Chapter 16 The King Loses His Throne

Chapter 16 The King Loses His Throne
"She won't miss the Sorting, will she?"

"Probably not?"

...

Amidst the discussion, Professor McGonagall's voice rang out.

"Quietly, no one will miss the sorting. She will just be a little late. Our school doctor will take care of her injuries soon."

While speaking, Professor McGonagall glanced at everyone, and the whispered discussions disappeared completely like shadows meeting the sun.

"Although there are some surprises, you are still welcome to Hogwarts. The opening banquet will be held soon, but before the banquet begins, your sorting ceremony will begin."

Andrew clearly noticed that the expressions of several people around him suddenly became solemn.

But Professor McGonagall, like the senior students on the train, coldly ignored the inquiring eyes of the people below. After introducing the names of the four colleges and asking everyone to love each other in the colleges, she left them where they were - in Professor McGonagall's words, she hoped they would maintain their best manners before the sorting.

Just like the evening study session when the homeroom teacher came, after confirming that Professor McGonagall had left, the freshmen began to chatter and discuss again.

However, no one now has the extra energy to care about the girl who left - many people don't even know her.

Even Andrew was a little worried. He didn't know the specific details of the sorting, but according to his current persecution of the headmaster, he was still in danger of being sorted into Slytherin.

Even with the little he knew about Slytherin, he could imagine how chaotic things would be - unless he claimed that he was the descendant of a pure-blooded dark wizard who was stranded outside the wizarding world...

"It's not impossible... I just need to improve my background, otherwise I won't be able to stay in the academy if it's exposed. I probably can't get involved with the Dark Lord, so I can just say that my grandfather was a wizard who followed Grindelwald, and then fled to England... In short, I can just hint at them hesitantly..."

Anyway, Andrew had read the information and knew that there was currently no magic to detect the so-called pure blood. As long as he made up a good story, he would not be afraid of being exposed.

Just as he was thinking about perfecting his identity information for self-rescue, a cry of surprise came from the front of the freshman team.

A group of ghosts came through the wall and naturally scared the freshmen.

After listening to a few sentences and confirming that they were not very informative, Andrew began to ponder Slytherin's self-rescue plan again - when it was almost perfected, Professor McGonagall came back.

"Follow me in single file."

After a commotion, the team was formed, and then a group of fearful little quails followed Professor McGonagall and tremblingly walked into the hall.

When everyone turned their eyes to the freshmen, even Andrew felt a little nervous.

But there was no point in panicking, as the sorting ceremony showed no signs of speeding up or slowing down.

After the freshmen stood firm, a not-so-good-looking hat was placed on the four-legged stool (it was the Sorting Hat. Yes, it was going to be used to sort the houses. Andrew felt a little more confident.), and then a not-so-nice song was sung by the hat.

Andrew noticed that Professor McGonagall was holding the parchment while looking at the Sorting Hat and glancing at the door out of the corner of her eye. (Oh, someone hasn't arrived yet.)
But until the hat finished its song, there was still no movement at the door.

Professor McGonagall's expression did not change. After taking a final look at the door, she took the parchment and walked a few steps to the stool.

"Whoever I call out will come over here, put on the Sorting Hat, and be sorted."

She picked up the parchment, her eyes paused for a moment, and a name was called out.

"Susan Bones!"

A little girl stumbled out of the team after a moment of hesitation, then went over and put on her hat.

"Hufflepuff!"

It took almost no time for the Sorting Hat to make a decision, and then, welcomed by a group of Hufflepuffs, Susan trotted over and was the first to sit next to the specially designated area.

"Terry Butt!"

Another name was called out.

He was sorted into Ravenclaw. …

The sorting was proceeding in an orderly manner, but the anxiety of the waiting students had not diminished in the slightest.

"Justin Finch-Fletchley!"

When the name was called out, the entrance door suddenly opened.

Andrew turned around with everyone and saw a huge figure - it was Hagrid.

Professor McGonagall motioned for Justin to continue, and hurried over to him as he put on his hat. She soon led the injured girl to the team of freshmen (Hufflepuff, the hat shouted), and then returned to the Sorting Hat.

The sorting started again.

The number of people was getting smaller and smaller, but Andrew was sure that he was almost the last one to be called over.

"Harry Potter!"

This name made the dull sorting ceremony lively again, and what was quite interesting was that it took a very long time for Harry to be sorted.

"Gryffindor!"

The Sorting Hat finally made its decision, and almost everyone turned their eyes to Harry who was walking towards the Gryffindor table.

And after that, Andrew's name was finally called out.

"Andrew Taylor."

Andrew walked quickly towards the Sorting Hat and placed it on his head as he sat down on the chair.

"What are you afraid of?"

A small voice murmured, "Oh, my goodness, my goodness! That story, it was you!"

Almost immediately, the Sorting Hat shouted, "Ravenclaw!"

He left the Sorting without even getting his hat on properly.

He immediately took off his hat - the thing he feared most was that his mind was read!
"Be gentle with a fine old hat..."

Theoretically, the hat should have kept its mouth shut and waited for the next person to come over, but it suddenly spoke, with a gap like a mouth, "I know a lot, but I won't tell anyone."

"Go ahead, you'll be a great Ravenclaw!"

The muttering sound was not loud, but it still made Professor McGonagall stare at Andrew - fortunately, everyone's attention was turned to Harry Potter at this time, and no one except Professor McGonagall noticed this conversation.

At this moment at the Gryffindor table, the red-haired Weasley was still happily shouting that we have Potter. Andrew also calmed down a little, and walked towards the Ravenclaw table while thinking about what had just happened.

'It's supposed to read thoughts...'

'From the fact that some people take a very long time to read, they probably can't even judge the most basic ideas, so they need to read more to judge.'

'So, it just reads my worst fears...'

'The good news is that the read time is short and I don't need to worry about exposing anything else.'

'but…'

"I hope it's as dignified as it says..."

Andrew, who had exposed something that should not have been exposed on the first day in the castle, was a little sad and hoped that the hat would not reveal any information casually as he said.
