Chapter 136: Shooting the first bird

Looking at the man on the stage, and with people holding onto him in several passageways around him, Yun Ran sighed inwardly.

She thought the pirates hadn't yet infiltrated their ranks, but to her surprise, they had an inside agent who had even infiltrated the kitchen.

It seems we need to improve the paper dolls properly next time; just being able to detect evil spirits and catch bad people isn't enough.

They need to be able to distinguish bad people; otherwise, when bad people are working honestly, the little paper figures will easily overlook them.

Everyone else who got called out was terrified, but Yun Ran still had the mind to fill in the gaps. She's a genius.

The policeman crouching in the crowd and the blind Taoist priest in the corner were extremely anxious as they watched this scene.

But upon hearing that Yun Ran had been called out, the group of people who had been contemplating whether to reveal their identities immediately suppressed their eagerness.

The first round of the list included twenty people, both men and women, who were now asked to stand on the stage in a row.

Xia Jing's legs felt weak, and she only managed to avoid falling because she leaned on Yun Ran.

Soon after, someone brought over a simple table with two guns on it.

"Let's play a game, Russian Roulette. You've heard of it? If you don't want to play, you're out early."

Some people were so scared they wet themselves, but they didn't dare say they didn't want to play, for fear that this madman might actually shoot them.

“We have money, you can have as much money as you want, my dad has a lot of money!”

"Yes, whatever price you want, I'll give you."

"I can give you anything..."

The people squatting below felt no relief at all; they even felt their great-grandmothers waving to them.

The police officers exchanged glances. They hadn't expected the situation to be so serious, and their expressions became extremely grave.

The game on stage continued, and in front of everyone in the hall, it was nothing short of blatant mental abuse for them.

The man looked at the people on the platform; these were the first people the employer had ordered to be eliminated. He could have just killed them outright.

But he is a man of ambition and doesn't like things to be done so simply and crudely. Even if he has to eliminate certain people, it has to be done with a sense of ceremony.

She glanced at the people standing in a row. Everyone else looked like the sky had fallen, but Yun Ran seemed relaxed, as if she had just come over for a stroll and would soon be going back.

It immediately stood out.

"Miss Yunran, you can go first."

The saying goes, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down," and at this moment, that saying is absolutely true.

Yun Ran stepped forward, looked at the two guns on the table, picked one up casually, and then put it down again: "I don't know how to play. Can you teach me?"

Everyone:...

No way, at such a tense moment, you're still acting silly? Are you really not afraid of dying?!
Someone in the shadows saw Yun Ran being sent to the guillotine, and their heart was in their throat.

The master said that they must protect the young lady's safety, and that even if their original mission fails, they must do everything in their power to get her out safely.

The man on the stage glanced coldly at Yun Ran. This person, who was given special attention by the employer and was temporarily put on the list, was indeed somewhat different.

Everyone else was terrified, but she wasn't afraid at all, and even had the mood to let him teach her. It was really interesting.

"Then I'll teach you!"

As he spoke, the man grabbed another gun, his hand moving so fast it was almost a blur. When he stopped, the gun was already pointed at Yun Ran.

"You think you can escape this calamity by being different? No, this will only make you die faster!" The little paper figure was about to rush out and give this damned man a good beating, letting him taste the consequences of his arrogance.

Just then, a feather suddenly pierced the man's forehead. His eyes widened, filled with disbelief, and were forever frozen in that moment.

With a loud thud, the man's body crashed to the ground, and no one saw how he died.

Yun Ran's gaze suddenly turned to the second floor, which was exactly where the person who had just made the move was standing.

At the same moment, the man's companions were all killed by that inconspicuous feather.

The crowd below didn't care who had grabbed them; their survival instincts made them run for their lives. It would be foolish not to run now.

The venue immediately became noisy again.

Yunran glanced at the man lying on the ground. Xia Jing rushed over, grabbed her, and ran. If they didn't run now, when would they?

The moment the owner of the feather made his move, he shattered the entire balance, forcing several hidden forces to react passively.

Xia Jing pulled Yun Ran into the nearest room. Now, she trusted no one but Yun Ran.

Even if there were familiar people behind her, she ruthlessly slammed the door shut.

Various chaotic sounds came from outside—shouting, banging on the door—but Xia Jing ignored them all.

Despite her trembling hands, she didn't stop, gesturing for Yunran to help her push the movable cabinet next to her to block the doorway.

After doing all this, Xia Jing leaned against the wall, feeling exhausted. Her previously exquisite makeup and hair were now completely ruined.

Only when her mind was temporarily relaxed did she have time to think about what had just happened. Even though she had applied blush, it couldn't make her pale complexion look normal.

"Ranran, do you know something?!"

Yunran made a hand seal and struck the door, then could no longer hold back and spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Ranran, what's wrong!"

"Bang bang bang..."

The repeated banging on the door made Xia Jing tremble. She turned her head to look at the door, her eyes fixed on it.

"Don't worry, they can't get in!"

After saying that, Yunran sat cross-legged and began to meditate to heal her injuries.

The previous backlash wasn't fatal, but it certainly made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Then came several gunshots, but the door to the room only made a series of banging sounds, without any damage whatsoever.

This shocked Xia Jing. When she turned to look at Yun Ran, she saw Yun Ran meditating and a piece of information that she had previously overlooked flashed through her mind.

She had read Yun Ran's information; she was the Yun family's burden, had an eccentric personality, and was fond of feudal superstitions.

Yunran said she would die, and gave her the beaded string. Also, Yunran was fine just now, but after making a few gestures, she started vomiting blood. And the door was completely unharmed...

Something was about to emerge in Xia Jing's mind.

Afraid of exclaiming and disturbing Yunran, Xia Jing quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

But his eyes became unusually bright, as if he were looking at something amazing.

Her fingers unconsciously caressed the beaded necklace she was wearing.
