Chapter 66 In order not to work overtime
Chapter 66 In order not to work overtime
"I have to familiarize myself with the documents on the first day of the holiday...really..."
After seeing his roommates off after breakfast, Andrew walked leisurely towards Professor McGonagall's office - except for him, everyone else in the dormitory chose to go home.
Even he himself did not plan to waste the first day of the holiday. He planned to spend half a day in the office and then go back to the common room to read stories by the fireplace, relaxing and finding some new inspiration.
'Hurry up and sort out the document format. Once you are familiar with the official document terms, you can rest.'
With one last stretch of his arms, he opened the door to Professor McGonagall's office and greeted the house-elf inside, "Hello, Jim."
"Hello, Mr. Taylor - would you like anything to drink?"
"Ah, no need, I just came back from the restaurant."
"Okay, call me if you need anything."
There was a slight sound, and then the house-elf disappeared.
"What a convenient magic..."
Andrew exclaimed in admiration, not giving any thought to this magic which was currently far beyond his capabilities. He sat down at his desk, took out a notebook from his backpack, and began to analyze the stack of documents on the desk.
But this job was easier than he thought - thanks to that weird club, he had even read the full analysis, and there was even a copy of the table mat in the lounge...
"Everything can be used in a strange way."
Andrew exclaimed in admiration and prepared to look through it when he got back. As for the document in front of him, he would first understand it according to his own way of thinking and then make a comparison.
...
"Halfway down..."
Andrew stood up and stretched - the official documents of Hogwarts were less strict than he thought, and the templates were similar. As for the details, he had not yet studied the wording in depth and planned to work on it tomorrow.
Just as he was wondering whether to get a glass of water, there was a hurried knock on the office door.
"Please come in."
Andrew shouted at the door.
A red-haired boy rushed into the office almost immediately - it was Percy.
"Professor, they, they-"
"The professor isn't here, Senior Percy."
Andrew looked at Percy with a little surprise. Professor Quirrell and Mr. Nose disappeared. What else could have happened in the castle that could make him so anxious?
"Ah...no...do you know where the professor went, Andrew?"
"I don't know. The professor was gone when I got here. Maybe you can ask the painting."
"It's too late... It's over, this vacation is ruined..."
Percy had a look of despair on his face, "I'm screwed."
However, his gaze quickly shifted to Andrew, with a look of relief in his eyes, "You are also staying in school, right?"
"Yes, the professor asked me to familiarize myself with the documents."
“That’s great…”
This strange behavior confused Andrew. "What happened? Why are you so anxious?" Percy told Andrew what happened with a heavy face. "Currently, the Slytherins are still stranded near the platform. Their prefects left four to maintain order, and the remaining two returned to the school to report. I met them in the hall."
A fake train? And then he took the real train and ran away?
Andrew couldn't hold it back any longer, and he didn't want to hold it back, so a smile naturally appeared on his face, "You guys are - really something, this is more painful than beating them up... But why aren't you smiling, Percy?"
Andrew laughed halfway when he realized that Percy's expression was not right - it shouldn't be like that. As a Gryffindor, keeping a calm expression in public was enough to be responsible for the position of prefect. If he didn't smile in private, was he waiting to be isolated by the other Gryffindors?
"I want to laugh, but Andrew," Percy said with heavy eyes, "Among the six prefects in Gryffindor, I am the only one who stayed in school."
Andrew has met all six class leaders, one boy and one girl from each grade of fifth, sixth and seventh. He has gotten to know everyone these days - but what does it matter?
"The Slytherin students will complain when they go home. Some of their families can send letters to the office. Professor McGonagall may ignore those letters at ordinary times, but as the head of Gryffindor, she must respond this time, and she must open and classify those letters, and even reply to some of them..."
...
Okay, stop talking. It's impolite.
Andrew couldn't laugh anymore - why bother asking? In the past, the prefects took turns, but now there is only one prefect and one assistant...
"No, I haven't finished writing the manuscript yet... I can't arrange the time..."
Andrew, who had been smiling at the matter, began to think quickly. As it concerned his holiday happiness, he had to save himself.
"You came here the first time, right?"
"correct."
"Then do you have the courage?"
This statement was obviously a bit provocative to the Gryffindor prefects, even Percy was no exception.
"Very good, then go to the Slytherin students and apologize to their prefects."
As Andrew spoke, he used an office quill to quickly write on the parchment according to his description.
"Are you crazy?"
"Not crazy - you have to apologize, but be proud," Andrew organized his words, "just admit very loudly but sincerely that it was you Gryffindors who planned this huge deception and are responsible for it."
The quill wrote out Andrew's rough description in a very formal way - a little rigid, but good enough.
"However, you, the prefect, have realized the mistake and irrationality of this matter. You have decided to stand up and explain the cause of the matter clearly. You are determined to take responsibility for this matter and are willing to accept the school's punishment for this prank. You will also use magic to copy this apology statement and send it to every Slytherin's home as an explanation for their lateness."
Andrew briefly described his thoughts, while Percy's eyes changed.
"They would never admit it if I said so."
Slytherin has won the house cup for six consecutive times, but if they approved such a letter and it was actually sent home, it would be a real disgrace to their family.
After he said this, even if someone was dissatisfied, they would be suppressed by the senior students in Slytherin and then wait until after the Christmas holidays to take revenge.
"By the way, you can find an excuse for them - say that they were celebrating the Academy Cup that they have won this year, and they were so happy celebrating in the lounge that they missed the train, so they need the school to provide a train to arrive home the next day."
"They'll send me to the school hospital."
Percy looked at Andrew with a firm tone, but his expression was much more relaxed - forcing the Slytherin students to accept this matter meant that it would not be reported to the house, and it also meant that the two houses would probably target each other madly next semester, but the consequences would be much smaller than they are now.
"Then are you going?"
"Go, I have to get this done before the professor is officially notified."
Percy looked ready to die.
