Chapter 42: Since we're already here, we'll meet again eventually.

After the plane landed in Moscow, Ye Xueyan quietly sent Ji Xuan a WeChat message, telling her that she was in Moscow and asked her to meet up for a meal sometime.

It's been ten months since they last saw each other.

Ye Xueyan knew that the translator for this collaboration was Ji Xuan, but she guessed that he would be busy with work and might not be able to find extra time for it.

Today wasn't a formal meeting; the Russian side hosted a welcome banquet tonight, so I had some free time at noon.

After checking into the hotel, it was only around 5 a.m. Moscow time.

Ye Xueyan rested for a little over two hours, but Ji Xuan still hadn't replied to her message by around 7:30 in the morning.

Ye Xueyan knocked on Wen Qi's door with a prepared breakfast and a tablet, confirmed the itinerary for the next few days, and told him the location of the dinner party that evening and the departure time.

The Russian company also showed great sincerity by providing them with three vehicles as standard for their convenience.

"Mr. Wen, would you like to have lunch in your hotel room or at the restaurant?"

After finishing their business, Ye Xueyan asked one more question.

"Room."

Wen Qi lowered his head and continued eating his breakfast, replying casually.

Ye Xueyan: "What would you like to eat? I've already made a reservation with the hotel restaurant."

Wen Qi still didn't look up. "You handle it."

"Yes." Ye Xueyan hesitated for two seconds, then said, "President Wen, if I don't have anything to do at noon, I would like to ask for leave to go out for a while."

Wen Qi paused, as if he had understood something, his hand holding the knife and fork tightened slightly, and he slowly looked up at her.

Ye Xueyan felt a little uneasy under his cold and deep gaze, but she composed herself and said, "I made an appointment to meet a friend at noon, and I'm thinking I'll be busy later and might not be able to find the time..."

"Well, you go."

Wen Qi withdrew his gaze, interrupting her explanation with cold words, a dark glint flashing in his deep eyes.

Ye Xueyan breathed a slight sigh of relief, thankfully she wasn't made to explain herself seriously.

Otherwise, she wouldn't know what to say.

The relationship between Wen Qi and Ji Xuan is actually quite awkward.

If you think about it, Secretary Ji has been gone for over a year, and the two of them have been broken up for over a year, so it's obviously inappropriate to bring it up again.

Ji Xuan replied to her message around eight o'clock. She had just gotten up and finished washing up when she replied, and then went to make breakfast herself.

Because of the short working hours, the company's lunch break is only one hour, from 12:00 to 1:00.

However, Cheng Kong didn't keep the schedule too tight, because most people in the company need to go on field trips, and it's common for translators to go out for several days without returning to the company.

Around 11 o'clock, Ji Xuan drove to the hotel that Ye Xueyan had mentioned.

When she arrived, Ye Xueyan was already waiting for her in the hotel lobby.

Ji Xuan got out of the car and walked in, and saw Ye Xueyan looking over. The next second, Ye Xueyan stood up excitedly, obviously losing her usual composure and calmness in front of Wen Qi.

He ran towards her with great joy, "Ah, Secretary Ji... Ah Xian, it's been so long, I've missed you so much."

She changed her tune quite smoothly.

It doesn't feel out of place at all.

Perhaps caught up in the joy of reunion, Ji Xian didn't even notice the change in her way of addressing him. He gave her a light hug and asked, "It's been getting colder in Moscow these past few days. Are you adjusting well?"

"It was very cold when we got off the plane, but Beijing is quite cold this year too. There was a heavy snowfall a couple of days ago, and it only cleared up yesterday. Otherwise, we would have had to postpone our trip for a few days because flights are canceled when the weather is bad."

Ye Xueyan took her hand, looked her up and down, and teased, "It's been so long since I've seen you, you seem even more beautiful now?"

"Don't try to fool me."

Ji Xian glared at her dismissively, "Let's go eat first." The two chatted and laughed as they walked out of the hotel, unaware that a handsome figure stood at the corner of the elevator corridor. He was dressed in a dark suit, one hand in his pocket, gazing through a floor-to-ceiling glass at the slender figure bathed in warm golden light amidst the snow-covered landscape.

Because of his work, Ji Xuan usually dresses quite formally, mostly in suits and Chanel-style outfits.

Today she wore a turtleneck sweater with a black coat over it, cinched at the waist with a belt, which perfectly accentuated her exquisite curves.

Although it's just a side profile, you can clearly see her every smile and frown when she looks at Ye Xueyan.

Like flowers and plants growing in spring, full of vitality, or like white roses in May and June, pure and elegant.

Ji Xian has always been perceptive, and that faint sense of anxiety lingered around her. As she got into the car, she subconsciously glanced at the hotel's large floor-to-ceiling window.

However, glass is one-way; you can only see out from the inside.

So she saw nothing.

When Wen Qi met her gaze through the glass of the window, his heart tightened slightly, and he was inexplicably worried that she might see him.

But the thought that it was a one-way window made me feel a little more at ease.

But the next second it felt absurd.

What is he afraid of?
When did you become so hesitant and cautious?
Since we're already here, we'll meet again eventually.

Wen Qi didn't know what her state of mind was at this moment, only that it was the same as when she decided to leave that day, and when she saw her and Xiao Guxing four months after the breakup.

It's heavy, sour, astringent, and a little painful.

Ji Xuan glanced at it briefly, a thought flashed through his mind, and he frowned slightly, feeling that he shouldn't have done that.

She gave a faint, indifferent smile, opened the driver's side door, and got in.

The restaurant she and Ye Xueyan went to was a very authentic Russian restaurant, and reservations were required in advance.

Ye Xueyan had told her about having lunch together yesterday afternoon, and she had already made reservations at the restaurant.

The two chatted for a long time, and the atmosphere at the table was pleasant throughout, with laughter and conversation from time to time.

Because Ji Xian had to go back to the company in the afternoon, the two left the restaurant around 1:30.

Ye Xueyan originally wanted to say that she would just take a taxi back to the hotel and not take up her time.

Ji Xian laughed and said, "Anyway, it's on the way, so it won't cause any delay."

When they arrived at their destination, Ye Xueyan unbuckled her seatbelt. "See you tomorrow."

“No need to wait until tomorrow,” Ji Xuan said. “I will also be at your dinner party tonight.”

Ye Xueyan suddenly realized, oh, Ji Xian not only has to do simultaneous interpretation at the meeting, but also has to do translation. There will definitely be a lot of translation needed for tonight's dinner party.

Ye Xueyan seemed to have thought of something, carefully observed Ji Xuan's expression, and hesitated for a moment before speaking.

In the end, without saying anything, he just waved goodbye to her.

When Ji Xuan returned to the company, Shen Jia greeted her and said that Gerna had specifically called to remind her to meet him at around 4:30 pm so they could go to the restaurant together.

Ji Xuan looked at the paper in front of him, which contained a detailed introduction to Linqi Capital Venture Investment Group.

In what year was it founded? Who were the founders? And what projects has it successfully invested in over the years?

Actually, she doesn't even need to look at them; she can recite them with her eyes closed these days.

Simply because we are too familiar with it.

It's as familiar as the name written in the founder's row.

Wen Qi!
