Chapter 55: Stay with me here for a while (Bonus Chapter)

"Fever."

As Wen Qi spoke, a sharp pain shot through his dry throat, and he rolled his throat forcefully.

Ji Xian was taken aback. He thought that the temperature had been low and the wind had been strong these past few days, and he had been wearing a coat when going in and out of the house. He must have caught a cold from the cold wind.

She subconsciously raised her hand and touched his forehead. The temperature wasn't high, probably because he was covered in sweat.

"Did you take your temperature? What was it?"

Thirty-nine degrees.

Ji Xuan frowned. "Did you take fever reducer?"

"No."

Ji Xuan was speechless. Ye Xueyan had gone to a neighboring city and wasn't around. How could people outside not even know that he had a fever and was sick?
Her brows furrowed deeper, and her tone even carried a hint of reproach, "The bodyguards are right outside, why didn't you call them? You just let it burn like that?"

They're happy when their brains are fried to a crisp.

Wen Qi remained silent, appearing ready to obediently accept the scolding.

Having known him for so many years, Ji Xian had never seen him with such an expression before.

It seemed like she was wronged, yet also like she was being obedient.

In a daze, she came to her senses and realized that she had overstepped her bounds; she was merely his accompanying translator.

She pursed her lips, not wanting to meddle, but his deep, dark peach blossom eyes remained fixed on her, perhaps due to his illness, completely lacking the aloofness and indifference he usually displayed.

It makes her seem even more affectionate and tender.

Ji Xuan avoided his gaze, "You go inside and rest first, I'll call someone for you."

"Could you please get me a glass of water?"

Seeing her turn around, Wen Qi assumed she was leaving, and he completely forgot about the etiquette and gentlemanly conduct he usually valued, reaching out to grab her slender wrist.

Ji Xuan was taken aback. The temperature of his palm was very high, and it seeped into his blood through his skin, quickly burning a heat.

She nodded casually, withdrew her hand, and groped her way to the kitchen.

After pouring the warm water, as she was about to return, she caught a glimpse of a soup pot on the stove, which had clearly been used.

Wen Qi cooked?
The thought flashed through her mind, but she didn't think about it carefully before taking her water glass to her room.

Wen Qi was sitting on the edge of the bed, feeling a little weak. Ji Xian gave him some water, and when he gulped it down in two mouthfuls, he knew he was really thirsty.

He then asked, "Do you want more?"

"No, thank you."

"I'll call a bodyguard for you."

Ji Xian went to the door and called in a bodyguard. Hearing Qi's instructions to get fever reducers and cold medicine, within two minutes, only the two of them were left in the bedroom again.

Ji Xuan wasn't embarrassed. He glanced at the breakfast on the table and reminded her, "Don't take your medicine on an empty stomach. Eat something first."

"Russian breakfasts are just so-so after a while, and I can't eat much of them."

"You can have someone cook you some vegetable porridge or lean meat porridge."

Wen Qi looked up and precisely met her eyes.

The silence speaks.

This is Moscow, not Beijing. The hotel chefs are all locals. The porridge may be simple, but they might not know how to make it.

Ji Xian remained silent for a while, glanced at his watch, and then brought up today's itinerary.

Given his current situation, he definitely has to decline the offer.

However, the exhibition lasts for three days in total. Today is the opening day, which is just a special occasion. Actually, you could go tomorrow too.

However, Wen Qi's business trip schedule was already set. If today's trip was moved to tomorrow, then tomorrow's trip would have to be canceled.

So he simply called the executives and changed the time for the exhibition to the afternoon. Ji Xuan was listening in on the call.

I was debating whether to go back first, but when I came back in the afternoon, the bodyguard had already bought the medicine and returned; it looked like a pretty big bag.

We have granules and pills for runny nose and cough, fever reduction, dizziness and headache.

Ji Xian almost thought he went to buy wholesale.

The bodyguard poured him a glass of water. Wen Qi took it and was about to drink it when Ji Xian stopped him, frowning and saying, "Your stomach isn't good. Drinking medicine on an empty stomach will definitely make your stomach uncomfortable. You should eat something first."

His stomach problems are a chronic issue; he developed them while studying abroad.

Now, hearing her mention it, Wen Qi felt that all the bitterness in his heart had disappeared completely.

His eyes sparkled with pleasure as he gazed intently at Ji Xian.

Ji Xuan didn't look at him, but instead looked at the bodyguard, "Can you cook porridge?"

The bodyguard was dumbfounded, shaking his head in bewilderment, "No way, I've never even touched a spatula before."

"..."

Ji Xian was speechless. He could only get up and look at the breakfast on the table: mashed potatoes, bread, fried eggs, ham, beef cubes, some fruit, and a cup of coffee that was almost cold.

She heated up the fried eggs, ham, and beef cubes, then placed them in front of Wen Qi, gesturing for him to eat.

Wen Qi didn't hesitate. After eating, he wanted to drink coffee, but he was afraid that Ji Xian would frown, so he held back.

I rested for about ten minutes before taking the medicine.

"Mr. Wen, please take your medicine and get some rest. I won't disturb you any longer. I'll come back this afternoon."

Ji Xian felt that he had done his job well, both in public and private matters, and was ready to retire gracefully.

But as luck would have it, he grabbed her wrist again.

Ji Xian froze, opened her mouth, but before she could speak, the bodyguard next to her said very perceptively, "Mr. Wen, I'll go out first. If you need anything, please have Miss Ji call us."

After saying that, he ran away.

Ji Xuan was taken aback. What did he mean by letting her scream?
Even someone like her who has no connection to this should leave, okay?
Looking back at Wen Qi's tense face, she calmly asked, "Is there anything else, Mr. Wen?"

"Stay here with me for a while."

Seeing that she was about to refuse, Wen Qi tightened his grip on her wrist slightly. "Just for a moment."

For more than a year, he has had very poor sleep quality. He often wakes up at the slightest sound and is also prone to insomnia.

Later, one day when he returned to his room, the scent of a perfume she used to wear filled the air. For a moment, he was in a daze, thinking she had come back, but ultimately, looking at the empty house, the expectation that had just welled up in his heart was completely dashed.
But that night, smelling that familiar fragrance, he slept very well for some reason.

I didn't have insomnia, nor did I wake up in the middle of the night.

It wasn't until the next day that they learned a maid had accidentally broken a brand-new bottle of perfume while cleaning.

The perfume was something Ji Xian didn't take with him.

He recalled that in the months immediately following Ji Xian's departure, he pushed himself to the limit, constantly going on business trips or working overtime, always trying to exhaust himself so he wouldn't have time to think about anything else.

Even when I'm exhausted, I still suffer from insomnia and sometimes wake up suddenly in the middle of the night.

I only realized now that the reason I slept well every night before was because Ji Xian was there.

She was his sleeping pill.

When a person gets sick, not only is their body vulnerable, but their heart also becomes very vulnerable.

This was the first time in so long that he had seen her up close and felt the smoothness and warmth of her skin. Wen Qi was reluctant to let go, afraid that if she left, he would never have another chance to hold on to her.

The moral etiquette and humility he had followed since childhood became worthless at this moment.

He slightly parted his thin lips and uttered a low, pleading voice, "Is it alright?"

Here's an extra chapter today! Sorry to keep you all waiting, my darlings. And a big hug to myself for being so diligent, hehe. Also, congratulations to CEO Wen on his successful attack!!!
