Chapter 483 The Relic Monster
Chapter 483 The Relic Monster
"Fenrir's will sent minions to capture you?"
Ronan spoke.
"That's it."
Favara explained softly, "This Fountain of Freedom was discovered by us together."
Ronan understood; no wonder Favara seemed to have anticipated the appearance of the black-robed wizard.
"Fawara!"
The black-robed wizard, shrouded in billowing black smoke, spoke. Ronan read smugness, pleasure, resentment, and other emotions on his sinister face. Despite having a face that was extremely similar to Favara's, he seemed to harbor an extreme hatred for him.
"Do you think you can get away with this?"
The black-robed wizard laughed loudly, glanced at Ronan briefly, and then paid him no further attention.
Clearly, Ronan, who appears to be only at level five, is insignificant in his eyes, even though he is currently walking alongside Favara.
Ronan sized up the black-robed wizard in front of him, and saw that more and more figures were appearing behind and around him.
There were fifteen figures in total, each emanating a powerful spiritual energy fluctuation belonging to a late-stage level six wizard. Among them, including the black-robed wizard at the head, three of them possessed an aura almost comparable to Favara, and were practically touching the threshold of level seven Twilight.
These people surrounded Ronan and his companion in a near-circular shape, their auras intertwined, forming an impenetrable formation in the void.
The song emanating from the nearby Fountain of Liberty also completely stopped, as if frightened by the pressure, and even the fountain itself became much lower.
Ronan looked at Favora and surprisingly didn't see much panic on Favora's face.
"get ready."
A sudden surge of consciousness echoed in Ronan's mind.
"what?!"
Ronan was slightly taken aback, but the next second he saw Favara take the initiative to go towards the black-robed wizard.
Three fist-sized elemental orbs appeared out of nowhere, their dazzling light lifting Favara's body upwards.
Ronan reacted quickly. Seeing Favara take the initiative, he moved towards the direction of the Freedom Spring, clutching the teleportation "nut" tightly in his hand.
Almost the instant he moved, a sense of alarm rose from the bottom of his heart.
The next second, dark green thorns sprouted densely from Ronan's head, body, and feet. Each thorn trembled with a terrifying aura belonging to the forbidden domain. Countless dark green thorns, like countless monster hands, swiftly grabbed at him.
Ronan's eyes flashed with a sharp light, and he was about to make a move when he heard a low shout from above him.
"burst!"
"boom!"
A terrifying surge of energy erupted like a flood, causing the white earth beneath their feet to tremble violently and crack into numerous narrow fissures.
Ronan heard the "scream" of the Fountain of Freedom, looked up, and saw three bright and dazzling "suns" suddenly appearing in the sky!
Those were Favara's three elemental orbs, at least sixth-tier Dawn super artifacts, which he detonated without hesitation. The power released shattered the "iron barrel" that had been looming over the two of them, and even swept away the dark green thorns that had been surrounding Ronan.
The rampant energy stirred up violent air currents, and amidst the successive explosions, one could vaguely hear the black-robed wizard's furious roar and his reprimands directed at someone.
Ronan landed firmly on solid ground, squinted, and quickened his pace toward the Fountain of Freedom.
He discovered that the Fountain of Freedom seemed to be alive. It had previously screamed loudly like a frightened girl, and now its entire "body" was constantly shrinking into the ground, and the fountain that was exposed on the surface of the earth was getting smaller and smaller.
"call--"
Favara suddenly appeared beside Ronan, and as soon as he landed, he made a forceful arm-swinging motion forward.
The black barrier between the two and the Fountain of Freedom had long since disappeared. A white object fell straight into the Fountain of Freedom. The Fountain of Freedom, which had been startled and retreating, suddenly "calmed" after the object fell in, and the gurgling water began to flow out again.
"Come on."
After doing all this, Favara immediately urged Ronan to speed up.
At this moment, Ronan suddenly stopped, stretched out a hand, and pressed down hard on Favara's shoulder.
The moment Ronan's palm touched Favara, both of them were enveloped in silver light and vanished in a flash.
Immediately following, one after another, dark green holes appeared without warning where the two had just been standing. As soon as these holes appeared, they rapidly expanded, creating countless black cracks in the void.
"You think you can escape the encirclement of the entire Elders Council with such meager skills?"
The figures of wizards reappeared, and the black-robed wizard at the head raised his hand with a cold smile, completely extinguishing the three "suns" in the sky that were about to lose their momentum. "Then you are too naive, Favara."
The black-robed wizard's gaze locked onto Ronan and his companion, who had reappeared. This time, his gaze lingered on Ronan for an extra breath, clearly indicating that the spatial magic Ronan had just used had left an impression on him.
"You are calmer than I expected."
Here, Favara calmed his slightly disordered breathing and gave Ronan a meaningful look.
Ronan shook his head and said calmly, "Don't forget Rick is still in my hands. At worst, I'll hand him over. You even self-destructed your personal magical artifact. What other tricks do you have up your sleeve? You'd better use them as soon as possible."
Favora smiled but didn't say anything.
At this moment, the black-robed wizard opposite was still spouting meaningless "garbage talk," and a wizard from the Valensarte Elder Council next to him also spoke up, expressing his "advice" to Favara, who seemed to be an old friend of Favara with a good relationship.
But Favara did not respond. He simply turned the space ring and Ronan saw an ancient scroll appear in Favara's hand. The scroll had a living purple eye embedded in its surface and was slowly turning.
“Bopi…Li.”
Favara uttered a low, difficult incantation. Ronan, standing beside Favara, could clearly feel a strange, indescribable aura emanating from the scroll in his hand.
The insults and admonitions from the other side stopped abruptly, and an eerie silence fell over the field.
Suddenly, the black-robed wizard, who looked remarkably like Favara, seemed to realize something, his expression changed drastically, and he hissed, "Not good!"
Before the wizards could even make a move, Favara's spell was already coming to an end.
He suddenly raised the old scroll in his hand high, and then ripped it open.
Ronan saw the purple eyes on the scroll suddenly emit an eerie and mysterious light, followed by several purplish-red tentacles that darted out of the torn scroll like snakes.
"call--"
The shattered scroll released a bright white light, transforming into an ever-expanding vortex from which strange tentacles emerged one after another.
Upon contact with the air on the field, it immediately expands rapidly like a balloon.
"Roar—" A low growl, similar to that of a lion or tiger, rang out, seemingly mixed with the bleating of sheep.
An ancient and oppressive aura swept across the entire battlefield like a hurricane, and in an instant, the entire battlefield was filled with countless writhing tentacles.
Each of these tentacles was over ten meters thick and hundreds of meters long, with dark purple surfaces covered in bright red growths and black, unidentified viscous fluid constantly dripping down, making them indescribably grotesque and disgusting.
Each of the Valensarte elders surrounding the two was entangled by at least three tentacles. Powerful sixth-order spells rose and fell, and even elemental avatars were constantly being summoned. Among them, the black-robed wizard who hated Favara to the extreme was clearly receiving "special treatment." He was besieged by more than a dozen tentacles and kept making sounds of shock and anger in his disheveled state.
Favara, who had previously shown no regret in detonating three of his personal magic orbs in one go, now wore a faint expression of pain on his face.
Perhaps sensing Ronan's curiosity, he whispered to Ronan, "Years ago, I traveled to a deserted secret realm and encountered an ancient being called the 'Ruins Monster'."
Just like Fenrir, the entire secret realm is completely integrated with it.
I made a pact with it, exchanging hundreds of years of feeding it for a single act of kindness from it.
"An ancient creature?!"
Ronan couldn't help but marvel.
Favara nodded. "This is only a tiny, insignificant part of its body, but theoretically it should be able to help me deal with a crisis from a level seven Twilight-level opponent."
Once the tentacles of the so-called ancient creature "Relic Monster" mentioned by Favara were summoned, the situation on the field was completely reversed.
All the elder wizards were overwhelmed by the terrifying purplish-red tentacles that were almost completely immune to sixth-order spells, and had no time to capture Ronan and his companion. The pressure on the two of them disappeared instantly, and Favara's expression completely relaxed. He even began to calmly walk step by step toward the location of the Fountain of Freedom.
"With this kind of ability, you really have no reason to cooperate with me..."
Ronan chatted casually with Favara as they walked.
"No, without your spatial artifact, I might not have been able to get here; I might have been stopped halfway by Ruther and his men."
As they spoke, the two finally arrived at the Fountain of Freedom.
At that moment, a low growl came from behind. The avatar of an elder wizard was ripped apart by a purplish-red tentacle and then wrapped around, about to be sent directly into the hideous maw that suddenly split open in the middle of the tentacle.
Ronan saw Vala frown slightly, then his lips moved rapidly as if he were communicating with someone. Immediately afterward, the purplish-red tentacle that had been wrapped around the Elder Council wizard behind them reluctantly closed its "mouth," and the former escaped unscathed.
Ronan was at a loss for words to comment on Ronan's indecisiveness in the face of enemies who came to kill him.
However, if Favara didn't have this kind of personality, he would never have been willing to give up everything for the sake of "world order stability".
"Follow my instructions."
Perhaps because he had made a request to the Ruins Monster that it "do not kill anyone," Favara finally turned his attention back to the Freedom Fountain in front of the two of them.
Upon closer inspection of the Fountain of Freedom, Ronan discovered that each drop of water that made up the Fountain of Freedom was composed of incredibly pure and concentrated spatial energy.
Within each drop of "water," there seemed to be inscribed incredibly exquisite and complex runes, which in turn combined to form a spatial array that was constantly changing and indescribably complex.
After advancing to the Grandmaster level in the [Spatial Mirror Technique], Ronan became extremely sensitive to spatial attributes. He barely sensed it before, and his consciousness almost became lost and immersed in it.
"Never underestimate the wisdom of ancient shamans."
Arazan's voice pulled Ronan out of his obsession.
“I have never had this idea.”
Ronan took a deep breath and answered in his mind.
He glanced to the side, but Favara seemed not to notice his momentary "absence of attention."
At this moment, Favara was gently crushing a nut, then cutting his index finger and carefully dripping a little blood into the broken opening of the nut.
Ronan saw a soft, pink, tongue-like thing slowly spit out of the nut.
"Next, all you have to do is make your choice."
After Favara finished doing all this, he said to Ronan as he threw the nuts in his hand toward the Fountain of Freedom, “The Fountain of Freedom will naturally send you to where you want to go.”
"Okay, now we can release that little guy."
The nut, with its pink tongue sticking out, traced a graceful parabola in the air, while a splash of water gushed from the nearby Fountain of Freedom, creating a "kissing" effect.
Ronan was about to open the mist space and release the curly-haired boy when everything seemed to suddenly freeze.
An inexplicable and powerful force completely sealed off the void and all energy.
The ever-flowing Fountain of Freedom stood still, like a sculpture made of cement, while the nut that Favara threw remained suspended in mid-air, just a hand's breadth away from the Fountain of Freedom.
Favara's relaxed expression froze.
He didn't even bother to reach out and grab the nut he had already thrown; he suddenly turned around.
Beneath the crescent moon, shaped like three sickles, a beam of cold moonlight seemed to descend from the sky like a staircase.
The distant howls of wolves seemed to come from the other side of the night.
The writhing, wildly dancing tentacles of the ruins all froze in place, the scene eerily quiet, like an oil painting filled with a cold and gloomy style.
As the silhouette of a giant black wolf descended the moonlit staircase step by step, the black-robed wizard Ruther, who was almost bound like a dumpling by a dozen ancient monster tentacles, began to show a wildly joyful expression. Ignoring the heavy restraints on his body, he let out a piercing and sharp laugh.
Conversely, Fawara's expression grew increasingly serious.
Ronan saw the shadow of the black giant wolf transform into a tall, upright young man exuding an ancient and wild aura as it reached mid-air.
His long hair swayed slightly in the cold moonlight, like a wolf's mane, and his chest was tattooed with an ancient totem similar to the black giant wolf from before.
He stopped at the highest point of the battlefield, his pupils shrinking to two black vertical lines as he coldly looked down at Ronan and his companion, like a dark king descending from the night.
"Lord Goenitz!"
Ruther's shout broke the silence. The appearance of the young man seemed to unleash his boundless potential. He broke free from the restraints of more than a dozen purplish-red tentacles and knelt respectfully before the young man.
The other elder wizards, who had temporarily escaped the tentacles' grasp, all retreated to either side of the youth, adopting a respectful posture.
The only reason why the elders, all of whom were late-stage level six wizards, would behave this way was...
"A level seven Twilight Realm expert."
Ronan spoke slowly.
"Not just Level 7 Twilight"
Favara's voice held a hint of bitterness as he spoke softly, "He is the true executor of Fenrir's will, Fenrir's son."
