Chapter 75 Fishing in Water Time and Space

Su Tai took a closer look and saw that they were three palm-sized fish. She quickly declined, "Second Uncle, you can take them back. There's no need to give them to us."

Xu insisted that Su Tai accept the fish, saying, "I've borrowed your boat for so many days, which has prevented Shen Yi from going out. I'd be ashamed to give you three fish! If I didn't have a lot of work to do right now, I would definitely go to town to cut pork for you!"
The fish in that Da Xun River are quite clever! We've been setting our traps full of fish while shoveling stones lately, and we've only caught these three. Make do with them, don't be shy."

Since Madam Xu had already put it that way, Su Tai had no choice but to accept it. "Second Uncle and Second Aunt, please wait a moment, I'll go get you something."

When Shen Zhuang and his wife saw the cotton-padded jacket, they were both quite surprised.

"Why are you making clothes for us? You should keep them for yourselves!" Madam Xu refused to accept them no matter what.

Su Tai placed the package directly into their baskets. "Second Uncle and Second Aunt, this was made especially for you. Shen Yi and I can't wear it."

"Then give it to your parents!" Shen Zhuang said hurriedly.

Su Tai laughed even harder, "My parents have some too. This is specially prepared for you two. It's a small token of our filial piety. Second Uncle and Second Aunt, try them on when you get back. If they don't fit, I'll alter them."

"You made it by your own hands, so it must fit perfectly!" Madam Xu smiled from ear to ear, praising Su Tai and Shen Yi incessantly.

After seeing the Shen family off, Su Tai ran into the kitchen and stared at the three fish for a long time.

When Shen Yi returned and saw the fish, he raised an eyebrow. "Did Second Uncle give you this?"

Su Tai nodded hurriedly and said with a smile, "My second aunt said that her family had been fishing for several days and only caught three tiny fish. It's really funny."

“That’s not funny at all.” Shen Yi came over and squatted down next to Su Tai, explaining in a serious tone: “The Daxun River is wide and big, and the fish in it are very wild. The big ones are very big, and the small ones are very small. Normally, you can’t catch the big ones, and the small ones are not even enough to fill your teeth. It’s also very troublesome, so no one here makes a living by fishing. As far as I know, no one in your village does either.”

Su Tai thought about it carefully and realized it was exactly as Shen Yi had said. "Why is that? The current in the Little Stone River isn't fast, so there should be quite a few big fish."

Shen Yi was amused by her bewildered look and shook his head, saying, "Most of the river water here comes from the melting snow of glaciers, so it doesn't raise any big fish. Plus, the winters are long, so the fish grow slowly, and fishing is risky. It's hard work for little reward, so unless you're really so poor you can't afford to eat, nobody's willing to do it. But in the dead of winter, many poor people will risk breaking the ice to fish. If they can catch a fish this size, they can sell it for about fifty coins."

"So valuable?" Su Tai's eyes lit up.

She hadn't been to the Water Dimension for a long time since the drought ended. There was a large lake there, and she wondered if there were any fish. Could she fish them out for free?
Thinking of this, she suddenly stood up, grabbed Shen Yi's hand excitedly, and said, "I'll go back to my room first, don't call me."

Shen Yi, puzzled, watched her retreating figure and asked, "Are you still killing the fish?"

"No!" That was the only response Shen Yi received.

Su Tai ran back into the house in one breath and immediately entered the Time-Space Gate Transfer Station. She checked the Medium Tool Vending Machine and actually found the Medium Fishing Net. It cost 100 virtual coins, which she could afford.

I bought one right then and there and happily skipped into the Water Dimension.

When she got to the lake, she was in trouble again. There was no boat, so how could she cast her fishing net? Besides, she didn't know how to cast a net.

Having no other choice, she returned to the kitchen and asked Shen Yi for help to prepare some bait for fishing.

Shen Yi knew what she wanted to do as soon as he heard it. He hesitated for a moment, but seeing Su Tai urging him on, he had no choice but to help her with the work. He kept talking about the precautions for fishing, afraid that Su Tai would fall in and feed the fish instead of catching any.

Su Tai listened very carefully and asked many questions to reassure Shen Yi before leaving with a large bag of fish bait.

After arriving at the transit station, she rented a medium-lift fishing boat and began her fishing business. Everything in the water was quiet; not even the lake rippled. This situation made her very uneasy, but she could only bite the bullet and give it a try.

She didn't start casting her net until half an hour after she had thrown in the bait. Being inexperienced, she almost threw herself into the water, which scared her so much that her face turned pale.

After a flurry of activity, the fishing net was finally successfully lowered into the water, and all that remained was to wait.

After working so hard for so long, she was exhausted. The boat was motionless on the lake, so she lay down, intending to take a nap, but unexpectedly fell asleep.

When she opened her eyes again, it was still daytime in the water dimension, and she didn't know how much time had passed.

She quickly sat down to collect the net.

This was just an experiment; she was prepared to catch nothing, but to her surprise, she actually managed to catch two carp weighing three or four pounds each.

Su Tai was overjoyed and quickly sped up. Once the entire fishing net was out of the water, her catch for the day was ready.

Two large carp and three palm-sized crucian carp, weighing about seven or eight ounces each.

It was a great harvest.

As she opened the door carrying the bucket of water, Shen Yi suddenly rushed over and hugged her tightly, exclaiming, "Why did it take you so long? You scared me to death!"

Seeing the dark courtyard, Su Tai felt guilty and picked up the bucket in an ingratiating manner, "Look, I caught several fish, aren't I amazing?"

Shen Yi glanced at it and praised, "Very impressive. Don't stay so long next time, I'm worried something might happen to you."

She quickly snuggled into his arms, wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, and repeatedly assured him, "Next time I'll be fully prepared and it definitely won't happen again, don't worry."

After comforting Shen Yi, the couple immediately took the fish to the kitchen.

Seeing Shen Yi deftly kill the fish, Su Tai began to fantasize about her boiled fish and sauerkraut fish. Unfortunately, carp and crucian carp were more suitable for braising and stewing, so she ultimately failed to make boiled fish and sauerkraut fish.

Shen Yi kept two carp in a bucket, and killed the remaining three crucian carp.

Heat enough oil in a pot, add the crucian carp and fry until golden brown on both sides. Then pour in boiling water and simmer. When it's almost done, add greens and salt. That will make it delicious enough.

To remove the fishy smell, Su Tai made a special trip to the vegetable store and bought a bag of ginger, garlic, scallions, and baby bok choy.

With these ingredients added, the fish soup became exceptionally delicious. Shen Yi took a small sip and his eyes lit up.

Su Tai packed a small bowl and asked Shen Yi to deliver it to her second aunt's house. There was only one fish, but it was very fragrant because of the many side dishes. It was enough for a family of four.

As soon as Xu got the fish soup, she took out ten eggs and gave them to Shen Yi to take back.

After Shen Yi returned, Su Tai served the fish soup with fragrant flatbread and a plate of stir-fried vegetables, enough for the two of them to enjoy a delicious meal.

After dinner, Su Tai began to plan her next steps.
