Super Bowl Domination

Chapter 1666 Staying together through thick and thin

Chapter 1666 Staying together through thick and thin
Buzz, buzz.

Reed's phone kept vibrating, and he finally took off his headphones, looked away from the game video on his computer screen, and answered the call.

"Reed."

He didn't even look at the caller ID, and simply stated his position. On the other end of the phone came Viktor's voice, trembling with excitement and on the verge of exploding.

"Coach, listen, listen."

Reed remained calm and expressionless. "What?"

Viktor, unusually flustered, said, "Coach, listen to me."

Just as Reed was about to ask a question after repeating meaningless words over and over again, Vickery seemed to finally find the key phrase: "Outside the window."

The next second, Vickers pointed the phone's receiver at the window, and the faint sound penetrated the receiver, gently striking Reed's eardrum.

Thump, thump.

Reed was startled; his heart seemed to sense the force a second before it could react, and it began to race.

Reed stood up and opened the window of his home office—

Whoosh! A strong wind rushed in, carrying with it a chorus of songs that filled the air. Caught off guard, Reed froze.

Then, his wife's voice came from behind him, "The whole city is singing, you'll never walk alone."

Reed stood there, stunned.

He wasn't worried about losing; he had long been mentally prepared for this day to come, and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn't possibly win two consecutive seasons without a victory.

However, he is worried about the pressure and impact after the home winning streak ends, and that the players may put pressure on themselves and eventually break down.

In the past, he didn't need to worry because Li Wei was in the locker room, and Li Wei was always able to grasp the key points and boost morale; but this time, Reed was most worried about Li Wei. No matter how mature, rational and smart Li Wei was, he was still just a young man in his early twenties. He was worried that Li Wei might have to bear all the pressure alone.

However, Reed forgot.

Over the years, he has witnessed Levi's growth, and so have millions of Kansas City fans.

Like them, he shared the same thoughts and spread his wings. In his own way, he sheltered Li Wei from the wind and rain, shared his burden, and walked hand in hand with him.

Reed looked rather disheveled.

His wife's voice came from behind him, "That's a good boy. You're not the only one who saw it."

On the other end of the phone, Viktor seemed to have lost control of himself, wiping away tears and blowing his nose; his disheveled state could be described without any visuals.

Reed let out a soft sigh. "Now it's time for us to do something for that child."

More than once, Reed was glad they made the right decision in the 2017 NBA Draft, which made the journey and adventure so wonderful.

Quietly, quietly, no one spoke, but listened intently to the song swirling beneath the sky—the sound of a city.

"Forward, through the gale; forward, through the downpour."

Perhaps, dreams will ultimately be betrayed.

Forward, forward! With hope, you will never walk alone.

Is it just because of one game?

No, it's much more than that.

From the competition field to reality, they once again faced the hardships and challenges of life, and they once again fell into the entanglements and obstacles of difficulties. Everything went smoothly, but they were hit with a heavy blow without warning.

But they will not surrender, they will not give up!
What matters is not the outcome, the victory or defeat, or the championship, but that no matter what, they will stand by each other and face all challenges together!
On the road, the red light turned green, but Li Wei did not release the brake.

On the empty road, they were the only ones present. Watt behind them did not urge Levi to stop, and they parked in the deserted center of the world.

Open the window and wait quietly, waiting for the breeze to carry those waves and passions into the carriage, where they dance gracefully above your heart.

It was like a concert, a concert where the whole world sang together, a concert dedicated to the Chief of Kansas, a one-of-a-kind concert. No one had the heart to break such a moment.

Again and again, it swirled and surged for a long time, causing a roar in my ears.

Mahomes grinned, using the smile to mask his embarrassment, and carefully spoke, "It seems we all think the same thing."

"Our offense. Their defense. Freshmen and sophomores. The fans. The residents of Kansas City. A rare moment of perfect understanding."

Kelsey realized what was happening and patted Levi on the shoulder. "We're not worried about losing, or about failure, but we're worried about you."

"You are the team's flag bearer. You have endured so much alone. We worry that you will continue to face those storms alone, or rather, we worry that you will steal our glory again..."

Hill rolled his eyes. "Travis!"

Surprisingly, Kelsey was still in the mood to joke at this point.

Kelsey grinned. "No matter what, we're on the same page. Rookie, it's an honor to be your teammate and fight alongside you."

Mahomes nodded. "Me too."

Li Wei looked slightly embarrassed, and his nose tingled a little. "God, did you guys watch 'The Notebook' last night? Why are you all so sentimental?"

The passengers burst into laughter.

Li Wei calmed down a bit and paused for a moment, then said, "This song was first performed by Annie Garlas at the entrance of the training base."

Mahomes: "Well, after what happened at Gillette Stadium."

The laughter gradually subsided, and Li Wei's lips curled into a smile as he looked at his slightly saddened friends. "Annie has always been here, she's never left, right?"

Kelsey nodded slightly and took a deep breath. "And Felix too."

A long-absent smile appeared on Levi's lips, tinged with a hint of relief. "So, if Annie and Felix were in this situation, what would they do?"

The three people exchanged glances and spoke in unison.

"Run at breakneck speed!"

"Fight to the end!"

"Sprint at full speed!"

It was completely disorganized, lacked any coordination whatsoever, and everyone was talking over each other, making it incredibly chaotic and disjointed – it couldn't be worse.

The three people looked at each other and immediately began to criticize and blame each other.

Li Wei chuckled to himself, finally released the brakes, passed the green light, and drove towards the apartment.

In just a short while, less than ten minutes later, Li Wei had arrived at his destination, and Mahomes, familiar with the place, found the key and went in first.

Li Wei didn't follow, but stood still and waited, while Watt, Chris Jones and the others were behind him.

At a glance, Li Wei could see Watt's slightly reddened eyes and somewhat complicated expression.

Li Wei knew, without needing an explanation, that Watt still cared about the people of Houston and Texans. After all, ten years had passed, and that wasn't something that could be erased so easily. This was also one of Watt's strengths. Seeing Kansas City today, Watt couldn't help but imagine what kind of treatment he would receive when he returned to Houston.

I feel the same way.

Watt seemed to notice Levi's gaze, but since everyone else was around, he didn't know how to explain, so he just gave a smile to cover it up and indicate that he was fine.

Unexpectedly, Levi made an inviting gesture, not to invite Watt into the house, but to say, "Welcome to Kansas City, JJ."

From this moment forward, Kansas City is Watt's new home, just as the song goes:
You will never walk alone.

Not only Li Wei, but Watt was the same.

Watt immediately realized what was happening, and the corners of his mouth gradually turned up. When he heard the song swirling in the sky again, the feeling had subtly changed.
