Chapter 159: Catch Two Little Cuties (asking for monthly tickets)
Pure rabbit jerky, cold-baked at low temperature, with original flavor. Except that it may be a little tough on the teeth, everyone who has eaten it says it is good.

When we found the manul, it was eating a pika in small bites.

In fact, for it, eating too much is already a lavish sight, but after getting used to seeing the big cats at home eating in such a bold way, the caracal seems to be so delicate.

The caracal looked at him calmly, lowered his head and continued to show off.

After three minutes, he suddenly looked up and stared at Chen Ying with an expression of disbelief.

Chen Ying also frowned. Did this caracal have a brain injury? Why did it seem so much slower in reaction?

Or is it because the weather is too cold and its brain is frozen?

With this reaction speed, will it really not be taken away by natural enemies?
After looking at the caracal for a while with a pitying look, and leaving behind half a bag of dried rabbit meat, Chen Ying felt that he had to rely on himself.

After walking down for a while with difficulty, we arrived at the river beach.

The plateau river beach is actually a very shallow stream formed by melted ice and snow.

It's freezing cold now and there is no water. The rocky beach is covered with a thin layer of ice, the kind that you can make a hole in if you poke it with your finger.

Even though the ice is not thick, it is easy to slip when walking on it.

Chen Ying walked forward carefully on the grass roots. It took him quite some time to cross the riverbank and reach the other side.

There are obviously more small animals here than in the mountains. In addition to pikas, we also saw two weasels foraging for food.

The yellow weasel is one of the magical creatures in the north and is respectfully called Wong Tai Sin.

But in the south, they are collectively called weasels!

His status in the world can be seen at a glance.

In addition to the weasels, he also found a nest of snow quail in the bush area.

Snow quail are not as brightly coloured as other pheasants. They gather in the bushes beside the riverbed, pecking at plant seeds and mosses covered by a thin layer of snow.

These little guys are not afraid of people, and as long as you don't deliberately disturb them, you can take close photos with them.

Carefully bypassing these little treasures, Chen Ying continued to explore below the bush area.

Below the bush area and between the river beach, there is a large, narrow meadow area, which is also suitable for the survival of caracals.

The territory of a male manul can cover the territories of up to five female manuls. Since female manuls have to raise their children, their territory will not be too large, but they do need sufficient food sources.

This river beach area is perfect for raising cubs.

Sure enough, after walking about fifty meters, we found a cave with fresh traces under the rock layer at the junction of the bush area and the meadow area.

Chen Ying carefully took out a soft-light flashlight and shone it inside. Two pairs of small eyes looked at him in horror.

Chen Ying retreated quickly, and after a distance, he found a stone to hide behind.

After a while, as if they could no longer sense Chen Ying's breath, the two caracals crawled out from the cave in the crevice of the rock one after another.

The cub has already shed its fur and is at least four to six months old.

Their mother was not around, probably out hunting.

Generally speaking, when a caracal mother is raising her cubs, her hunting ground will be as close to the cave as possible, so that she can immediately go back to protect her children if there is any disturbance.

The fact that the mother was able to leave for a short period of time also shows that the two little caracals have enough strength to protect themselves, or know how to avoid natural enemies.

Chen Ying took out his cell phone and recorded the coordinates of this place.

He had just observed along the way and found no infrared cameras around. He estimated that no one had ever found the caracal or other valuable protected animals here before.

After taking enough photos, Chen Ying walked down carefully from the other side of the river beach.

A little further down, you'll enter the alpine fir forest area.

This time, he was keenly aware of the scrutiny. When he looked up, he saw a one-eyed leopard lying on a tree, silently staring at him.

Not knowing what the leopard's personality was like, Chen Ying didn't dare to say anything and just looked at the leopard silently.

After more than ten minutes, the leopard slid down the tree, swung its tail, and lay down on a rock under the tree. "You have a familiar smell, but I'm sure I've never seen you before."

The old leopard's voice was low and hoarse, and it was a female leopard.

Chen Ying didn't know what to say. The smell on his body was very mixed. Shouldn't the strongest smell be from the little monkey and Jin Ya?

Those two rubbed against him every day, and even if they changed their clothes, they had already been marinated by them.

The old leopard was just curious and didn't think about finding out who the smell came from.

It doesn't have much life left, so it should just spend its last days quietly.

Born in the wild, raised in the wild, and died in the wild.

This is the consequence that every free wild animal has to face.

"I was born here and traveled a lot when I was young, and now I plan to come back to spend some time here for the last time."

The old leopard speaks very slowly, like a kind old lady at home, nagging casually. It doesn't care whether you are happy to listen or not.

Chen Ying looked at the old leopard carefully. Its skin was loose, its fur had lost its luster, one of its teeth that was exposed when it yawned had fallen out, and the rest was badly worn.

The old leopard chatted with Chen Ying for quite a while and felt a little hungry, so he decided to go find something to eat.

Chen Ying wanted to say that he could help, but then he thought that the old leopard might not need his "kindness".

After Old Leopard left, Chen Ying sat with his head down for a long time, and finally picked up his phone to call Xia Sen.

"Sister Leopard? It's sleeping in the tree. Are you looking for it?"

When Xia Sen received the call, he was feeding bamboo shoots to the cub.

I looked up at the two cubs in the tree, wondering if I could get Sister Leopard to move.

"Put your phone under the tree and put it on speakerphone. I'll talk to Sister Leopard."

Xia Sen looked at his phone with a complicated expression. His brother Ying was now not hiding anything at all.

I did as Chen Ying said, and saw Brother Leopard and Sister Leopard, who were sleeping on the tree, opened their eyes at the same time, then jumped down the tree, moved close to the phone and sniffed it hard.

"Ho, you're trapped in here? Do you want my help?"

Seeing that Sister Bao was about to strike, Xia Sen was terrified and stepped forward, "Sister Bao, hold on!"

Brother Leopard turned around and roared at him.

Xia Sen stepped back with a bitter face, looking at the old phone he had used for three years with reluctance.

"Sister Leopard, no need. Can you still smell me? Come to me. I need your help with something."

Brother Leopard and Sister Leopard looked at each other and ran towards the northeast without saying a word.

Jin Ya and Xiao Jin came out of the cat's nest, and before they had time to ask what happened, they saw Sister Leopard and Brother Leopard running away, and they chased after them without thinking.

Xiao Jin hesitated for a moment, then followed decisively.

"No, this..." Xia Sen looked at the four of them blankly as they disappeared in an instant, without being able to finish his words.

Dabai and Jiaojiao were also alarmed. The couple left their little cub behind and chased after him, one in front and one behind, with their fat bodies full.

When Leo saw his parents running away, he wanted to follow them, but Xia Sen quickly stopped him.

"Little ancestor, please don't go. How old are you? What are you going to do? Deliver food?"

Leo was very angry. He turned around and yelled at Xia Sen, and even bit his arm.

Fortunately, the little guy didn't bite him hard, and Xia Sen wore thick clothes in winter, so in order to prevent water and scratches, he also wore a sturdy work suit, otherwise his down jacket would probably be full of flying down.

I will post photos of riverside meadows on the snow-capped mountains later. Some friends are curious about how there are meadows and shrubs on the snow-capped mountains. In fact, this kind of landform is common in western Sichuan. There are almost only peaks above 5,000 meters above sea level, which looks more in line with the lonely snow-capped mountains in everyone's impression.
