Chapter 38 Breakup!

Some time later, Iron Man flies away from the roof of Osborn Building.

On a building in the distance, several SHIELD agents in black uniforms saw this scene and immediately reported to Nick Fury.

"Sir, Iron Man has left Osborn Corporation and is now heading towards Stark Tower."

"I see. Is Coulson already waiting in Stark Tower? Okay, let him find a way to delay Tony."

Fury ordered calmly.

"Turn around?"

Beside him, Natasha Romanoff, who was driving towards Stark's address, asked knowingly.

"Yes, now head to Stark Tower as fast as you can."

A few minutes later.

Tony landed at Stark Tower wearing the Iron Man suit.

He originally wanted to go straight back to his laboratory and start working on synthesizing new elements as soon as possible.

But when he saw Pepper had stood on the rooftop early in the morning, looking like she was waiting for someone, and a fat, bald, middle-aged agent standing next to her, Tony suddenly felt a surge of anger in his heart.

When Harry told him that the Stark Expo was actually the structural diagram of some new element, he realized that SHIELD was most likely trying to take his biological father's research results and give it to him as a life-saving medicine. He even wanted to thank SHIELD for saving his life.

Tony searched through all the databases of Stark Industries, but could not find any archival records of Howard's research on new elements.

But if this was really a top-secret project that could not be leaked to the outside world, how could Howard have made an early model of the Stark Expo and built a park openly for everyone in the world to see?

Howard's action was obviously to hope that one day a genius would discover the trick in the exhibition map and complete his unfinished research.

SHIELD has been in contact with Tony for quite some time and could have pointed this matter out to Tony directly at any time, but they always concealed the existence of the new element and Howard's contribution, which obviously went against Howard's original intention.

What does SHIELD mean by doing this?
Tony didn't know and didn't want to know. He only knew that SHIELD's actions were a disguised way of stealing his father's research results!
Even though Tony spent very little time with his parents and didn't have a very deep affection for Howard, it didn't mean he didn't care about his parents' achievements.

"Phil? When did your relationship become so good?"

Tony asked with a frown as he listened to Pepper calling Coulson's name affectionately.

"He helped us with the aftermath of the Obadiah incident last time, and we have been friends ever since."

Pepper didn't understand what was going on. She vaguely sensed hostility in Tony's eyes when he looked at Coulson.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

"Pepper, can you please go back to your office now? I have something important to say to Agent Coulson next."

Tony didn't want Pepper to get involved in the troubles of SHIELD, so he pretended to be calm and asked her to avoid it. "No! You are dying now! Why didn't I know about such a serious thing until now? Do you know how worried I have been about you during this period? I just want to save your life and help you, but now you still don't want to let me know anything!"

Pepper suddenly burst into emotion. She was the person who knew Tony best in the world. Just by looking at his eyes, she knew that something big must have happened.

"Well, if you want to listen, then let your good friend Mr. Phil Coulson explain first how SHIELD took the new element that my father spent all his efforts to research for themselves? Now you want to use it to encourage me to join SHIELD, because this new element can just save my life!"

Tony looked at Coulson with a cold face.

"What did you say?"

Pepper was stunned when she heard this, and looked at Coulson in disbelief, "Is what Tony said true, Coulson?"

"This... there must be a misunderstanding here. How could SHIELD steal Dr. Howard's research results?"

Facing Iron Man's angry glare, Coulson smiled bitterly.

He was very surprised why Tony knew that the new element was discovered by Howard. It should be the only SHIELD who knew about this.

"Mr. Stark, I don't know where you heard this, but I guarantee it must be a rumor."

"So you do know about the new element my father was researching?"

Tony asked, expressionless.

"Yes, we know, but that's all we know. SHIELD doesn't have any technical information on synthesizing new elements, so how could they possibly steal Howard's research results?"

At this time, Fury and Natasha suddenly came to the rooftop and responded to Tony's questions calmly.

Tony noticed that Fury was carrying a suitcase he had never seen before. The style and material were very old, as if it was a product of the last century.

"Perhaps you heard some bad things about SHIELD in the Osborn Group. Since we had some unpleasant frictions in the past, it is not surprising that Osborn accused SHIELD of stealing your father's research data."

Fury said calmly, holding up the suitcase and flashing it at Tony.

"You just have to look at this to understand everything."

Tony took it doubtfully and found some yellowed letters and a videotape with unknown content inside.

He picked up the videotape, and a slot in the armor on his arm automatically opened. Tony stuffed it in without saying a word.

The Iron Man suit has more than just combat capabilities. Tony has also integrated a lot of daily entertainment functions into it, and reading discs is just the most basic one.

Then, Tony put on the steel helmet and started watching the videotape.

Not long after, Tony finished watching the last and only video recording Howard left for him.

"… Nick Fury, you're right, after watching this I figured everything out."

He raised his palm cannon and aimed it at Fury.

"SHIELD didn't steal my father's technology, they stole the only relic my father left me! It should have been handed over to me twenty years ago, otherwise I wouldn't have misunderstood my parents for so many years!"
