Knight and Wand

Chapter 390 The Battle of Mount Feru

Chapter 390 The Battle of Mount Feru
The roaring demon was engulfed in white flames that seemed to gnaw at his flesh, and he painfully lowered the scythe-wielding staff he had been holding high.

Alarm bells rang in his mind, and Leon and Olivia quickly dodged apart, avoiding the dangerous magical light that Valarry had unleashed.

A long, narrow slit was suddenly cleaved open by the demon on the wide, rocky altar.

The moment he regained his footing, Leon waved his wand and chanted an ancient incantation, mobilizing all the power within him.

Klein's divine power did not follow, which Leon had not expected. Fortunately, the alien soul seemed to be much more responsible than Gaia's, and he could still feel the abundant magic power within his body. At least the other party had recharged him before leaving.

"Aka! Help Olivia hold off that demon!"

Without a chance to observe the exact location of the battlefield, Leon roared behind Valari, who was engulfed in raging flames, and slammed his magic spear into the ground.

The spell runes that sealed the demons unfolded from beneath his feet, and Leon urged them to envelop Valar. The arrogant demons struggling in the raging nameless flames were instantly bound by beams of magical light that shimmered with starlight.

This is the first time he has truly used the anti-demon magic he learned since the Battle of Rolandar. He never expected to target a large demon directly, but Leon is now at least 50% confident of success.

He could sense that the arrogant demon, forcibly pulled into the continent of Omulos, was now like an ordinary person being pressed into the deep sea. The demon's magical reaction was even less than that of the dread demon he had faced before. His choice was correct! Valar's screams also indicated that the demon was enduring soul torment far exceeding physical pain.

Before Leon could finish giving his command, Olivia reacted first, leaping forward to meet the arrogant demon who was wielding a scythe and slicing through the magic imprisonment.

The force of her powerful strike caused the blazing white flames surrounding the demon to dance wildly.

In the blink of an eye, seven or eight clashes had taken place, with the Crystal Blade and the Sun Holy Sword exchanging deafening sounds at an imperceptible speed.

Although Valar's nearly three-meter-tall demonic body still appeared imposing, compared to the seven- or eight-meter-tall behemoths in the spirit world, it had at least fallen into the realm that conventional knightly swordsmanship could contend with. In this area, Olivia was more than capable.

The scythe, already split open, finally succumbed to the female knight's brute force, which was like that of a dragon, and was severed from the scythe with a loud bang.

The broken blade of the crystal scythe, swirling and clanging, pierced the distant rock wall. Taking advantage of the moment, Olivia ignored the flames surrounding the demon, flames powerful enough to melt steel, and pressed forward. With a swift movement, her sword flashed fiercely between the demon's legs.

——Qiang!

A sickening crackling sound echoed as the sharp holy sword shattered the demon's ornate armor. Though the blow did not strike a vital spot, it still left a wound on Valarri's front, spewing forth demonic flames.

Having lost the boundless magic of the spirit world, Valarrai, unable to cast spells in time, constantly parried the incoming greatswords, and was overwhelmed by Olivia's extraordinary swordsmanship, struggling to defend himself.

And following closely behind were sharp gusts of wind whistling in from behind.

Kavis activated his spell, and the swords and blades scattered around the corpses flew into the air, swarming towards the burly monster covered in flames.

As if sensing the attack from behind, the demon parried the fierce assault of the descendant of the blazing sun bloodline before it. Its six wings suddenly flapped, and the eagle head on its shoulder turned back and roared a sharp cry. Layers of crystals appeared in mid-air as if freezing the air, blocking the metal storm composed of swords and spears.

A dense, incessant clanging sound filled the air as countless blood-stained and rusty weapons were flung away.

Golden light flashed in Kovis's eyes. He roared and clenched his fists together, his fingertips touching, and with increased force, he thrust the enchanted longsword controlled by the sign. The Blade of Friendship suddenly gained power like a giant arrow and transformed into a silver light that crashed into the crystal barrier.

However, once the enchanted blade pierced the crystal, it could not go any further.

At this moment, Leon, who was completely focused, finally managed to construct the complete sealing formation during this brief delay.

He knew that Varari definitely had a way to create a spirit-like field to change his situation, and he had to seal him here completely before the other party could escape into the spirit world rift!

A massive magic array surrounded the platform beneath their feet, turning the surrounding ground into a mirror that refracted light.

Long, whip-like beams of starlight extended out, constantly entangling Varari's six limbs and wings, attempting to drag him into the sealing spell covered in light.

But Leon was caught off guard and suddenly felt a surge of magical energy flowing against him, which subtly twisted the structure of the spell he was maintaining, and the magical energy he was infusing into it was diverted underground.

"You cannot trap me here!!" The ancient language roared from the demon, shaking the entire platform and causing the earth to tremble.

The magic circuits were in chaos. Leon looked at the cracks crackling with electricity on the staff of Gungnir in his hand. The example of Amon flashed through his mind. In a panic, he threw the staff that was on the verge of collapse.

Boom!

Gungnir exploded in the middle, the magical shockwave spreading out with countless bolts of lightning, blasting the fighting crowd away.

Inside the rocky platform covered with array-like magical runes, cracks spread wildly. The magic power guided by the demon precisely destroyed every node that supported its weight. The unimaginable weight pressed down on the altar, making it unbearable.

The rock slabs rumbled and shattered into pieces. The sealing spells instantly lost their supporting structure and completely dissipated. Amidst the deafening collapse, Valarrai broke free from the fierce battle and magical entanglement. With wings that were constantly regenerating in the flames, he flew towards the mountaintop cave above, trailing black smoke.

Olivia, who was blasted away, flipped over, pushed off the sloping ground, and bounced backward toward the rock wall further away, where she plunged her sword into it and hung in mid-air.

The collapsed rock platform broke completely from the stone bridge, and Kovis, who had fallen to the bottom of the high steps of the stone bridge, struggled to his feet. Seeing the undead guards charging towards him, he roared angrily.

"Go away!"

With his twin swords swirling around him, the young knight slayed all the approaching undead, then charged toward the bottomless altar platform, anxiously searching for Leon and Olivia who had fallen into the abyss.

Fortunately, he caught a glimpse of an arc of light swiftly passing through the falling boulders below, and saw Leon with dazzling wings of light extending behind him, carrying Olivia as he flew to this cliffside corridor clinging to the mountainside.

"Don't worry about me! Go after him!" Before Leon could land, Olivia turned back and shouted to her lover.

Seeing that Leon's hands were empty and realizing that the Thunder Spear was destroyed, the girl quickly stuffed the hilt of the Ancestral Blade into his palm.

"Here you go! Use this!" A sun wheel flashed on the back of Olivia's blood-stained hand and returned to Leon.

After saying that, the girl broke free from his embrace and leaped to Covis's side. Seeing that the two of them were safe and sound, Covis breathed a sigh of relief and quickly tossed her the sword in his left hand.

Looking back at his lord in mid-air, he realized from Olivia's attitude that the monster that had just escaped was of great importance.

“We can fight our way out ourselves, so you don’t need to worry.”

Seeing this, Leon didn't hesitate. He nodded and immediately turned around, flapping his wings to chase after Valari in the direction he had fled.

If that weakened demon were allowed to escape, he would never have another chance to bring its true form to the mortal realm.

Gripping the Holy Sword of the Sun, Leon burst through the giant hole in the mountain's dome above, his vision suddenly opening up, and the shouts of battle that echoed throughout the mountains entered his ears.

Bare rays of sunlight peeked through the dark clouds overhead, and countless winged undead swirled like dark clouds among the mountain peaks. The battlefield was a scene of carnage, with the dead fighting the dead and the living.

Leon searched for traces of Valari's escape, but the sight of several giant beasts engaged in fierce combat nearby instantly caught his attention.

A dragon's roar resounded through the sky as a four-legged blood dragon, resembling a crimson mist, and a ghoul dragon with a body covered in bones and flesh, battled each other in mid-air, their giant wings swirling.

The eerie green necromantic flames spewed from the corpse dragon's mouth from time to time, piercing through the blood dragon's body, but after only a few surges of red mist, the blood dragon was restored to its original state.

The Blood Dragon used its two extra claws to brutally tear at the Corpse Dragon's mangled body. The two colossal creatures, each tens of meters long, plummeted during the battle, crashing through a solitary peak before tumbling and tumbling into the mountain battlefield where the undead and living armies were locked in combat. In the lower sky, several griffins were fiercely battling another Corpse Dragon, while many white-robed Pegasus Knights and Giant Bats chased after them in a bloody struggle. Streams of magic flashed and bombarded the undead army, and the Corpse Dragon's dragonfire breath, sweeping across the battle formation, was also taking the lives of living soldiers in droves.

Leon couldn't help but feel an urgent desire to join the battle and help this army conquering the undead.

But knowing the priorities, he forced himself to look away and continue searching for Varari's figure.

Finally, glancing sideways in the airspace far from the battlefield, he spotted the conspicuous trail of fire.

Valarra's demonic form, rejected by the laws of nature, was now completely enveloped by flames attempting to purify the impurity. Leon leaped up, soaring down the mountain peak, and unleashed the full power of his celestial wings.

However, chasing far behind, even though he was pushing the ancient machine behind him to full power, without the support of his previous divine soul power, it was really difficult to match the speed at which the demon flapped its six wings.

Clutching the Holy Sword, Leon was helpless as Gungnir had been destroyed by Valarary, leaving him with no means to summon lightning spears for ranged attacks.

Without Kleinion's help, neither Olivia nor he possesses the power to unleash the powerful offensive magic within the Holy Sword.

Just as he watched helplessly as Varari grew further and further away from him, seemingly about to allow him to escape.

A muffled rumble, like thunder, from the clouds ahead forced Leon to look up.

The churning clouds parted like a gate to heaven, and a white phantom, swift as the wind, flew out from the dazzling clouds and hurtled down toward the burning Valar.

Valarrai's three demon heads rose, and the next moment, the eagle head on his right shoulder widened its crystal-like eyes in disbelief: "This is impossible! This is not—!"

Leon only caught a glimpse of the white figure's wings as she slashed down two burning sword blades with her hands.

Crossed flames erupted from the figure's longsword, suddenly spiraling into a firestorm that slammed into the demon's body. With a deafening roar, Valarra crashed into the earth like a charred phoenix, creating a deep crater. The burning cross-shaped flames pinned the demon firmly to the ground.

Leon, surprised, leaned back, sword raised, and hovered in mid-air, gazing at the white figure whose allegiance was unknown.

His extraordinary eyesight allowed him to see clearly the magnificent white and gold robes and armor, as well as the other person's pure white wings.

It wasn't some anti-gravity magical contraption behind him that was stirring up the atmosphere, but rather truly beautiful wings, like those of an angel.

Leon felt that the figure was also looking at him at that moment.

But soon, both he and the "angel" wielding the twin flaming swords turned their attention back to the fallen demon.

Without a word, the two flapped their wings simultaneously.

Leon, wielding a greatsword. A local angel, holding two longswords.

They swooped down one after the other.

The struggling Varari quickly cast a spell to dispel the flames binding his body. He drooped his wings and staggered backward, while the eagle head on his right let out a piercing shriek at the winged being.

"You can't be here! Who are you!?"

"—I am the wrath of the blazing sun!!"

The angel's roar, filled with chilling killing intent, and her lightning speed, far surpassing Leon's arrival, allowed her to strike down the twin swords first.

The Blazing Blade cleaved Valarra’s wand, which he was trying to block, in two, and the superhuman strength sent the demon flying backward.

Leon, who was behind Valari, swung his sword straight at the demonic body flying towards him.

With a loud bang, the collision created a towering shockwave, and the immense force allowed his holy sword to easily pierce the demon.

Ignoring the scorching flames burning his hands, Leon flapped his wings of light, changed the direction of his charge, and kicked up a cloud of sand and stones, pinning Valari diagonally into the ground.

He sensed the demon's resistance and immediately drew his sword, instinctively wanting to take the opportunity to cut off Vararai's three heads.

But with a few thuds, more than a dozen illusory spears of light fell from the sky, embedding themselves in the head, limbs, and wings of the demon. Blinding magic runes connected between the spears, enveloping the demon within them.

Varari's struggles weakened immediately, and even his angry voice became indistinct.

The wind whistled, and Leon looked up.

The "angel" with wings on her back and wielding twin flaming swords fluttered in her robes, revealing golden greaves and boots that landed slowly. Her tall and elegant figure stood before him, only slightly shorter than Leon.

"Please hand him over to me to deal with Lord Leon."

The voice, its face hidden in the shadow of the hood, lacked the coldness of its battle cry.

Her words were gentle, yet tinged with a strange hesitation, as if she were carefully choosing her words.

Whether it was a misperception or not, although Leon couldn't see the face hidden in the shadows under the hood, he could vaguely sense that the other person's tone sounded like they were suppressing excitement.

Without hesitation, he glanced at Valari, who was imprisoned by the other party, and immediately drew his sword and leaped out of the magic circle that enveloped the demon.

At least the other party didn't seem like an enemy, either in appearance or behavior. Moreover, Leon could tell from the other party's actions that there was a huge gap between them in both martial arts and magic.

The mysterious woman, seemingly an angel, nodded gently, and the two swords in her hands transformed into two balls of fire and vanished without a trace.

She raised her arms, her white fingers touching the mudra.

Unable to hear what it was muttering, a towering white flame ignited within the light barrier that bound the great demon.

Leon watched as Varari's body grew smaller and smaller as it burned, and white flames began to gather.

Until it finally went out, the demon transformed into a cluster of crystals shimmering with rainbow light.

The crystal flew up and floated gently in the "angel's" palm.

She lifted her hood, and her eyes, gleaming white in the shadows, looked over. She held the crystal and approached Leon.

"I have sealed it as a soul stone. Please find a sturdy prison to imprison it."

Leon glanced at what she was holding, then carefully examined the faceless angel so close to him.

It's no wonder I'm seeing things. Even at this close range, I can't see the other person's face clearly under the dark hood. I can only see their bright, flickering eyes and the snow-white hair sticking out from the sides of the hood.

Leon accepted the soul stone the other party had mentioned, and could no longer suppress his doubts:

"Who are you? Are you an ally of the Holy War Army?"

The angel tilted its head, its gaze, hidden in the shadows, seemed to be carefully examining Leon's face.

"You can think that way."

Hearing the other party confirm, Leon breathed a sigh of relief. He wanted to ask more questions, but the muffled explosions from afar made him realize that a bloody battle was still going on behind him.

“We’ll talk about the rest later, madam. Please help us win this battle.” Leon turned around, sensing the location of Deathclaw in the restored partner contract.

He didn't know which region he was in, but he was certain it was the massive army that had been assembled by his companions, including Coves, to fight the undead.

"Madam, madam cough."

The angel's tone became somewhat strange, but then, as if suppressing something, he nodded, spread his wings again, summoned the two flaming blades, and his voice suddenly became exceptionally passionate and inspiring: "Then let us fight side by side."
