Knight and Wand

Chapter 29: The Thief Enters the House

Chapter 29: The Thief Enters the House
"You're welcome. My family can afford some of these to entertain friends~"

Olivia smiled and put her hands on her hips.

In the windmill, the girl spread out a picnic mat, on which were placed a variety of foods.

Leon and the other two looked at each other somewhat flattered.

Today they got up early as promised, but they didn't expect that after waiting for a while, Olivia came to them with two large baskets. As soon as the girl entered the door, she started to spread out and took out a variety of home-cooked delicacies from the baskets.

White bread with a milky aroma.

Freshly baked egg pie.

Cut the cured ham into slices.

Fragrant meat stew in clay pot.

There are also various pastries that Leon can't name.
For those who had been savages for so long, the rich and delicious food in front of them constantly stimulated their noses and taste buds.

"This is too much of a hassle for you. They've just been made." Lohak moved his throat and said embarrassedly with his lips pursed.

"If you still consider me your friend, then don't be so formal. This is a farewell gift for you." The girl smoothed her skirt, supported her knees and sat down sideways, waving to the three people: "Hurry up and sit down, hurry up and sit down, let's eat together."

"Thank you for your kindness. I'd rather obey you than be polite." Leon thanked gratefully and took the first seat. His stomach had already been rumbling in protest.

Azerien also pulled the stupidly standing Luohak to sit cross-legged, "Thank you for the hospitality."

"Try this. This is Aunt Milia's craftsmanship. Her pastries are the best in the village."

Olivia wrapped her favorite dessert in a napkin and shared it with the three of them before happily enjoying it.

Leon was no longer polite and stuffed the pastry in his hand, which looked and smelled really good, into his mouth.

No wonder the blonde girl's cute face with a puffy mouth showed a happy expression as she chewed.

It had a slightly sweet taste with a hint of fruity aroma. Even with the experience of tasting all kinds of delicacies in his previous life, Leon could not find any fault with this local specialty pastry.

This meal was extremely enjoyable both in terms of eating and chatting.

Considering Olivia's curiosity and interest in the outside world, in return, Leon searched through the original owner's memories on the way and told the girl who had lived in the mountain village for a long time about the interesting stories and customs of the Kingdom of Serian.

These topics that could evoke homesickness were too heavy for Lohak and Azerien to bear, and the painful memories were still vivid in their minds. Naturally, only Leon, an outsider soul, could talk about and mention them without too much burden.

All the way from the Church of Saint Sol that believes in the Holy Sun, to the salvation myth of the Prophet Ilarriel, to the majestic ancient temple of the Church of the Holy Sun, and countless pilgrims from various countries in the Central Continent, Leon talked about whatever came to his mind, one foreign story after another, which made Olivia, the country girl, stare with shining eyes and stunned.

Unconsciously, even the girl seemed to have moved closer.

Leon slowed down the topic a bit and glanced at the blonde girl beside him who was listening to him bragging.

I don’t know if it was the fragrance of the dessert or the pleasant smell of the girl, but Leon’s face turned red.

To be honest, whether in his previous life or the original owner's current life, he had never experienced being stared at by a girl with such expectant and excited enthusiasm.

In his previous life, he had all kinds of hobbies, including weapons and armor, horse riding and archery, card games, chess, animation and novels, and all kinds of random hobbies. Although he was not a novice, his personal leisure time after working hard was completely filled with these various and extremely time-consuming interests. His experience in interacting with women was scarce, unlike that of a man in his thirties.

So much so that when Leon got close to this beautiful girl, he couldn't help but feel a little excited in his heart.

It's not that he had any unreasonable thoughts, but thinking that he would leave tomorrow and might hardly see this kind mountain girl again in the future, he still felt secretly regretful.

Who would refuse to get along with such a pure and beautiful girl?
Of course, if you really think about it this way, those village thugs who have been beaten since childhood may have something to say.

But Leon felt that as long as she was not someone who behaved improperly, this considerate girl would not show that majestic lion face.

After finishing their meal, they took a short break and came to the shade of the windmill tower again. They picked up long sticks and continued to learn martial arts from the strong and talented girl.

This time, Olivia showed Leon and the other two a technique she had recently created.

She called it "cat spin."

Strictly speaking, this isn't even swordplay; it can be applied to any weapon combat.

According to the girl, this sword technique was inspired when she accidentally observed a cat turning around quickly when it was frightened.

It is designed to be able to quickly maneuver and move in the fierce melee. Well, it sounds complicated.

But it’s actually more complicated to do.
Leon doubted whether he and others could gain a preliminary understanding of the principles and usage of this technique in this short afternoon.

Time passes quietly during the explanation and practice, and happy times are always short.

It's time to say goodbye again.

Olivia's face showed a little loneliness when she thought that these interesting friends would leave tomorrow and Selva would return to the uneventful and repetitive daily life of a farmer.

"We're leaving tomorrow, so why don't I go up and take the blanket and quilt home for you?" Leon suggested.

"No, no, you can continue to use it tonight. Just roll it up and leave it in the mill before you leave tomorrow. I will come and get it." The girl waved her hand.

After saying that, Olivia looked at them reluctantly and said, "If you have a chance to pass by Selva again in the future, remember to come and talk to me. I promise that next time I will convince my father to really invite you to our home as guests."

"Well, I will come back to see you after I finish my affairs in the future." Leon agreed happily.

"Me too. Once I rescue my sister, I'll bring her with me." Lohak promised, patting his chest.

Azerien nodded and said, "I hope I can have the opportunity to invite you to our hometown in the future. I will definitely treat you well then."

"Haha, then we have a deal." The girl agreed with relief.

Olivia carried the empty basket, walked in front of the crowd, bowed, and softly offered a blessing to her friends: "Gods bless you, and may you have a safe journey."

At midnight.

The entire village of Selva was sleeping quietly, with only the sporadic barking of dogs and chirping of insects embellishing the silent night in the countryside.

The soft moonlight made the road barely discernible. A stealthy figure holding a small candlestick with a dim flame walked out of the village and stepped onto the northern hillside.

Boris came to the dilapidated abandoned windmill.

He walked to the door cautiously and listened to the movement inside by pressing against the wooden door.

There was nothing to be gained, and no sound of deep sleep was heard. Perhaps those three people were not on the first floor.

Taking out another key to the windmill from his arms, he gently inserted it into the keyhole and turned it carefully, trying to avoid making any noise.

Perhaps he had done this kind of immoral thing more than once, and Boris's movements even seemed somewhat skilled.

He slowly opened the door, then raised the candle and looked inside. Sure enough, the first floor of the windmill was empty.

He tiptoed in.

Boris put the thick wet cloth he had prepared in advance on his face and mouth, then held the candlestick and continued to walk quietly to the second floor.

Looking around, there was no one on the second floor.

Boris continued to walk up to the third floor.

He poked his head out from the staircase entrance, peered upwards, and finally saw the bed where the three teenagers were sleeping.

Feeling happy, Boris did not go up any further.

Although he was indignant at Olivia's indifference to him, he did not completely disbelieve the girl's warning.

In any case, he had to do it alone tonight. If he woke up the three escaped slaves, he would be no match for them with his two fists.

Fortunately, he only needs to outsmart them.

He took out the precious paper bag from his bosom, poured the medicine inside into the small incense burner he carried with him, and then lit it with a candle.

A strange smoke rose quietly in the dim sparks, and Boris quickly held his breath.

He had already tried the power of the drug he bought from the mysterious man in town. Even wrapping his mouth and nose with a wet cloth was not safe, so he didn't dare try it again.

Boris pushed the incense burner in his hand as far as possible towards the floor, then went down the stairs and came to the lower level. He held down the wet cloth on his face and endured a sinister smile.

He quietly waited for the incense of the drug to take effect on the upper floor.
