Chapter 26 Feeding Properly
Su Tai happily hummed a little tune as she walked out of the house, only to find that there were quite a few more things in the main room, mostly dried wild vegetables and pickles, a few eggs, and some small burlap sacks of grain.

Mixed in with them were two pheasants and a rabbit, who had been dead for who knows how long and hadn't been cleaned up yet.

Just then, Madam Han came out of the house, and Su Tai immediately asked, "Mother, where did these things come from?"

Han was overjoyed and plopped down next to her, saying, "It was sent by people from around Moshi Town. You and your father begged Doctor Li to go into the mountains to pick herbs, traveling back and forth in the dead of winter, and you didn't ask for anything in return for sending so many herbs to the town magistrate. The town magistrate spread the word about the good deeds you and Shen Yi did, and some of the families who were saved sent you things. Even those who couldn't afford anything sent their families to come and thank you in person. You've been sleeping the whole time, so I didn't dare to wake you up."

Your father and I were worried that our food supply wouldn't last until the snow melted, but now we can have some breathing room and maybe we can make it through.

"It's exactly four days until Chinese New Year, so I'll use these ingredients to make a delicious and nourishing meal for you."

Su Zhan was overjoyed and ran to Su Ming's door to shout, "Little brother, did you hear that? You'd better get better soon so we can celebrate the New Year together!"

In previous years, the Spring Festival at home was just so-so, and no one looked forward to it. But this year is different; everyone is taking it very seriously.

In particular, Su Chunlin and Han Shi, the couple, were hoping to get rid of bad luck during the Lunar New Year, drive away the bad fortune of the year, and pray for everything to go smoothly in the coming year.

Because of the busy preparations for the Lunar New Year, and the funeral arrangements for families in the village who had contracted typhoid fever, Su Chunlin and Han were extremely busy, and even Su Zhan was called out to help.

Only Su Tai and Su Ming, who was recuperating, remained at home.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Su Tai entered the Time-Space Gate transfer station and rented an automatic flour mill from the medium tool vending machine. She ground 20 jin of wheat and produced 16 jin of flour and 4 jin of wheat bran.

This kind of flour is commonly known as white flour. Generally, only wealthy families can afford to eat it. Poor families like theirs eat flour mixed with wheat bran, which is a bit rough on the throat, but it is cheap.

She took the white flour out and took the initiative to cover Su Ming's meals for the day.

Han didn't think much of it, left some food for Su Tai and then left it at that.

Su Tai can finally indulge in making some delicious food.

The kitchen only had salt as a seasoning, but luckily she also grew cabbages.

Pick a cabbage, add some flour and water, stir it around the edge of the pot, make some cabbage noodle soup, and a bowl of cabbage noodle pancakes is ready.

Su Ming's eyes widened in surprise when he saw the food. "Sis, it's not New Year's yet! How did you make so much delicious food?"

Su Tai made a shushing gesture and said mysteriously, "Let me tell you, this flour and vegetables were secretly given to me by your brother Shen. My parents don't know. I made it especially for you because you're sick. You have to keep it a secret."

Su Ming was a little conflicted, "Didn't Father, Mother, and Brother eat?"

Su Tai nodded and sighed helplessly, "They've been busy in the village lately and haven't been eating at home. I'll cook for them again when I have the chance."

Su Ming hesitated for a moment, but couldn't resist the temptation of the food, and nodded emphatically.

After finishing a big bowl of noodles, he felt completely satisfied.

"Sis, I've never eaten such delicious food in my entire life!"

Seeing that he still wanted more, Su Tai smiled and said, "We'll have another meal later, all you can eat."

For the next two or three days, Su Ming ate noodles with Su Tai every day, twice a day, until they burped. And sure enough, her little face visibly became rosy.

After finishing her business in the village, Han noticed the changes in her youngest son and was overjoyed, praising Su Tai for raising such a child.

The siblings exchanged a smile and remained silent.

In the blink of an eye, it was New Year's Eve.

To ensure a bountiful harvest for the whole family, Han even killed a pheasant to make chicken soup and used two eggs to make egg noodles. Su Ming hesitated several times before speaking, but was stopped by Su Tai's gaze.

When the food was served, Su Ming noticed that half of the noodle soup was made of white noodles, along with some cabbage that he had eaten before.

Su Chunlin asked curiously.

Han couldn't explain it either, so she looked at Su Tai and said, "I remember I went out for a while and asked Xiao Tai to watch the pot. Where did the cabbage come from?"

Su Tai smiled and gave a vague answer, "I brought it back from Brother Shen's place before. I remembered it these past two days and found it wasn't spoiled, so I put it in."

Su Chunlin frowned, "Why are you taking your brother Shen's things again?"

Su Tai shrugged helplessly, "If I don't take it, do you expect Brother Shen to make the whole trip? Besides, I'll only take a little bit. If Brother Shen were to deliver it himself, he'd have to bring a whole wicker basket!"

Su Chunlin was speechless for a moment, then silently took a bite and exclaimed, "Delicious! Shen Yi is really capable! He can still grow cabbage in the dead of winter, and it's especially sweet!"

Distracted like this, Han immediately focused her attention on the food.

The whole family enjoyed a delicious New Year's Eve dinner. For once, they didn't go back to their own rooms but stayed up until midnight before going home to lie down.

There were no lively firecrackers or children's laughter on New Year's Eve. Instead, the whole family gathered together, devoutly observing the rituals, and spent the night quietly.

After returning to her room, Su Tai couldn't resist the drowsiness and fell asleep.

The next day, the family resumed their hibernation period, and she took the opportunity to grab the shovel and sickle in the house to work in the soil.

A bumper harvest of cabbage from one-third of an acre of land is a delightful sight.

With one shovelful, the cabbage immediately turned over and rolled twice on the ground.

Su Tai laughed heartily and continued to work diligently.

It took her more than an hour to dig out all the cabbages. The Earth Dimension automatically harvested half of them. She wasn't sure exactly how many kilograms were harvested, but she knew that in the blink of an eye, the land she owned in the Earth Dimension had grown larger. Before, it was one mu of fertile land, but now the fertile land had doubled in size, and two more mu of paddy fields had been added next to it.

Su Tai was overjoyed and hurried back to the transfer station to check the information.

The above shows that the Earth Space has been upgraded to one level, becoming two acres of fertile land and two acres of paddy fields. The next upgrade condition is to pay 10,000 catties of crops.

Su Tai clicked her tongue twice, completely ignoring the conditions. She happily bought the media tools, transported all the cabbages to the transfer station, kept a small portion for her own consumption, and sold the rest. The total was 1,500 catties, at 0.3 virtual coins per catty, for a total of 450 virtual coins.

This much virtual currency is enough to upgrade Water Dimension.

Without further hesitation, she clicked to upgrade the Water Time-Space.

The original water space only had a small spring. After upgrading, the small spring became a large spring, and the water flow could be gathered into a pool. Using the spring once costs 100 virtual coins, which is twice as expensive as before. Upgrading again costs 2,000 virtual coins.

Su Tai clicked her tongue in amazement. She thought she would still have more than 900 virtual coins left after using 500, but she couldn't even upgrade the Water Space-Time by one level. What's worse, each deployment costs 100 virtual coins, and deployment is inevitable for spring planting.

Not only do the two wells in their village need to be refilled, but the well in Zhongmen Village also needs to be refilled, which costs 300 virtual coins.

We still need to focus on farming and making money.

After sighing, Su Tai hurriedly planted the remaining vegetable seeds. There were no suitable seeds for planting in the paddy field at the moment, so she could only leave them for the time being.
