Chapter 347 Gambling
Meng Xiao and the others felt a chill run down their spines and immediately pressed, "What exactly happened? Speak quickly, don't beat around the bush!"

The messenger explained the whole story briskly: "It was that female general named Tielan! She tricked a group of female prisoners, and while the guards were distracted at night, she knocked them unconscious and tried to escape!"

Unfortunately, she was too foolish; she didn't calmly confirm the route to the military camp. After escaping, she wandered around aimlessly like a headless fly, and was eventually captured again.

The tent was initially deathly silent, then burst into laughter that could shake the roof beams. Some people laughed so hard they slapped their thighs, while others choked on their drinks.

"Hahaha! This woman has quite the nerve."

"It's a pity he's an idiot; he rushed to run away without even figuring out the way."

Meng Xiao also found it both funny and absurd. He stood up and said, "Come on, brothers, let's go join in the fun and ask this General Tielan what he thinks."

########
Inside the prisoner-of-war camp, several torches burned brightly, sparks crackling and flying everywhere. The flickering light cast shadows that made the faces of the female prisoners look like paper figures.

As Meng Xiao and his group approached, they spotted Tie Lan, who was bound hand and foot, from a distance. Her hair was a mess, resembling a bird's nest, and her clothes were covered in mud, but her face remained as stubborn as a stone in an outhouse.

"Oh, look who this is, isn't this the imposing General Tielan?" A lieutenant walked around her with his hands in his pockets, his words full of sarcasm. "I remember on the battlefield, weren't you so scared that you almost wet your pants?"

"How come you've gotten so bold after entering our camp? It's a pity you've only grown bold but not smart; you've wasted your time."

Upon hearing this, Tielan stiffened his neck and cursed, "What utter nonsense! When did I ever wet my pants?!"

She straightened her back with a fierce arrogance, looking so arrogant that anyone who didn't know better would think she was the great general: "I advise you to release me right now! Otherwise, when the Third Princess leads her army to raze this place to the ground, you will all be reduced to dust!"

Upon hearing this, Meng Xiao couldn't help but laugh: "Your army? Isn't that just a bunch of women?"

"What's wrong with women?!" Tielan exploded like a wildcat whose tail had been stepped on, the veins on her neck bulging. "You are no match for us at all!"

Meng Xiao raised an eyebrow and asked with amusement, "If that's the case, then how did you end up in our hands?"

"That's because you cheated!" Tielan roared without thinking. "You men are the most cunning. If it weren't for your schemes, if we were to fight for real, I could crush you all with one hand!"

"Real swords and spears?" A lieutenant scoffed. "We're fighting with real swords and spears, aren't we? Did you expect us to show mercy? Didn't you all get scared and run away?"

Tielan's eyes blazed with fury as he glared at him: "If you hadn't ambushed us, would we have been caught off guard? If we hadn't been caught off guard, would we have panicked and fled?"

Another general chuckled: "Hey little girl, don't you know what 'all's fair in war' means? Besides, aren't you guys planning to ambush us too? What, you're allowed to ambush us, but we're not?"

Tielan was speechless, but deeply influenced by the Third Princess, she naturally wouldn't admit her mistake.

Enraged, she began to hurl insults without restraint: "What bullshit about all's fair in war! All you do is flatter yourselves! In the end, aren't you just afraid of us? You bunch of creatures who crawled out of women's crotches aren't even worthy of carrying our shoes!"

Upon hearing this, everyone burst into laughter. They were all rough and uncouth men, so they were naturally not angered by Tie Lan's words. On the contrary, they found her vulnerable state quite amusing.

One of the lieutenants pointed at Tielan and laughed loudly, "What nonsense are you talking about? Who didn't come out of a woman's crotch? Did you spring out of a stone?"

“That’s right, how about I teach you a couple of tricks so you don’t embarrass yourself by swearing?” another soldier chimed in.

When Tielan saw that they were not only not angry, but even mocking her, her face turned red as if she had been slapped several times, and her eyes became even more sinister.

Then, as if remembering something, a mocking and malicious smile suddenly appeared on her face: "Ha. A bunch of useless cowards who laugh and joke even after being insulted, without a shred of shame. No wonder I cut off the heads of your envoys, sent them all back, and sent people to the city walls to mock you every day, yet you didn't even dare to reply! A bunch of spineless cowards!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the scene fell silent.

The previous unrestrained laughter seemed to have been paused, disappearing without a trace.

Meng Xiao, who had been watching the spectacle with a faint smile, suddenly turned serious.

A murderous aura spread through the silence.

However, Tielan was completely unaware of the change in atmosphere. Seeing everyone fall silent, he immediately revealed a triumphant smile: "What? Did I hit the nail on the head? Did I touch your sore spot?"
I'm telling you, this is just the beginning! Once our princess's army arrives, you will all be beheaded! Your cities, your families, will all be our spoils!
You piece of trash will be turned into a mound of skulls, so everyone will know what happens when you oppose us!

The more Tielan cursed, the more pleased he became; the more vicious he became; the more arrogant he became, until he finally crossed the line.
"Shut up!" The lieutenant was furious and drew his sword from his waist.

Meng Xiao stopped him with a cold look in his eyes.

“Good, very good.” Meng Xiao then looked at Tie Lan and nodded slightly. The gesture was small, but it sounded like he was delivering a death sentence. “Since you’re so confident that you think you’re better than us and that you think we won through trickery, how about we take a gamble?”

Tie Lan raised an eyebrow: "What are we betting on?"

“Right here, let’s have a one-on-one duel. If you win, I’ll let you go immediately. But if you lose…” His face darkened, and anger burned through his words, “You’ll have to serve all my men properly!”

“Fine!” Tie Lan agreed without hesitation, glancing at Meng Xiao with disdain. “So who’s going to fight me? You?”

"Pfft, hahaha..." A burst of laughter came from behind Meng Xiao.

"You think you're worthy?" A lieutenant sneered, casually pulling someone out of the ranks. The soldier was thin and looked somewhat uneasy; he was clearly a greenhorn who had just enlisted.

The lieutenant pointed at the thin soldier and smiled at Tielan, "He's the one. Fighting him won't be us bullying you."

Tielan laughed in anger, looking at the skinny soldier who was more than half a head shorter than her, her eyes filled with cruelty: "Fine! You'll regret this later!"
