Chapter 379 Void Compass
Chapter 379 Void Compass
Running quickly on the slightly tilted floating island of the spirit world, everyone, led by Leon, went around to the front of the palace.
What comes into view, in addition to the dilapidated ruins, are the shocking remains of the battlefield.
The wide and long steps were full of potholes, cracks and deep fissures, and it seemed that this place had experienced an extremely fierce battle. The remains of destroyed humanoid and four-legged animal-shaped structures could be seen everywhere.
Leon couldn't help but stop and scan the battlefield full of ancient debris.
Those constructs seemed to be a combination of white hard stone and metal parts. Some of them were humanoid figures over three meters long, with armor-like shell torsos and disc-shaped heads with curved horns. They were covered in robes and ribbons with mysterious one-eyes printed on them. In the hands of the wreckage and on the ground around them, there were large weapons that were totally unsuitable for ordinary humans to use, as well as giant metal bows without bowstrings or arrows.
Some of the remains are purely animal-like, with four claws and a long, blade-like tail, and a head that has a radial ring structure.
Embedded within the broken and open bodies of these construct golems are large chunks of dimmed and damaged crystals and magic pattern conductor circuits.
Leon speculated that these were all war creations of the ancient Lorelit civilization. He had already seen the alchemical constructs and golems of the Herrans in the underground mines of Avalon, so he was not surprised. He thought that the Lorelits would not lose to the ancient Herrans in the attainments of magical machines.
He walked up to the wreckage of a magical construct in the shape of a giant warrior that was not too damaged. To be honest, seeing this technological creation that could obviously be reproduced on the continent of Omros, Leon really wanted to drag one back for careful study.
Unfortunately, he did not have any of the space storage artifacts seen in his previous works, and in his current situation he did not have the energy to carry the huge amount of wreckage with him.
After thinking about it and not wasting time, Leon decided to settle for the next best thing.
Inverted Gungnir tried to pry at the crack in the chest of a golem. He frowned, not wanting to waste magic power to summon Molten Flame. Attacking magic could easily destroy the internal structure, so he turned around and looked at Olivia:
"Lend me your sword, and help me remove the breastplate of this thing."
The girl nodded and immediately handed over the Holy Sword of the Sun. She stepped on the wreckage and helped Leon hold down the strange golem body, holding the edge of the breastplate with both hands.
Using the indestructible holy sword, Leon pried open the golem's breastplate along the crack with a snap, then squatted down and groped around, forcibly pulling out the still intact crystal creation inside.
Both his intuition and first impression told him that this crystal might be some kind of magical energy used by ancient civilization. Even if it no longer had its original function, it still had considerable research value.
As for other larger parts, Leon could only give up with regret.
Finally, after noting down the internal magic pattern structure that he could see clearly, Leon put away the huge crystal and led everyone into the ruins of the ancient palace in front of them.
The team's footsteps echoed in the cold and empty environment. On the broken and collapsed walls, one could vaguely see the luxurious decorations and carvings of the past.
The cracks in the collapsed dome shone with colorful rainbow light from the spiritual world, illuminating the shattered boat-like giant in the center of the palace platform.
Even the soldiers of the Order who came from Kleinian and had seen huge warships were suffocated by the scene before them.
As you approach and look up at the ship that is hundreds of meters long and dozens of meters high, standing under such a huge man-made object, you can't help but feel awe.
The huge hull seemed to be made of an unknown metal, and golden tracks inlaid with eternal runes covered the strange silver hull.
However, the magnificent exterior of this giant ship, which was suspected to be called a "star ship" by the ancient magic projection, is now dull and its damaged, twisted and collapsed internal structure is completely exposed under the thick cracks in the broken side.
Leon noticed that there were no external injuries on the hull of the wreckage of the starship, but the exposed interior was in a mess and the structure was distorted, as if it had been destroyed from the inside out by some force rather than having been attacked from the outside.
He looked around and didn't see any other places in the empty palace ruins. This should be the "Star Ship Hub" that Suvel projected.
The question is, where is the void compass that the projection said could help me leave the spiritual world?
He paced around the outside of the starship wreckage, thinking in his heart.
Judging from the name, since it is called "compass", it should obviously be a magical device used in conjunction with this star ship.
Perhaps the wizard Suville, who had descended on Cranean, traveled across the planes on such a ship?
Leon let Sasha take the wounded to rest in the huge hub hall, and then ordered Olivia and Canis to lead the team to search the interior of the starship through other cracks.
He led the remaining knights to the broken section of the bow, climbed up the cabin passage, and searched upwards for the cabin that was suspected to be the bridge.
The dark corridor was illuminated by the corona behind Leon's head. The metal chains hanging from the top were like entwined vines. Between the stone walls were cracked statues and broken crystals, and the floor inlaid with runes was dim and dull.
The knights dispersed from him and searched for a passage along the open interior cabins.
After a long and violent fight to clear their way, they finally reached the upper deck area, but they were blocked by a huge door.
Leon had no choice but to insert Gungnir, which was ignited with molten flames, into the twisted door. After cutting open a gap, he and the knights worked together to crash into the door and force it open.
The door fell to the ground with a loud bang, and everyone stepped in. Under the shining light, what came into view was a spacious circular hall. The hall was full of uniquely shaped platforms, but the structures on them had been blown to pieces, and crystals engraved with magic patterns and structural fragments were all over the ground.
One side of the entrance was raised in a stepped shape, with a high-backed throne embedded in a circular rail platform on the top. Leon felt that the appearance seemed familiar.
Except that the sculpture on top of the throne is not a sun but a one-eyed statue, the appearance of this stone throne is very similar to the throne of Lady Avros in the tower of the wizard of Avalon Castle.
"Marshal, there is someone up there." A knight walking in front turned around and reminded.
Leon quickened his pace and walked around to the front of the wizard's throne, and sure enough, he saw a man in a purple robe sitting on it.
Under the illumination of the halo behind his head, he could more clearly recognize that the man's appearance was exactly the same as the previous magic projection.
Suville?
Looking at the ancient wizard sitting peacefully with his eyes closed as if asleep, Leon instinctively became alert, but soon relaxed.
The feedback from the surge of magical power he tentatively released told him that the person in front of him was not a living person, but merely a corpse that had no signs of life.
Perhaps it was the characteristics of the spiritual world that preserved the body intact, or perhaps it was the magic contained in the body that allowed it to remain incorruptible. Although its remains showed no signs of decay, it was definitely not a recent death.
Judging from the remains that still had a human form, this ancient magician of the Court of Mysteries did not seem to have turned into a demon in the spirit world along with the other fallen ancient magicians? Leon could not be sure, and he was unwilling to take the risk of going forward to check the body.
It is obviously unwise to disturb the remains of the ancient magician rashly. Considering the special nature of the spiritual realm and how powerful the deceased was during his lifetime, who knows whether he will come back to life after his death.
Turning back to search the messy hall with the knights, Leon was glad that the Kleinians stayed outside. If they saw that the "God of Dawn" they believed in was dead, who knows what a blow they would be.
However, after a search, Leon shook his head repeatedly at what the knights had found. Apart from the shattered debris all over the ground, he did not find any intact items or equipment that matched the name of the Void Compass.
Leon became distressed when he thought about the current situation of the magical intelligence being trapped in the ruins of the blood-demonized spirit palace.
The projection was so stupid that it mistook a passerby spellcaster like itself for an ancient magic king. Could it be that the information in the database was also outdated, and it didn't realize that the Void Compass and the Star Ship had been destroyed long ago?
If this is the case, wouldn't it be a wasted trip for me, and I can only go back to the blood nest-like spiritual palace and cooperate with the blood demon?
Struggling, he turned his head and looked at the throne in the center of the bridge hall.
In the entire space, that was the only thing that had not been searched.
Looking more closely, it seemed that Su Weier's body was holding a dark golden spherical object in his hands.
After much deliberation, he finally took the courage to step onto the higher level.
He held Gungnir tightly and approached the body, wishing he could grab a black donkey hoof. When he saw that the trap was not triggered after he approached, and the body showed no signs of resurrection, Leon slowly felt relieved. "Excuse me, Lord Suvel." He bowed slightly to the body and apologized softly, then carefully took the golden sphere full of magic grooves from between its hands.
The moment he got the sphere, Leon's arm sank and he almost dropped it on his foot. He let go of Gungnir with a bang, stretched out his legs and wrapped his arms around the sphere to hold it in his hands, with a look of surprise on his face.
The golden ball is heavy, much heavier than it looks. Even with his strength, he has to use a lot of force to lift it. An ordinary person would not be able to even move it.
Just as he was thinking this, the golden ball in his hand suddenly became lighter, and the patterns on its surface began to emit rays of light.
A sound like a mechanical shaft transmission came from inside the sphere, and the golden ball actually floated in his hand.
Leon was surprised to see the device suddenly start up unexpectedly, as he didn't seem to have pressed any buttons accidentally.
But at last he saw an ancient artifact that was still intact. He quickly stopped his wild thoughts, grabbed the suspended golden ball with his hand, and tried to establish a magical connection with it.
As his perception penetrated into it, he immediately detected the complex encryption formula that enveloped the internal structure.
But before the frowning Leon could try to crack it, suddenly, the encrypted magic pattern automatically faded away like melting snow, completely opening the channel to his consciousness.
Leon quickly established contact with the internal structural network, and he felt the amazingly huge magic power in the core of the golden sphere.
He had no idea what this was, but through the complex star-like magic network in it, Leon only hoped that this was the "Void Compass" mentioned in the projection.
The magic power lightly touched the starting point in the magic structure, activating the ritual inside the creation. The next moment, a spherical and expanding light curtain opened from the surface of the golden ball, and virtual images as dense as stars reflected a brilliant star map like the void of the universe.
The projections of the stars expanded and filled the entire hall. The knights exclaimed and looked around in amazement at the starlight that passed through their bodies and flickered around them.
Holding the golden celestial sphere in his hand and observing the projection of stars projected onto the entire hall, Leon felt relieved. He only hoped that this thing was more than just a star map projection instrument, although it did not look like a "compass" at all.
Temporarily putting away the starry sky, Leon observed the remains in front of him and found nothing else valuable, so he stepped down and told the knights to evacuate the star ship.
The relics of this ancient wizard have already been destroyed, and it makes people feel a little uncomfortable to fiddle with them in front of his body.
The group exited the wreckage of the starship along the same route. Leon jumped back to the ground holding the heavy golden ball and found that the two teams searching in other places had already returned to the resting place of Sasha and others.
To his surprise, Olivia's team did not return empty-handed either. There were a lot of strange things piled in front of them. Some of them could be identified as weapons, while others were unrecognizable. They were obviously moved out of the starship.
Well, looking at it this way, this group of people really look like thieves who came to the place where Suville passed away to steal gold. Ahem, adventurers.
"What are these?" Leon asked as he approached.
Olivia, who was carrying a great sword, looked away. "We didn't find anything that looked like a compass, but we found a lot of relatively intact weapons in the ship, and we thought we might be able to use them. The soldiers of the Order had no bullets and arrows, so they only had daggers, so I took them all and wanted to use them as weapons for them. Of course, if it's too cumbersome to carry, forget it."
After hearing this, Leon looked at the several weapons of different appearances piled at her feet and laughed secretly, knowing that the girl's sword fetish had struck.
This girl doesn't have many hobbies, but in Avalon's arsenal, she has collected no less than dozens of different styles and types of sharp blades.
But what Olivia considered was not wrong. It was too dangerous for the Kleinian soldiers, whose guns and ammunition were exhausted, to fight the monsters with only tactical daggers in hand. Especially since their bulletproof armor was not suitable for high-intensity close combat, and the protection of their limbs was far inferior to that of the tightly wrapped Feru knights.
Canis asked at this time: "What about you? Have you found something that can take us out of this damn place?"
Leon nodded without comment and raised the golden celestial ball on his arm: "Maybe it's this, I don't know, I can only try it first."
Activating the sphere, huge phantoms of stars appeared again around him in the palace, covering everyone like the starry sky.
The bright light of the stars caused the Kleinians nearby to gasp.
Leon looked at the sky full of stars, but couldn't help feeling troubled.
With so many stars, how could he find the realm he wanted to go to? He didn't want to go anywhere else.
Search name?
With an idea in mind, he read out in Lorelit the ancient name of the planet where the Omros continent was located, which was found in the ancient geographical books in Ms. Aphrodite's library: "Gaia".
The starlight in the sky suddenly gathered together, and a beautiful blue sky condensed in front of Leon.
Seeing the familiar Omros continental plate appear on the celestial sphere, Leon's heart, which had been hanging in the air, suddenly felt delighted.
Since it can locate the home world, can this thing directly send me back to the Western Continent from the spirit world?
Wait, home?
Suddenly his expression froze, and he began to excitedly try to combine ancient words, reciting the name "Earth" in Lorelit.
However, the projection of the celestial sphere flickered, and to his slight disappointment, no celestial bodies from his hometown in his previous life appeared on it.
Leon tried a few more names, using Chinese, English, and Latin, and read out several ancient names of the Earth, including Terra, but there was still no response.
He sighed, knowing that he was daydreaming, and gave up the futile attempt.
Looking at the projection of Gaia's world in front of him, Leon tried to figure out how to activate the compass to escape from the spirit world.
As soon as the intention to go there arose, I saw the projection of Gaia's planet turning to one side of the land plate, and several tiny beams of light rose from it.
Could this be a teleportation point? Leon observed curiously.
Looking closely, he suddenly realized that the outlines of the continental plates illuminated by the light spots were extremely unfamiliar.
This is not the continent of Omroth.
Turning his head, he found that the continent of Omros had been moved to a corner of the planet, and the continent in front of him was not only unfamiliar, but its area was even much larger than that of Omros.
The Holy Sun myth of the Western Continent and the ancient records in the ancient books of the Mage Tower came to his mind. Leon was stunned and remembered the ancient continent that was exiled to the spirit world.
Looking at the astral projection again, Leon quickly withdrew his consciousness that was originally intended to touch that little bit of light.
If the records are correct, that ancient continent has been thrown into the abyss of the spiritual world.
If I use this ancient treasure to teleport, will I reach the sea level of Gaia, or will I be sent directly to the ancient continent that has sunk deep into the spiritual world?
Leon felt a chill down his spine. No matter which possibility it was, it was not a good thing.
After much thought, he gave up the idea of returning directly to the original plane and said "Klenion" in Lorelit.
Gaia's celestial sphere projection then dissipated, and as expected, a planet that Leon had seen in the local geographical document pictures provided by the Order of the Dawn appeared in front of him.
However, compared to the several rays of light marking the ancient continent of Gaia World, there was only one node beam on Kleinian.
