Chapter 219: Construction of Gaoya Steel City

Chapter 219: Construction of Gaoya Steel City

"Comrade Jiankun, after discussion, we hope to be more stable in the construction of the three new steel cities. Let's build one first. Once the first one has a stable output of steel and semi-finished products, we will build the second and third. What do you think?" Ne Win, the chief financial officer of the Southern Liberation Front, said to Wang Jiankun using a brain wave helmet.

"Comrade Ne Win, do you have any concerns? Our current financial resources should be able to support the construction of three new steel cities at the same time. There should be no problem with manpower. We now have hundreds of reliable core members receiving brain-computer chip implants every day. The abilities of these people with brain-computer chip implants will be greatly improved."

"Comrade Jiankun, it's like this. The main reason is that the war of unification will be launched in a few months, and most of our energy is currently spent on military preparations. If we also build the giant new steel city you planned at the same time, our management capabilities will not be able to keep up." Military chief Peng Sheng came out and said.

"Jiankun, think about this carefully. Don't be so hasty. Build the first one first and see the results as soon as possible. We can speed up later. By then, if the war of unification is over and the external environment is still relatively relaxed, we can focus on building the second and third buildings." The uncle also came out and told Wang Jiankun to slow down.

Wang Jiankun thought for a while and decided to listen to the others and only build one for the time being.

"Well, let's build one first. My suggestion is to put the first new steel city in the valley between the two towns of Gaoya and Miene. It's not far from the iron ore plant with 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves, and there is a tributary of the Chindwin River. The geographical environment is the most advantageous."

The location chosen by Wang Jiankun is in the middle reaches of the Chindwin River, a territory that was conquered not long ago in the second half of last year. It is separated from the territory in the eastern corner of India by a large mountain range. If subsequent development goes smoothly, the steel machines produced here can quickly reach eastern India.

Several high-ranking members of the Southern Liberation Front had originally thought of building the first new steel city near Magao, but they did not expect that Wang Jiankun was more radical and wanted to build it in the southern territory that had been conquered not long ago.

They discussed the matter with Wang Jiankun for several rounds through the satellite communication system, and finally decided to follow Wang Jiankun's choice of site.

After several people agreed, the construction of this first new steel city could begin.

Because the site is closer to the small town of Gaoya, this first new steel city was named Gaoya Steel City.

This time, Wang Jiankun is in charge of the overall command of the project construction, and Wu Nu, the chief administrative officer, is responsible for assisting.

On May 1984, 5, the foundation stone of Gaoya Steel City was officially laid in the southern part of Gaoya Town.

Everything is done with efficiency in mind. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the morning and the vigorous construction started in the afternoon.

The first to arrive on site were the road infrastructure team, with a total of 200 large excavators, 120 large bulldozers, and 300 heavy transport trucks working simultaneously.

These engineering vehicles are all electrically driven, and the drivers and maintenance personnel are all fully-solution backbones with brain-computer chips implanted or new humans created by Wang Jiankun.

Five days later, the main road was leveled. At this time, more than 5 C-60 transport ships came up the Chindwin River, carrying a large amount of road construction materials from Hinbetin, Magao and the base upstream.

This C-800 transport ship can transport more than 800 tons of supplies at a time. It was built slowly by Wang Jiankun in his spare time over the past few months.

At this time, the cranes on the transport ships will lift the cement, gravel, sand, steel bars and other construction materials they carry from the ships to the temporary dock, and then the cranes on the dock will lift these materials onto the waiting trucks.

In this way, transport ships brought construction materials from upstream, and then trucks transported them to the main roads.

The road builders used automated road construction machines to evenly spread the gravel and sand on the roadbed and compact them. The concrete tank trucks evenly spread the concrete on the compacted roadbed. The leveling machine immediately started working to smooth the cement that was about to solidify.

Wang Jiankun visits the road construction site every day and uses his super powers to reinforce some sections with unstable roadbeds at night to ensure that these main roads can be used for a longer period of time and that each section of road can be used as soon as it is built.

Half a month later, the dock was completed and larger C-3000 transport ships could dock here, increasing the speed of transporting construction materials several times.

During this period, Wang Jiankun manufactured flash iron reduction furnaces while also manufacturing a large number of construction machinery for use on construction sites.

In fact, if he waits another half a year, he won't have to spend so much energy on manufacturing construction machinery. The vehicle factory in Guangdong Province is already accelerating its construction and is expected to produce large-scale construction vehicles by the end of the year.

By early June, the main road was completed and the construction team was divided into three parts: one group went to the iron mine, one group went to the site of the new steel city, and one group went to the various auxiliary roads and short-distance railways.

Several original mining sites in the iron ore mine were suspended, and all personnel were temporarily gathered together to build an automated mining area.

The first step is to clean up the loose soil and gravel on the surface. The blasting workers bury dense explosives and blast them area by area to loosen the surface soil and rocks.

Then large excavators and ore transport trucks transport the surface soil and gravel to the construction site of the new steel city to serve as materials for raising the foundation.

After the useless loose soil and gravel on the surface are removed, what is exposed is the iron ore with a not very high iron content.

At this time, Wang Jiankun built a rotary excavator with 8 3-ton buckets, which could rotate 10 times per minute and excavate 24 tons of iron ore with each rotation. The amount of iron ore that could be excavated per hour was as high as 14400 tons.

The excavated iron ore will fall onto the accompanying giant tracked conveyor, which is 80 meters long and equipped with a variety of processing equipment.

First, the crusher will crush the iron ore into small particles with a diameter of less than 1 cm, and then it will pass through the sorting machine to remove the useless parts and leave the iron-containing part.

These small particles then enter the grinder and are ground into iron ore powder with a diameter of about 1 mm. During the process, the iron ore powder will be dried.

The ground iron ore powder will pass through an iron content measuring device, which will continuously measure the iron content of the iron ore powder. Iron ore powders with different iron contents will be placed in different collection boxes, and the intervals are classified according to 25%~28%, 28%~31%, 31%~35%, 35%~38%, and above 38%.

These iron ore powders with different iron contents will subsequently be sent to different reduction furnaces for smelting, which can further speed up the smelting speed and reduce the amount of reducing agent used.

Wang Jiankun first manufactured two sets of such rotary excavators and crawler ore processing vehicles. If they work 2 hours a day, after removing useless parts and water vapor, they can produce 12 tons of iron ore powder.

The iron ore powder will be transported by short-distance rail to the ironworks 10 kilometers away.

At this time, the construction team in the Steel New City is consolidating the foundation of the ironworks. After each one is compacted, the subsequent construction team will quickly place steel bars and pour cement and gravel.

After a few days, the foundation was stabilized, and the flash iron reduction furnace stored in the northern base would be transported to the dock here by a transport ship, and then a large transport vehicle and crane would work together to lift the reduction furnace onto the foundation.

After being hoisted into place, the workers immediately used large pneumatic cannons to tighten the screws. Each screw used to fix the parts was as thick as an adult's arm.

After tightening the screws, another team will come to connect various pipes and cables to the reduction furnace. There are gas pipes for transporting hydrogen and carbon monoxide, water pipes for transporting cooling water, as well as superconducting transmission cables and optical cables.

After seeing the first flash iron reduction furnace being installed correctly, Wang Jiankun no longer spent too much energy on the ironworks, but began to work on the construction of other facilities.

First was the power plant, which he placed in the north near the foot of the mountain.

He did not spend too much energy on digging the earth, but instead used a semi-buried method to embed the nuclear reactor into the mountain.

In order to ensure that there would be no shortage of electricity after the construction of the new steel city was completed, he built a total of 10 300-megawatt nuclear reactors. At that time, different numbers could be started according to needs. At the beginning, one reactor would be more than enough because the iron-making stage consumed very little electricity.

It took about two days to arrange the 2 reactors in a circle around the mountain, with the inspection and power feed ports facing the valley. For the safety of the area, Wang Jiankun transferred more than 10 new humans with special forces physique to stand guard.

After the reactor was built, the transmission line was built by the circuit construction team. Because superconducting direct current transmission was used, large-scale substation equipment was no longer needed, which saved Wang Jiankun a lot of work.

At this time, CD-318 superconducting material has been prepared by researchers from Quanjiezhen using conventional methods. Although the production cost is relatively high, more than 20 times that of ordinary copper wires, Wang Jiankun still asked them to use conventional methods for mass production. The cost will subsequently decrease with the increase in output and the continuous maturity of the process. Without mass production, it will never be possible to reduce the cost.

It will be impossible to rely on Wang Jiankun's superpowers to manufacture basic materials such as cables in the future, because the amount used will far exceed Wang Jiankun's daily manufacturing limit.

The laying of superconducting cables does not require Wang Jiankun's guidance. Quanjiezhen's power construction workers can handle it well. They will use small excavators to dig cable trenches, then harden them with cement, and then bury composite material pipes inside. After these are repaired, the superconducting cables can be laid very quickly.

By mid-June, the gas preparation plant had completed its infrastructure work, with the foundation and some concrete buildings having been built.

Wang Jiankun then came to the gas preparation plant and began to use his superpowers to build gas manufacturing and storage equipment.

The first is the electrolysis hydrogen production plant, where electrolytic cells are built on a cement foundation and various pipelines are also manufactured.

The hydrogen produced by electrolysis here will be sent to a pressurized cooling station for cooling, and some of the by-product oxygen will be collected and later used in hospitals, steelmaking workshops and other places.

After completing the manufacturing of equipment for the electrolysis plant, Wang Jiankun then began to manufacture a large number of hydrogen storage tanks and carbon monoxide storage tanks.

The hydrogen storage tank is half-buried in the ground for thermal insulation purposes. In addition, since hydrogen molecules are too small, there will be slight leakage, so exhaust facilities must be installed to discharge the leaked hydrogen to prevent the concentration from reaching the detonation value and causing an explosion.

Wang Jiankun did not use his super powers to manufacture the carbon monoxide production equipment. Instead, he gave the drawings to the machinery factory and asked them to produce it, because the structure was too simple and there were no particularly sophisticated parts that were beyond conventional manufacturing capabilities.

In this way, by June 6, the gas preparation plant, transmission lines, and gas transmission lines were completed one after another, and a 25-megawatt nuclear reactor was successfully started.

The iron ore area has also started formal mining. Currently, more than 30 tons of iron ore powder with different iron contents have been transported to the iron ore powder storage area.

20 iron-making reduction furnaces have been installed, and more are being installed continuously.

Construction teams have also moved into other steel mills and machinery manufacturing plants. Currently, the foundation of the electric furnace steelmaking plant has been completed, and they are just waiting for the electric furnaces they manufacture to be transported from Magao's manufacturing plant.

Other ancillary facilities in the new city, such as canteens and dormitories, are relatively simple and are all built with containers. These living facilities will only be built after the main production facilities are completed.

Wang Jiankun inspected the entire new steel city that day, focusing on the production and transportation facilities of water, electricity and gas to ensure that no major problems would arise when production officially started.

The inspection results were perfect. These construction workers and new human members who had brain-computer chips implanted worked rigorously and conscientiously, and carried out the construction meticulously according to the drawings provided by Wang Jiankun.

After confirming that there were no problems, Wang Jiankun found his uncle and discussed with him the time for ignition and trial operation.
