Don't call me evil god

Chapter 6 Interrogation

Chapter 6 Interrogation
The oil lamp flickered with a dim yellow light, barely providing some illumination for the small interrogation room.

When Pete Chinar woke up from his coma, he still felt a little headache, but what came into his sight was no longer the nightmarish underground cave, but a small, cramped and poorly ventilated room.

On the table in front of him was an oil lamp providing light. There was someone sitting opposite him, but because of the backlight, it was difficult for Pete to see the other person's specific appearance. He could only make out the outline of his sturdy body.

The cool touch on his skin made Pete realize that he was sitting in a metal chair with arms and back.

To be more precise, he was probably being handcuffed to a chair.

Because when Pete tried to move his body, the feeling of restraint from his wrists made him realize that his ability to move was restricted.

Pete tilted his head and saw two pairs of handcuffs made of unknown material, one side connected to his wrist and the other side connected to the armrest of the chair, fixed quite firmly.

The people across the table saw that Pete had made some movement:

"woke up?"

It was a deep male voice.

The interrogation-like posture made Pete a little panicked.

"Sir, please listen to my explanation. I am innocent. I was taken to their gathering by those black-robed men without knowing it. I had no idea what they were going to do beforehand, nor did I know their specific identities. I am really not in the same group with them!"

Pete couldn't help but panic. When he faced the deformed body before, his mind was full of thoughts about how to survive, and he had no extra thoughts to think about other things.

Although he had escaped death and survived, looking at the current situation, what if he was mistaken for an accomplice of those men in black robes?
Believing in evil gods is a great sin recognized by all races and civilizations. It is the kind of crime that would lead to one to collapse first and ask questions later, and one would rather kill someone by mistake than let the criminal go!
"Really? I saw someone post it on the notice board..."

Before Pete could finish his words, he was interrupted by the man opposite him whose face he could not see clearly:
"It's not time for you to explain yet. Now I ask, and you answer."

"Well, sir, ask whatever you want, I promise to tell you everything I know."

Pete’s main point is to follow your heart.

"Name?"

"Pete, Pete Chinar."

"Belief?"

Pete hesitated for a moment and replied, "I am a believer in the goddess of magic, and I also believe in Navarre, the god of light, and Proust, the god of wealth."

"Magic Goddess? Are you a spellcaster?" The man opposite lowered his head and quickly recorded something, then confirmed.

"Yes, I am a third-year student of the Arcane School of Carron College. Really, I am from the Kingdom of Reyak and came here to study. I have a second-level spellcaster certificate and badge awarded by the college for passing the assessment to prove my identity! I am also a victim!"

The man looked up. "The other victims who survived that cave told me that you killed the monster by unleashing a powerful spell that they had never seen before. Otherwise, you would have all died there."

"I've seen the monster's corpse. I don't think an ordinary tier 3 spell can destroy that kind of thing in one strike. But you only used one spell. And you said you're only a tier spellcaster from Carron Academy?"

"Honestly, I'm kind of curious, how did you do that? Huh?"

When the man mentioned Caron College, there was a hint of ridicule in his tone.

Pete knew why the other party reacted like this.

Carron College is located in the neutral free city of Greenport in Green Bay. It was founded by the famous goblin tycoon Carron Lagan. This college is one of the best in the entire Prentis continent in terms of both size and reputation.

Unfortunately, this so-called fame is not a good one.

Because in Caron College, no matter how poor the students' level is, as long as they pay enough money, they can buy an admission place; and the various professional assessments of this college are also famous for being easy to pass. If you pay enough money, you can use various methods to cheat during the assessment to reduce the difficulty of passing.

Carron Academy is full of fakes and slackers. The professional level of the graduates is often one or two levels lower than his rating by default. This has almost become a consensus on the mainland.

It is difficult for a second-tier spellcaster to complete a third-tier spell;

Besides, Pete is just a fake second-level spellcaster from Carron Academy;
But he did something that was obviously not something he could do at his "normal level".

"So, Pete, how did you do that? Cast that spell, I mean?"

When the man saw that Pete didn't respond, he repeated the question.

Pete's throat rolled up and down, and he felt a slight sweat on his back.

He wanted to tell the truth, that when he was almost in despair, he suddenly received an oracle from an unknown god in his mind, and that god generously gave him a way of casting spells that was completely different from praying to the goddess of magic;

At that time, in order to survive, he did not think too much and just did as he was told. He successfully cast that powerful level 3 spell and really destroyed the monster.

But now that he was out of danger, Pete recalled his previous experience carefully and suddenly realized a very serious problem.

Because Pete remembered the three characteristics of the evil god he had learned:
First, the evil gods do not need specific prayers. As long as you call them sincerely, you may attract their attention.

Second, the power of the evil god has a dangerous influence. Once accepted, there may be no obvious changes at first, and one may even be paralyzed by the powerful power that is easily obtained. However, as time goes by, the evil god's followers will gradually change in both mind and appearance, and eventually completely lose their rationality and become fanatical servants or sacrifices of the evil god;

The third and most terrifying point is that it is easy to establish a connection with the evil god, but it is very difficult to get rid of it. Even if you don't pray to the evil god, as long as you become his believer, the evil god can pay attention to his believers permanently, and can directly send down oracles or powers containing evil auras to them whether the believers are willing or not.

Although Pete wanted to convince himself that the one who responded to him might not be the evil god, he was innocent and he didn't want to have anything to do with the evil god at all.

But from previous experience, the first two characteristics...seem to match!
He did not pray to the corresponding gods in a specific format, but some gods received his request and paid attention to him;

He indeed quickly gained powerful strength, and he was able to successfully release the tier 3 spell that was almost impossible for him to master due to his affinity with the Goddess of Magic in just a few minutes.

As for the third feature?
Pete "looked" at the clear information that just appeared in his mind and fell into silence.
