Chapter 366 The Betrayer: Draco Malfoy?
Chapter 366 The Betrayer: Draco Malfoy?
Just as Harry was subconsciously wondering about some kind of interaction between Percy and Ryan, he did not notice that Dumbledore on the teacher's desk had disappeared.
This is a winding river. Many years ago, it was crystal clear and fed the life around it.
But with industrialization and the establishment of factories, everything changed.
The banks became overgrown with weeds and piles of garbage.
Not far away, a huge chimney stood tall and eerie. It was a relic of an abandoned mill. It stood tall, eerie and ominous.
There was no sound but the blackened whimpering of the river, and no sign of life except for a lean fox that stole down the bank and sniffed hopefully at a few fish and chip wrappers in the deep weeds.
At this moment, with a soft "plop" sound, a slender figure wearing a hood appeared out of thin air by the river.
The fox was stunned, staring at the strange figure that had just appeared with alert eyes.
The figure seemed to be getting its bearings, and after a moment it took long, brisk steps forward, its long cloak rustling through the grass.
The fox was now almost lying in the low bushes, waiting until the figure walked away.
Then it swooshed out of its hiding place and ran toward the shore. There was a flash of blue light, a scream, and the fox fell to the ground as if dead.
The figure just now suddenly appeared from where he had just appeared.
"It turned out to be a fox. I thought--" Dumbledore sighed.
Not long ago, Severus's identity as a spy was exposed by Voldemort.
This was also the reason why he came here this time. He thought it was a Death Eater sent by Voldemort.
It all started with Harry's new dream.
In Harry's dream, Voldemort seemed to have changed his goal because of the construction of a new prison, the "Cage".
Fortunately, the victim turned out to be another Death Eater - Walton McNeill, who had just taken a long vacation.
The Carlo brothers and sisters also rejoined him.
Most importantly, there was a spy in Hogwarts.
In this case, he was still willing to join Voldemort's spy.
And Voldemort now seems to have changed his approach, he no longer hides his existence.
He began to summon some of the Death Eaters who were still willing to return to him through the Dark Mark.
Severus was one of them. He wanted to know who the spy in Hogwarts was and what message he passed to Voldemort.
However, somehow, Voldemort knew of Severus's betrayal.
The tactics that Severus had been practicing for so many years to wait for Voldemort to resurrect and return to his service seemed to be of no use to Voldemort now.
Fortunately, perhaps because Voldemort was not in his prime, Severus was able to escape.
Being surrounded and blocked, he had no choice but to return to the house in Spider's Tail Alley.
I climbed up the river bank, walked through the rusty railings, and headed towards the rows of dilapidated brick houses.
He quickly passed through an alley between houses and turned into another street that was almost identical.
Several street lamps were broken, and his figure was sometimes illuminated by the light and sometimes shrouded in darkness.
And so he went deeper into the maze of abandoned brick houses.
Finally, Dumbledore walked quickly up a street called Spinner's End, where the tall mill chimney rose into the sky like a giant finger raised in warning.
He walked past the old, boarded-up windows, his footsteps echoing on the cobblestones, until he came to the last house, where a dim light shone through the curtains in a downstairs room.
Smelling the smell of the sewage river blown by the evening breeze.
After a few seconds, there was a movement behind the door, and then the door opened a crack, and a man looked at them, with long black hair draped on both sides like a curtain, in the middle was a grayish-yellow face and a pair of black eyes.
"There you are, Dumbledore." The man opened the door, his wand still tightly clasped in his hand.
"Severus, great, you seem to be okay." Dumbledore looked up and down at the man in front of him. He was still wearing his black wizard robe, spotless.
Even if you look at it from a magical perspective, you can sense that his quiet and deep magic is still like a dead quagmire.
It seemed that the man in front of him had just woken up and showed no sign of escaping from Voldemort and his Death Eaters.
Snape naturally noticed the doubt in Dumbledore's eyes, "He wants to make peace."
"Seeking peace, is it Voldemort?" Dumbledore suspected that his ears were broken.
"Yes, the little boy that Voldemort spoke of in Harry's dream seemed to be very clear that I was a spy."
"Voldemort chose to let me go - as long as I can escape the pursuit of his new faces." Snape said as he stepped aside and motioned Dumbledore to enter.
Snape clicked the door shut as Dumbledore entered.
What Dumbledore saw was a small living room, which felt like a dim, soft-walled cell.
Books lined the walls, most of them in old black or brown leather covers; a worn, fuzzy sofa, an old armchair, and a rickety table were crowded together in a dim circle of light cast by a candlelight hanging from the ceiling.
This place has a desolate and deserted atmosphere, as if no one lives there usually.
Snape motioned for Dumbledore to sit on the sofa.
Dumbledore took off his cloak and threw it aside, then sat down.
"Would you like something to drink?" Snape asked calmly.
"No need, but before I ask you about Voldemort, I would like to ask you why you went to Voldemort - without my permission." Dumbledore's eyes burned with anger.
"You know why I live."
"Harry Potter's life is more important than anything else."
"There is a venomous snake in Hogwarts, and that venomous snake may be someone Harry is familiar with, or even his friend." Snape's low voice sounded in the room.
"You doubt Draco?" exclaimed Dumbledore.
"Yes, Harry Potter is his friend, but so is Crabbe and Goyle, and Pansy is his fiancée."
"Voldemort is a devil who is good at playing with people's hearts."
"I doubt that Draco Malfoy would betray someone less important to him for someone important to him, like Peter Pettigrew did."
"Peter is from Gryffindor, which represents courage."
"And Draco Malfoy is a Slytherin, a typical Slytherin." Snape said firmly.
"That kid has a pure soul."
"I believe him," Dumbledore replied.
"No, I don't believe it." Snape frowned.
The two of them were in a stalemate at this moment.
