Chapter 74: Substituting Beams for Pillars

Chapter 74: Substituting one thing for another (Fourth update)

"I didn't have a choice before, now I just want to be myself!"

On the rooftop, Bucky glared at Pierce with anger in his eyes.

"Go to hell, Alexander Pierce!"

Bucky pushed Pierce out of the rooftop and gently loosened his grip.

A sense of weightlessness instantly enveloped Pierce's entire body...
-
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!"

In the dark secret room, Pierce woke up from his memories with a scream, his body already soaked with cold sweat.

He kept breathing heavily and touching his face and body with his trembling hands.

"I...I'm not dead..."

It took Pierce a long time to regain some composure from the memory of falling from the building. He looked at his hands, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards.

A feeling of joy at surviving a disaster surged into Pierce's heart, so much so that he completely ignored his surroundings and the two pairs of eyes staring at him not far away.

"Alexander Pierce, you have tried to kill me several times. I thought you were very brave, but I didn't expect you to be a coward."

Without any warning, a voice full of mockery came into Pierce's ears.

Pierce, who was completely immersed in escaping death, suddenly heard an unfamiliar voice and was so frightened that he trembled all over.

"Who! Who's there?"

Pierce turned sharply and questioned.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Pierce. You should know who I am."

Harry stepped out from the shadows, Bucky standing beside him.

"Harry Osborn."

After seeing the person's face clearly, Pierce said hatefully.

"I didn't expect you to cure the Winter Soldier's brainwashing in such a short time, and I didn't expect my people to fail to find out that he was not brainwashed."

"This only shows that your men are useless."

Harry said calmly.

"Although the leader's abilities aren't that great either."

"Why didn't you kill me?"

Pierce asked, this question was addressed to both Harry and Bucky beside him.

"All the crimes you have committed are simply disgusting. It would be too easy for you to die."

Bucky said coldly.

"My reason is much simpler. I want to know how much information you have about Hydra and SHIELD. Tell me all the secrets you know, and I won't kill you."

Harry suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "Oh, by the way, I especially want to know the information about the Cosmic Cube and the Serpent's Crown. If you cooperate, I will be very grateful to you."

"How do you know about the Serpent's Crown?"

When Pierce heard Harry say those two words, he screamed as if he had seen a ghost.

Pierce's reaction shows at least two things. First, the snake crown really exists in this universe. Second, Pierce knows some information about the snake crown.

The Serpent Crown is a container of the power of Set, the evil god who was born four billion years ago. Set can grant power to mortals through the Serpent Crown. The strength of the power depends on the firmness of one's faith and the price paid.

Set appears to mortals in the form of a snake. It is said that his body is as large as the entire multiverse. The ultimate goal of the Hydra to bring back the gods is actually Set. Although the number of Hydra who know the name of Set may not be enough on one hand, the serpent crown is widely circulated among the high-ranking members of the Hydra. Many serpent heads regard it as an omnipotent artifact and spare no effort to find the whereabouts of the serpent crown around the world.

But those who knew about the existence of the Serpent's Crown were all core members of Hydra. Could it be that Harry was also a Hydra leader? This was impossible!

"Incredible! Why? Why on earth do you know about the Serpent Crown?"

Pierce muttered to himself with a look of doubt on his face.

"How should I know this? This is not your concern. Whether or not to confess is what you should consider."

Harry smiled slightly.

"Hahaha, really? Then let me tell you something you should consider!"

Pierce suddenly laughed and said sinisterly, "You seem to have misjudged the importance of my identity. In addition to being the leader of Hydra, I am also the deputy director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the spokesperson for the World Security Council. If I disappear for too long, they will know that I am imprisoned. Guess how long you can hide me?"

"You don't think that because you captured an insignificant field agent and S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't pose any threat to you, you have figured out the true strength of S.H.I.E.L.D., do you?"

"I don't deny that SHIELD has the potential to destroy the world, but what will happen if I expose your identity as Hydra?"

Harry asked back.

"Do you have evidence?" Pierce said confidently, "I can also say that you are the Hydra."

"I have worked in S.H.I.E.L.D. for decades. I trained Nick Fury as my apprentice. I am also the agent who has worked diligently and never slacked off in front of the World Security Council for decades. You accuse me of being Hydra. Do you think they will believe you or me?"

"Um……"

Harry pondered for a moment and nodded, "That makes sense, I thought so too."

“So I prepared this ahead of time.”

Harry clapped his hands twice, and a figure suddenly walked out of the darkness.

"This is--"

The moment he saw this figure, Pierce's face suddenly changed.

Because this figure was actually himself!

"How is it? Even if I look at it myself, I can't tell the difference."

Harry stood between the two Piers and smiled.

"Since you are so important and powerful, I guess no one would arrest you every now and then and cut open your skin to see what's inside, right?"

"You can't let a android pretend to be me for long. The SHIELD agents will easily find his flaws."

Pierce managed to say.

"Yes, SHIELD will easily notice the difference between your behavior and speech between the android substitute and you, because the principle of SHIELD agents is to prioritize suspicion. But Hydra is different. You prioritize obedience."

Harry smiled like a fox and said, "Hydra will obey their superiors unconditionally, so I just need to let Bucky take your android double back to Hydra in SHIELD, and they will never question their supreme leader."

Every time Harry said a word, Pierce's heart skipped a beat.

"Even if a few smart people can see that something is wrong, it won't affect the overall situation. Think about it, if I let your double give orders to Hydra, even to launch a violent attack on SHIELD, is it possible that they will not obey? And by then, will it matter whether the double is discovered or not?"

"Finally, what will be the outcome of the insight project that you have devoted your entire life to?"

When Harry finished his last sentence, Pierce's face turned pale.

"No! Whatever you want to know, I'll tell you everything!"
