Chapter 549 Zhu Yixuan's Counterattack
As men in black continued to pour into the Princess's residence, the guests finally realized something was wrong.

The Third Prince and the Fourth Prince stared at each other in shock, only to see the other's bewilderment. They then glanced back at the Sixth Prince, whose face was pale and who was desperately protecting his concubine and child.

Clearly, this assassination attempt had nothing to do with the three of them.

The Fourth Prince had a sudden inspiration, turned around abruptly, found Grand Tutor Zhao calmly hiding in a corner, and instantly realized, "That scoundrel Zhao Yingneng, he's plotting a rebellion! Guards, seize Zhao Yingneng for me!"

The fourth prince's voice was loud, and the emperor, empress, and others in the main courtyard naturally heard it as well.

The old lady shuddered. "Has Grand Tutor Zhao gone mad? Why would he do such a thing?"

The Emperor's face turned ashen. In a flash, he understood everything and spat out each word through gritted teeth, "Second Prince, you're truly remarkable!"

Princess Huai'an's eyes widened, but she forced herself to remain calm. "Your Majesty, are you saying that the commoner Xu has rebelled?"

"Hmph! Who else but him could make Zhao Ying take such a risk!" The emperor was furious.

Princess Huai'an looked bewildered. "No wonder none of the Zhao family women were present today. I thought Princess Qingkang was holding a grudge and deliberately refusing to give my sister face. Turns out it was because..."

The Empress and the Dowager, who had initially been skeptical, were now completely convinced.

Just then, Shen Yue'an ran in from outside, knelt down, and reported in a firm voice, "Your Majesty, I ran around along the wall and found that there are still a large number of soldiers lying in ambush outside the Princess's residence, as well as archers ready to fire. The enemy is coming on strong, and our people will not be able to hold them off for long."

My brother-in-law has already broken through the encirclement under the escort of the guards and gone out to fetch reinforcements. We will certainly fight to the death to protect the Emperor and Empress.

The emperor was both shocked and furious, but seeing how calm and loyal Shen Yue'an, a mere child, was somewhat gratified. "Get up. Climb over the wall. Do you know what the enemy leader looks like?"

Shen Yuean nodded, then subconsciously looked at Shen Yuezhang, "I can describe it, and you can draw it, sister."

Princess Huai'an immediately ordered Amber to bring pen, ink, paper, and inkstone.

Shen Yuezhang disregarded all the etiquette of a bride at this moment, lifted the red veil, and began to paint meticulously according to Shen Yuean's description.

With Song Yongnian and his men holding them off, and Shen Yue'an and Shen Congyu using hidden weapons, the men in black were temporarily unable to break through the encirclement and reach the main hall.

Shen Yi, who was in the front yard, also paid attention to Zhao Taifu after hearing the Fourth Prince's shout.

Grand Tutor Zhao, however, kept dodging and shouting that he was innocent. He seemed no different from other court officials, but a closer look would reveal something amiss.

Those assassins had no intention of harming Zhao Taifu at all; in fact, they kept their distance from him, so the court officials who were hiding with Zhao Taifu were quite safe.

Enraged, Liu Laosan snatched Shen Yi's crossbow and fired at Zhao Taifu.

The arrow was intercepted by the man in black halfway and thrown back at Liu Laosan, but was caught by Shen Yi.

Liu Laosan roared, "Zhao Yingneng! The facts are right in front of you, what else do you have to say?"

Grand Tutor Zhao was furious!
"You dared to ambush me without any martial ethics! Today, I will make sure you don't leave here alive! Men, get him and kill this Liu fellow!"

Shen Yi and several others bravely charged forward, and some military generals from the court who supported the emperor also joined the fray. The battle in the front yard was fierce, and in the chaos, no one noticed Shen Yue'an, who had secretly climbed onto the roof beam to lie in wait.

Just as Zhao Taifu and others were feeling triumphant.

Three arrows were fired simultaneously, with Zhao Taifu at the head. Two men beside him were also hit and fell to the ground. Zhao Taifu was shot in the chest and fell down, but surprisingly, he was unharmed.

Shen Yuean was furious.

Shen Yi was extremely disappointed. "It looks like he's wearing armor too. We'll have to attack him at close range."

"Forget it, never mind, let's kill them first!" Liu Laosan picked up a machete and charged forward.

Just then, Zhao Taifu, who had been so smug, suddenly widened his eyes and collapsed. Shen Yi and the others looked in shock at Zhu Yixuan, who had suddenly appeared behind Zhao Taifu.

Zhu Yixuan remained silent, his eyes fierce, and he killed the nearby men in black without blinking, one by one.

That posture was reckless and impulsive, like venting anger or a brave man facing death.

Ke Yunyun was so shocked by this scene that she couldn't come to her senses for a long time. Tang Yu pulled her back, and only then did she react.

Tang Cheng, holding Tang Tang, asked in confusion, "Mom, what time is it? Why are you daydreaming?"

Ke Yunyun looked at Tang Cheng and then at Tang Yu, hesitating to speak.

Tang Yu spoke first, "Acheng, did you see that? The man in black who killed Grand Tutor Zhao."

Tang Cheng nodded; he wasn't blind, so he had naturally witnessed the whole process.

Tang Yu slowly lowered his eyes, his voice somewhat hoarse, "Remember what he looks like."

Tang Cheng was puzzled, and Ke Yunyun offered no explanation.

The men in black surrounded Zhu Yixuan because he had killed Zhao Taifu.

Shen Yi and the others were too busy taking care of themselves to help.

Shen Yue'an, who was hiding under the roof beam, did manage to kill several men in black for Zhu Yixuan, but the enemy outnumbered them and Shen Yue'an's few arrows were simply not enough.

The battle lasted for half an hour.

The situation was only calmed down when Murong Jue arrived with his troops.

Bloodshed erupted at the Princess's residence, with many innocent court officials and brave generals killed or wounded. Shen Yi and his companions' clothes were torn to shreds, but fortunately, their armor was strong enough that they escaped injury.

The survivors huddled together, weeping bitterly.

Murong Jue led Shen Yi and the others to the main courtyard to meet the emperor.

The emperor sat upright on his throne, holding a portrait painted by Shen Yuezhang, his eyes deep and serious. "What's the situation outside?"

"Your Majesty, the commoner Xu led five thousand private soldiers in rebellion. These five thousand private soldiers had been lying in wait in the capital for a long time, without making a sound. I had to find the patrol guards, the imperial guards, and the officials of the four departments to capture those treacherous officials."

Murong Jue explained the situation outside in just a few words.

The emperor laughed in anger, "Five thousand private soldiers infiltrated the capital without a sound, and the patrol guards didn't even notice! It's utterly absurd!"

The patrol commander knelt on the ground, looking utterly defeated.

Murong Jue pleaded for him, "Your Majesty, it is the end of the year, and there are many people coming to the capital to do business. Moreover, those people have been lurking in the city for at least half a year."

Over the past six months, they have entered the city one after another, using various pretexts and identities, and all have reported to the government offices. Many officials have been implicated. Zhao Yingneng has already been killed, but his cronies are still alive, and the Emperor can interrogate them.

This is something that one person could not possibly accomplish alone, which shows how long Shuren Xu had been planning this rebellion.

The emperor took a deep breath and, after calming down, did not rush back to the palace. Instead, he ordered Murong Jue to lead troops to eliminate the potential threats outside.

Shen Yi and Murong Jue left the main courtyard together and found Zhu Yixuan in the mountain of corpses in the front courtyard. They had Su Zhan and the others carry him to the side.

Zhu Yixuan was awakened, but he was on his last breath. The others followed his gaze to Tang Cheng.

Tang Yu sighed inwardly and pulled the bewildered Tang Cheng over.
