However, in the context I set, I really can’t imagine why a person without initial capital would have the desire to struggle in such a rigid environment.

This is a world where you put in all your efforts but may not get any reward.

I can't think of any reason for the protagonist to struggle, even if he is a time traveler.

If the author can't come up with a reason, how can he convince the readers?
