Chapter 60: Cultivating an Internationalist Fighter

Chapter 60: Cultivating an Internationalist Fighter

A Mao was a cheerful American boy who was originally attending college in the United States. One day, he accidentally found a book "Red Star Over China" in the school library.

This book, also known as "Red Star Over China", is a non-fiction literature written by American journalist Edgar Snow. It was first published in London, England in 1937. It records what Edgar Snow saw and heard in the Northwest China base area during the four months in 1936, and truthfully reports the various situations of our party and army.

Once published, it caused a huge response in the Western world.

This book broke the Western news blockade and allowed many Westerners to see that in the barren northwest of China, there was a group of people with a strong sense of mission who were fighting unyieldingly for this ancient and declining country. It also changed, to a certain extent, the prejudice of international public opinion towards the country at that time.

After reading Red Star Over China, A Mao was deeply moved by the country and people described in the book, so he decided to study in China. He is now a freshman in the History Department of Yan University.

While waiting to find the book, Lin Chaoyang chatted with A Mao for a while and had almost got all the information about him.

It wasn't that Lin Chaoyang was trying to trick people, but A Mao's words were a bit confusing, so he just explained the situation himself.

"Amao!"

While the two were talking, someone called out to Ah Mao from a distance, "Why are you here?"

The man who came was a tall and thin young man. When they saw Lin Chaoyang, they were both stunned.

It turned out that he was also a student in the History Department, named Liu Huimin. After the Chinese New Year, several students went to the Tao family in a group to celebrate the New Year.

Knowing that Lin Chaoyang was Professor Tao's son-in-law, Liu Huimin greeted him with extra politeness.

Shaoyuan is a gathering place for international students of Yanda University. According to Yanda students, it is colorful and like a small "United Nations". Liu Huimin and Amao now live in the same dormitory in Shaoyuan.

The moment Liu Huimin saw Jin Ping Mei, he screamed, "Amao, how can you read this book?"

Ah Mao was frightened by him, and asked in a strange tone, "What's wrong with this book?"

Liu Huimin didn't know how to explain it to Amao. Lin Chaoyang smiled and said, "This is an ancient Chinese novel. The language pattern is somewhat different from modern Chinese. You can't even speak Mandarin clearly now. It's too early for you to read this book."

He helped Liu Huimin out of the dilemma, and Liu Huimin nodded quickly, "Yes, yes, this book is all in classical Chinese. You can't understand it at all. It's just a waste of time. How do you know this book?"

"I met an old professor while running. I asked him how to learn Chinese quickly. He was very enthusiastic and recommended this book to me."

Lin Chaoyang's mind flashed back to the scene of seeing A Mao and Zhu Guangqian running together early in the morning. If nothing unexpected happened, A Mao must have been fooled by the old man.

"This old man is so evil!"

Lin Chaoyang muttered, then winked at Liu Huimin, "Lend him a book."

Liu Huimin instantly understood Lin Chaoyang's thoughts, thinking that the old professor was not kind, and you are not a good person either!
He couldn't help feeling funny when he thought about how A Mao, the curly-haired foreigner, kept talking about "peasant issues" and "overthrowing local tyrants and gentry".

"Amao, do you want to see the works of our great leader?"

Seeing that Liu Huimin didn't respond, Lin Chaoyang asked.

Ah Mao's eyes lit up. "Is it Mao's work? I've seen Red Star Over China. I like him!"

"Then you should really read his works, they are full of wise sayings."

Liu Huimin looked at Lin Chaoyang helplessly. He hasn’t even learned all the characters yet, and you’re going to recommend someone to him?
After borrowing the books, Lin Chaoyang saw Liu Huimin and Amao off. Looking at Amao's back, he felt very relieved.

He urged A Mao to borrow books not as a prank. This kind of reading material is also suitable for a Chinese beginner like A Mao, and most of the content is easy to understand.

A few days later, it was the weekend, and Zhu Guangqian came to Tao's house in the morning.

Tao's father was folding paper airplanes for Tao Xiwen, and thought he was here to play chess with him, so he said, "Wait for me."

"Not looking for you. Where's your Xiaolin?"

Father Tao was slightly surprised. "He? Is he in the house?"

Lin Chaoyang was called out of the house for no apparent reason.

"Come on, play some chess with me." Zhu Guangqian called out. Lin Chaoyang smiled and said, "Uncle Zhu, you should play with my dad."

Zhu Guangqian waved his hand, "His level is not good enough."

Father Tao was already accustomed to his old friend's sharp tongue; he shook his head and did not argue.

Seeing that Mr. Tao didn't express his opinion, Lin Chaoyang said, "Okay, I'll play two games with you."

"Two plates? How can two plates be enough? Ten plates at least!"

Lin Chaoyang was surprised. Could it be that this old man had taken Liuwei Dihuang Pills?

It was not until Zhu Guangqian had set up the chessboard that he realized that he was going to play Gobang.

"I've already told you that you can't beat me at Gobang."

There is no father and son in the chess field. Why is Miyamoto Musashi called the Sword Saint by the Japanese? The key is that you have to win. Don't use any tricks, just win.

The best way to play chess is to attack the old man's mind. It doesn't matter if he loses once, but if he loses too many times, his words will become a demon in the old man's heart.

If you play chess with him again, I guarantee you will feel anxious and short of breath.

"Sigh~"

"Eh!"

"It shouldn't be!"

After a while, the sound of Comrade Lao Zhu sighing came from the Tao family's room.

While Zhu Guangqian was looking worried, Lin Chaoyang still had the mind to take a sip of tea.

He is only an amateur at playing Go, but he is a professional at Gobang. He is good at all kinds of tricks, such as the oblique three-formation, plum blossom formation, four-corner formation, sword formation... and he can easily beat players like Lao Zhu who play for fun on a whim.

In less than half an hour, ten games of chess were finished.

The record is 10:0.

Lin Chaoyang stood up and was about to leave when he was grabbed by Lao Zhu.

"Don't leave!"

"What are you doing?"

"Play a few more games with me."

"Still playing? You are no match for me."

Lin Chaoyang was not afraid of anything else but beating the old man too hard and having him sent to the hospital.

He finally realized that this old man's chess skills were too mediocre. How could he not let others leave after losing?

"Okay, stop dragging him. Let me play a game with you."

When the two were in a stalemate, Tao's father appeared and rescued Lin Chaoyang.

Even though someone was playing chess with him, Zhu Guangqian still couldn't help muttering to himself.

"This kid must have memorized the chess manual."

"You're done, you still have to memorize the chess manual to play Go?" Tao's father couldn't help but complain.
