Super Bowl Domination

Chapter 539 Disrupting the plan

Chapter 539 Disrupting the plan
In the eyes of the media, the Philadelphia Eagles' troubles are indeed troubles, but the Kansas City Chiefs' troubles are not.

The trouble for the Philadelphia Eagles is that Wentz played at an MVP level in the regular season, while Foles played at an equally phenomenal level in the playoffs. The narrow loss in the Super Bowl could not cover up Foles' divinely-assisted performance.

This is indeed a dilemma.

One is a gifted player who has carried hope since he was the No. 2 pick in the draft, but suffered a serious injury while climbing to the top. No one knows whether he can continue his excellent performance after returning from injury.

One is an unknown dark horse who has gone through hardships and trials and finally seized the opportunity to shine. Maybe he is the next Kurt Warner? But no one is sure whether this is a one-time outbreak.

No matter who you choose, it is correct, because no one can predict the future, and the Philadelphia Eagles must make a decision based on their own comprehensive judgment of the information they have.

And the point is, no matter which choice the Philadelphia Eagles make, the media and fans will inevitably feel sorry for the other quarterback.

Whether it is Wentz or Foles, the player who lost the competition for the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback may not be willing to stay with the team as a backup; this also means that other players in the league who are in urgent need of a quarterback may extend an olive branch to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The focus is entirely on the Philadelphia Eagles.

And what about the Kansas City Chiefs?
Things are much simpler.

Smith is a proven veteran who has been a starter in the league for many years. Not only is he experienced, but he also just had the best season of his career, leading the team to the Super Bowl championship.

Mahomes, however, is a rookie who is still learning. He only started one game in the regular season, but that game showed that he is still rough and anxious, and the problems he had in college have not completely disappeared.

Just one comparison and the answer comes out.

In fact, after the Super Bowl, more than one program conducted in-depth analysis. Professionals generally believed that Smith was not the core key to the Kansas City Chiefs winning the championship. They still did not think Smith was the source of magic for the Kansas City Chiefs' rebirth; but the NFL is like this -

Even if it is just an average quarterback, there will be collective scramble for him, and even a quarterback who is slightly below average will also have a salary premium.

What's more, Smith is a quarterback with experience, ability, strength and attitude? And his ability is far above the league average.

In the 2012 season, Joe Flacco led the Baltimore Ravens to the Super Bowl. This quarterback, who did not have many highlights in his career and was generally considered to be slightly above average, signed a historic contract with the team after dedicating a phenomenal playoff performance and winning the Super Bowl MVP:

Six years and $120.6 million, making him the highest-paid quarterback in history at the time.

Of course, he was subsequently surpassed by Rogers and Matt Ryan.

But regardless, Flacco received such grand treatment.

Now, the same is true for Smith.

This is not the first time and it won’t be the last, the entire league is watching, and the solution is on the horizon.

So, the reason is very simple, the Kansas City Chiefs should keep Smith and even give Smith a big contract.

Unlike the Philadelphia Eagles, industry insiders had no hesitation about the Kansas City Chiefs' "trouble" and gave a unanimous opinion. They all believed that Smith should get his own recognition. From the San Francisco 49ers to the Kansas City Chiefs, this good guy has proved himself more than once.

Industry insiders, who have always been particularly harsh and stingy with their praise for Smith, were also heartbroken.

After all, even quarterbacks like Geno Smith and Case Keenum are the objects of competition among different teams. Why does Smith still have to bear the curse of being a "parallel importer" and walk alone in the league in a low-key and clumsy manner?

Perhaps, now is the time to vindicate Smith.

Compared to Flacco's highlight performance in just one season, Smith has maintained top-level output for at least multiple seasons and has been stable.

"Kansas City should give Smith recognition." It's rare that the league showed Smith a warm side like the sun.

however.

No one knows Vichi's calculations, and no one knows Vichi's struggles.

"Good morning."

"Good morning."

There was a greeting outside the door.

The Kansas City Chiefs' uniform team ended their vacation and returned to their posts. Although they knew that there were arduous tasks and happy troubles ahead, the atmosphere after winning the championship could still be felt in the office building.

A burst of lightness.

Reed pushed open the office door and saw the gloomy-faced Vicky. He chuckled, "Sorry, did I go to the wrong building? The style inside is different from outside."

It was a rare joke that Reid made, but Vicki couldn't laugh. He looked helpless and said, "Coach."

Reed raised his chubby right hand to stop Vicky, "I know, I know, let me breathe."

Then, Reid actually took a breath and got to the point without pausing, "Are you worried about the quarterback? Just make sure everything goes according to plan."

Surprisingly, it was just a breath.

That's Reed's dry humor.

Vic couldn't help himself after all, and his tense facial lines relaxed a little, "Coach, now there is an unexpected situation, which disrupts our original plan, so we have to improvise, right?"

"We just won the Super Bowl, and then we cut the Super Bowl quarterback and chose a rookie quarterback. In the eyes of others, we looked like fools."

"Even if we don't care about other people's eyes, what have we become in the eyes of the fans?"

"If we are 100% sure that Patrick can play well, then there is no problem; but the point is that we can't predict the future, right? Next season is the defending battle, and the challenges we may face are beyond our expectations. Changing the quarterback may not be the right choice."

That’s why they say that knowing in advance is priceless.

"Besides, coach, haven't you always valued Alex?"

Veach has not forgotten that after Smith joined the Kansas City Chiefs, Reid confirmed his starting position after only one training camp.

Reid nodded and gave an affirmative answer, "Even now, Alex is still as good as ever. His quarterback IQ and tactical interpretation are still top-notch in the league."

Fans are "visual animals". They like to see long passes, like to see the quarterback run out of the pocket and fight with wits and courage, and like to see the quarterback turn the tide at the critical moment; but coaches can see more beyond these fancy performances.

"We are lucky to have Alex. This season, Alex taught Patrick everything he knew. Patrick was able to quickly adapt to our tactical system and become familiar with the professional league model, all thanks to Alex."

Veach took a deep breath and said, "Yes, the quarterback is so good, there is no reason for us to replace him. The shortage of quarterbacks in the league has not been solved yet. We are lucky to have Alex."

Naturally, there was no reason for them to take a chance on a rookie.
