Chapter 19: Professor Flitwick's Perfect Lesson
When a new day came, Andrew still didn't know who his roommate was.
It was not known whether they were too tired yesterday or for some other reason, but all the freshmen woke up very late. After getting today’s answers from the class leader with dark circles under his eyes, all the freshmen quickly washed up, changed their clothes, and rushed to the cafeteria with their books. After a few simple bites, they headed to the classroom to start their first day of study.
The first class is the highlight - spells.
Putting aside its importance, the professor alone is very authoritative, the head of Ravenclaw College - Filius Flitwick.
This was a powerful show of authority. Although the professor was not tall and did not exert much pressure, his title as dean alone was enough to control the situation, not to mention his spellcasting, which was like an art.
At the beginning of the first class, the professor simply waved his wand easily, and books spontaneously fell under his feet as he stepped on them, and finally closed up into a tall pile of books, allowing the professor to stand on knowledge and look at the students below.
'It's definitely not a simple levitation spell, nor a crude flying spell... but a spell that combines spells for moving objects.'
Andrew recited to himself that it was not a simple spell - anyone with a little common sense could see that it was simply magic that gave himself countless flexible arms.
"A spell... a demonstration of the controllability of all magic."
Professor Flitwick's voice rang out, "I am sure that most of you have performed spells unintentionally, but in the vast majority of cases, you will not be able to repeat the miracle of magic that you have just displayed."
The chalk was writing quickly on the blackboard as he spoke.
"And spells are the most stable factor in all spellcasting. Just like what the book says, clear spells and fixed wand-waving techniques ensure that every time you cast magic, the results are controllable without any messy accidents."
He looked at the students, a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, but he suppressed it again.
"For example, the Levitation Charm. Recently, for some reason, this most basic magic has become widely circulated among freshmen. I even heard the doctor at St. Mungo's complaining about the dangers caused by people casting spells incorrectly a few days ago."
This spell obviously caught the attention of all the students present - everyone's attitude immediately straightened up.
"Levitation spell - Wingardium Leviosa."
As the magic wand drew a perfect trajectory, the chalks on the podium flew up, not just one, but all of them. They scattered in the air, flew towards the sky at different speeds, spelled out the spell in the air, and then gathered together as the professor's wand moved, like a feather, falling into the chalk box without any sound.
"A levitation spell requires more than just making something fly."
Amid the astonished looks of the students, “In the early stages of practice, you do need to pay attention to making heavier and heavier objects float, but you also need to pay attention to the stability and dexterity of the spell.”
"Is this the content of the assessment after the ninth stage?"
One student couldn't help himself, and in the quiet classroom, such a speech was heard clearly by almost everyone.
However, Professor Flitwick was not angry. He smiled and replied, "If nothing unexpected happens, I think so."
"Wow!"
Now everyone exclaimed in unison, and even Andrew couldn't help but join in to show that he was sociable - even though he felt like he was about to dig out a channel.
"Then remember these principles and the most basic spells."
While Professor Flitwick was talking, half of the blackboard was already covered with chalk. It wasn't that complicated though - it just magnified the casting gestures and introduced the pronunciation syllable by syllable. After repeating the content and having them recite the spell several times without holding their wands, the attentive professor finally decided to hand out the feathers and let them start casting spells.
This is almost not difficult at all.
Andrew even found that there was someone who was more skilled than him - he thought he was already somewhat proficient in this spell, but that guy could even make it do all kinds of fancy movements in the air like pulling a feather with a string!
This outstanding performance even made Professor Flitwick immediately give Slytherin three points.
"A perfect display of spells—"
Professor Flitwick's tone was somewhat delighted, "So, let's try two?"
It was indeed difficult to make two of them float up at the same time, but the Slytherin student still made them float up and fall down at the same time...
"Very good... You could work harder on the levitation spell, five points for Slytherin."
The course ended perfectly. Since everyone cast the spell successfully, they didn't even assign any homework. They just asked them to practice more and preview the content of the next class.
-
Professor Flitwick returned to the staff lounge and immediately began to laugh, having been suppressing his laughter for the entire class. This caused several professors who did not have classes to immediately come over and ask what had happened.
"It was a perfect class, probably the most perfect class in recent years."
He said to his colleagues, "All students have prepared for the textbook in advance and practiced the spells well."
"Levitation spell for everyone!"
"Professor Flitwick," said Professor Taylor with a smirk as he flipped through the newspaper, "I think that won't be the case in the next class."
"Of course," Professor Flitwick said without any intention of denying it. "I dare say they have been practicing the Levitation Charm like crazy since the day they read the story - but it doesn't matter. The techniques of spells are inherited. Whether intentional or not, practicing one spell will also give you an advantage in learning other spells."
"That's right," another professor agreed, "It's a pity that Dumbledore has learned so little - if he had studied all the courses seriously, we would probably have an easier time..."
As a result, the atmosphere in the office suddenly became extremely cheerful.
-
“As far as classes are concerned, I’m a little ahead of the curve…”
"First, take a look at the group's regular meetings, and then consider the library self-study plan..."
After the class, Andrew, who had practiced the levitation spell for a while, made the following arrangements. "Also, I need to ask senior students if there are any empty classrooms suitable for practice. I guess the group should have similar resources..."
After joining the group, of course one must learn to reasonably seek experience from those who have been there before - he had considered this before joining.
"I just don't know what the new story will be like - I don't want to think about this anymore, I have to study magic seriously!"
Andrew Ostrich thought so.
