up all the elements and has not found a solution to replace palladium, so it is even more impossible for others. Then he becomes self-destructive because he has exhausted all his life's knowledge but still cannot save his own life.
To the extent that he unconsciously ignored the existence of Blue Blood. Of course, this was also related to the fact that Tony himself had never paid much attention to the news about bionic people.
After all, while Harry was exhibiting Chloe at the Stark Expo, Tony had already been letting himself go, racing cars in Morocco.
At this moment, the hope of living rekindled in Tony's eyes.
Seeing his eyes, Fury knew that the time had come, so he prepared to tell Tony the relic left to him by his father Howard.
"Tony, there is a new unknown element..."
Unexpectedly, before he could finish his words, Tony stood up.
"Yes, I know, it's in the Osborne Group!"
"What? No! I was talking about your father—wait!"
Fury's face froze, and he instantly realized that Tony had misunderstood him, and hurriedly called him.
Unfortunately, Tony, whose heart was full of blue blood at this time, had no intention of listening to what Fury had to say. He just put on the helmet without caring about anyone, and with a bang, he shattered the glass and flew into the sky.
He left a message in the distance: "Please go to Pepper Potts for compensation for the glass."
"…What should we do now, sir?"
Natasha asked, looking at Fury who had a dark face.
"Is there any need to ask? Go to Osborne Building!"
"But sir, because of the last incident with the bionic bird, I'm afraid Harry Osborn won't welcome us." Natasha reminded, "According to Coulson's prediction, if Harry finds our people again, it may cause unnecessary conflicts."
"… Let's go to Stark's house and wait for him to come back."
Fury said after a moment of silence.
-
Osborne Building.
"So, that's why you're coming to me for blue blood now, Mr. Stark?"
Harry asked, looking at the dusty Iron Man.
"Yes, I know my request is not very reasonable, but your blue blood may be the only way for me to survive. No matter how much money you ask, I just hope you can sell me some blue blood, even just a drop of sample."
Tony nodded and looked at Harry hopefully. It was hard to imagine that someone as proud as him would have such an expression.
"I know you're anxious, but don't be hasty, Mr. Stark."
Harry waved his hand, signaling Tony to calm down first.
