In the heavens, people become emperors by being bad.
Chapter 595 [Subduing the Buddhist Maiden, the Peacock Mount]
Chapter 595 [Subduing the Buddhist Maiden, the Peacock Mount]
The Vajra Pestle shone brightly, its myriad purple energies boiling and flowing with metallic luster, dancing with Mount Sumeru. Its control over Mount Sumeru far surpassed that of the Golden Dao Crown. It seized the boundless spiritual power of the Western Desert Buddhist Land, refining it in an instant, and unleashing an aura that could crush eternity.
Lin Xian held an imperial weapon, his appearance solemn and dignified. A treasure wheel hung behind his head, ancient and mysterious. Countless rays of light surrounded him like a necklace, making him seem like the master of Mount Sumeru or a Buddhist saint. With a leap, he landed steadily on the body of the Great Peacock King.
Dressed in a light white silk robe, she appeared otherworldly and ethereal, like a Buddhist nun. At this moment, she could no longer maintain her composure.
In an instant, the phantom images of celestial bodhisattvas appeared, the sound of scriptures echoed, gold covered the ground, and celestial light shone over the entire Mount Sumeru, making it very sacred.
"You little thief, you are so brave!"
The Great Peacock King gritted her teeth, her fair face flushed, and her phoenix eyes were filled with anger. As the supreme protector of Buddhism, she was of such high status that even the ancient Buddha Maha had to pay homage to her as a half-master.
In the past, when Shakyamuni and she disagreed on their beliefs, neither of them resorted to violence. Instead, at the urging of the monks in the Amitabha Starfield, Shakyamuni treated her as an honored guest. Now, however, she has lost face in front of the Buddhas on Mount Sumeru. Her black hair is draped over her waist, the armlets on her arms have long since fallen off, and her magical artifacts are scattered in all directions.
"Peacock, surrender now!"
Lin Xian roared, his Quasi-Emperor-level physical body overwhelmingly suppressing the peacock. Countless rays of Buddha light shone brightly, like a sixteen-foot-tall golden body, suppressing all laws in the human world.
"I'll fight you to the death!"
The Great Peacock King was no ordinary Great Sage. He had once touched the Quasi-Emperor realm and then turned back. Such a powerful being must have touched the forbidden realm of the gods. After his anger burned to the extreme, he actually appeared, his imperial aura surging, and his power was astonishing.
Quasi-Emperors, to varying degrees, all possess divine restrictions; it's just a matter of how often and to what extent. Even Lin Xian once used a divine restriction to defy Emperor Ye, creating an eternal miracle.
The peacock soared through the air, flipped over, and struck. Its long, straight legs, beautifully displayed beneath its white robes, were as sharp and terrifying as blades, giving the impression of crushing Mount Sumeru and resonating with the faith of all the heavens.
With a deafening roar, even the outer stars were shattered, and the universe trembled as five-colored divine light rose.
The so-called Five Elements are not simply metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Water is said to flow downwards, fire is said to rise upwards, wood is said to bend and straighten, metal is said to change and transform, and earth is said to cultivate and harvest. They symbolize five major changes and represent the movement of the universe.
Once the movement stops, the world will inevitably fall silent, hence the five-colored divine light sweeps across everything.
"Little Doyle."
Lin Xian smiled slightly and waved his hand again toward the summit of Mount Sumeru. Two Bodhi trees swayed, one a tender new growth, green as jade, and the other an old tree undergoing transformation, with earth, water, wind, and fire rotating, and the four elements becoming empty.
The old tree flew into the palm of the forest immortal, bursting forth with seven-colored light. It swept towards the five-colored divine light, using Bodhi wisdom to break the silence of the universe.
The Bodhi tree, also known as the tree of thought, the tree of enlightenment, or the tree of wisdom, has always been regarded as a sacred tree in Buddhism. It is said that Amitabha Buddha and Shakyamuni attained enlightenment under this tree.
It was this power of wisdom arising from stillness that enabled Amitabha Buddha and Shakyamuni to defeat the powerful Peacock Clan and recruit them as protectors of Buddhism.
Now, Lin Xian is reenacting the story, his eyes deep and boundless like the ocean, his wisdom astonishing at this moment, comparable to that of the Heavenly Emperor.
The collision of the two unleashed tremendous power, as if countless galaxies were shattered, and the heavens trembled.
Why will the Bodhi tree help you?
The Great Peacock King rebuked her, a huge Buddha character appearing on her white forehead. Unwilling to succumb to despair, she fought desperately to summon the ultimate treasure of the Great Thunderclap Temple.
A relic shone brightly, its celestial light soaring into the sky, dancing out like a heart carved from a divine diamond, inside which was a blurry Buddha figure, mysterious and unfathomable.
Under its influence, the entire Mount Sumeru seemed to come alive, as terrifying as the resurrection of an ancient emperor.
The sacred relic of Amitabha Buddha's Nirvana, the relic of the Great Emperor, is even more important than imperial weapons.
“The Bodhi tree and the Vajra pestle can help me, let alone the relics.”
Lin Xian sighed, a hint of pity flashing in his eyes. He stretched out his palm, formed the Demon-Subduing Seal, and touched the earth, indicating to all sentient beings in the Three Realms and Six Paths that he had become a Buddha and was now the World Honored One.
The relic spun around the head of the Great Peacock King, gazed at the Buddha character for a moment, emitted five colors and ten lights, and finally flew away, choosing to become one with the Vajra and the Bodhi tree, forming a trinity.
"No!"
The merciless abandonment of the relics caused the Great Peacock King to completely collapse. His black hair flew wildly, and he actually revealed his true form, which was a white peacock, as clear as mutton fat jade, and extremely huge, as if it could swallow up all living beings in a region with just one mouth.
"Not good." The ancient Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the Great Thunderclap Temple all changed color. They were all old monks of Buddhism and had naturally heard of the classic legend of the peacock. Once it revealed its true form, it was meant to be ferocious.
"If the meditation is disrupted, everyone should return to their proper positions."
The golden-haired divine ape in the Great Thunderclap Temple, draped in a kasaya, remained calm, ordering all the Buddhas to enter the temple and observe the situation, as if he had foreseen the outcome.
"I will obey the Buddha's instructions."
The Buddhist monks on Mount Sumeru were overjoyed and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Then they lined up one by one and filed in.
If the sky were to fall, the Quasi-Emperor would hold it up; the Victorious Fighting Buddha is now a genuine Buddha.
"What can a peacock accomplish? Let the phoenix come."
Lin Xian smiled slightly. With the three treasures of Buddhism in his hands, he merged with Mount Sumeru and became the embodiment of Buddhism. At this moment, he was not just an individual, but the boundless magical power of the entire Western Desert was at his disposal.
Lin Xian's confidence swelled to an unparalleled degree, and he could even sense the aura within the Eastern Wilderness Forbidden Zone, causing his perspective to undergo a dramatic change.
A colossal golden statue rises from the sea of merit, bathed in the light of faith. As far as the eye can see, there is the Great Thunder Temple, which is as tall as Mount Sumeru!
The once arrogant and domineering Peacock King couldn't help but tremble, because her enormous body was lifted up by the Dharma body of the future Buddha.
"Namo Amitabha!"
"Namo Future Buddha!"
The Buddhist monks and nuns, whether ancient Buddhas or ordinary believers, were completely driven mad by this scene and couldn't help but prostrate themselves in worship. Their great compassion and power touched everyone.
Let alone saints, even quasi-emperors are insignificant in front of him. That vast ocean of blood energy and vitality is definitely at the level of an emperor!
Before him, everyone's souls began to tremble. The last time this happened was when they saw the Demon Emperor Xue Yueqing, who looked down on ants like a true dragon.
"Amitabha Buddha, Great Emperor!"
Tears welled up in the eyes of the Great Peacock King. Why was this happening? Could it be that Lin Xian was the reincarnation of Amitabha Buddha?
It seems that only in this way can the Vajra Pestle, the Bodhi Tree, and the Relics all acknowledge Lin Xian.
The moment the Buddha appeared, its aura of supreme compassion and divine holiness touched everyone. All living beings in the entire Western Desert Buddhist Land were awakened, bowing towards Mount Sumeru and offering their faith and spiritual power, creating a thunderous roar that has resonated for eternity. This was the result of deliberate control; if it could, the Buddha could have spread its radiance across the entire Big Dipper at any time.
However, doing this will definitely wake up many people.
I really want to slap him.
Lin Xian transformed into a great Buddha, holding the relic in his hands, and entered a state of divine and self-gazing. He looked down at the Big Dipper from the perspective of the Amitabha Buddha Emperor, observed the forbidden zone, and sensed the endless magical power within his body, as if it could shatter the universe. A sense of suicidal thoughts arose spontaneously.
The ancient forbidden zone exuded an abyss-like aura. In its deepest part, there was a monster covered in red hair and a woman in white bound by divine golden chains. Suddenly, there was a clattering sound. She turned around abruptly and met Lin Xian's gaze. Her eyes were incredibly deep, not confused.
Lin Xian immediately shifted his gaze, avoiding eye contact with the Empress for fear of provoking something. Instead, he looked towards the Primordial Ancient Mine, where he saw layer upon layer of imperial formations, at least thirty or forty layers in total. The thirty-three imperial formations were intertwined and chaotic, evolving into chaotic energy that obscured all time.
"That's insane. The place where more than thirty great emperors have lived, even if it's just a little bit of accumulation, is enough to defy the heavens."
Lin Xian sighed. Even now, with seven ancient emperors having left the Primordial Ancient Mine, there are still six or seven slumbering, which is incredibly terrifying.
Next, he looked at the Divine Ruins. The number of Supreme Beings was astonishing, with five Imperial Auras lurking there. If you count the two Holy Spirits that the Azure Emperor had killed, there were seven Supreme Beings in this forbidden zone.
The Immortal Mausoleum was similar to the Divine Ruins, with only five or six people there. However, the Celestial Realm had an unusually large number of people, with eight or nine auras, second only to the Primordial Ancient Mine.
Finally, the Undying Mountain and the Reincarnation Sea are the weakest, each with only two or three people. The Undying Mountain, in particular, if we exclude the Peacock Emperor and the soon-to-be-deceased Black Tortoise Emperor, is the only one with real fighting power—the Stone Emperor.
"Things seem to be better than I expected."
Lin Xian couldn't help but sigh. Stepping into the forbidden zone with the Buddha's Dharma Eye, he could glimpse its true nature. The pressure on the path to immortality might not be as fast as he had anticipated. The sudden emergence of thirty-four supreme beings was the worst possible outcome.
In fact, there are quite a few supreme beings like Xuanwu Emperor who are old and about to pass away naturally. For example, it is said that Yama, the King of the Underworld, is about to pass away. He does not intend to launch a dark upheaval to prolong his life, but instead wants to bury his body again and form a second reincarnation seal.
This is also one of the reasons why the forbidden areas of the underworld are not located in the Big Dipper constellation; they have their own path to immortality and methods of achieving longevity.
Furthermore, there should be a human emperor in the Primordial Ancient Mine, who, like the Myriad Dragon Emperor, has been lying dormant until now and has never launched a dark upheaval. These emperors, who survived by severing their own lives, are not afraid of death, but rather are unwilling to accept their fate and want to see the path to immortality.
Even if the Heavenly Court fails to win over a supreme being who is single-mindedly focused on becoming an immortal, he wouldn't necessarily cause trouble for the mortal realm.
Upon closer examination, only about half of the Dark Lords truly need to be eradicated.
"Recruit some, attack others, and divide others. Besides the Seven Primordial Emperors, there are also supreme beings like the Human Emperor. We need to visit all seven forbidden zones of life and take another look."
As Lin Xian was deep in thought, she suddenly felt an unbearable itch in her hand. She opened her palm and saw a small white bird. Upon closer inspection, it was a peacock, small and exquisite, quite cute.
When you are strong enough, all the enemy's attacks will seem like a form of coquetry.
"So this is the demeanor of an emperor, this is the magnanimity of a supreme being."
Lin Xian smiled knowingly. If an enemy can never pose the slightest threat to him in his entire life, then what's wrong with letting him go? In the eyes of an emperor, all these things are just an interesting game.
Fortunately, Lin Xian is not an emperor; he is only a quasi-emperor and is rather narrow-minded.
With the help of my great magical power, I placed a swastika mark between the eyebrows of the Great Peacock King, replacing the Buddha character of Amitabha Buddha, as a new restriction.
"You wretched creature, submit now!"
Lin Xian gave a soft shout, and the golden Buddha statue, which was as tall as Mount Sumeru and reached into the clouds, turned into light and dissipated, leaving behind a group of monks who were filled with regret.
The Great Peacock King let out a mournful cry. His primordial spirit wanted to resist, but his physical body was unable to control him and lowered its head, now serving the Buddha with the same devotion.
"The future Buddha is also a Buddha; don't treat the prince like an official."
"Even if the peacock clan are elders of Buddhism, they should still be reprimanded."
Lin Xian smiled slightly, holding the Vajra Pestle in his hand, with the relic on his head, and mounted the crystal-clear white peacock, flying towards the summit of Mount Sumeru.
The gates of the Great Thunderclap Temple suddenly opened, and the Buddhas who had entered rose to greet them. Unlike their previous casualness, they were now orderly, as if they were holding some kind of sacred ceremony.
Eight hundred celestial maidens showered down fairy flowers, and the singing and dancing were in full swing; the four Vajra Kings stood solemnly, guarding the temple; the guardian deities, including the Eastern King Dhritarashtra, the Southern King Virudhaka, the Western King Virupaksha, and the Northern King Vaishravana, all bowed and paid their respects.
The golden-bodied Arhat chanted the true scriptures, his head radiating light. The heavenly Bodhisattvas held seven treasures in their hands, were they the most divine and holy? Several ancient Buddhas also paid homage with great respect. Their status was so noble that even if they were to see a quasi-emperor, they would not need to do so in normal times.
However, this was not the end. Finally, an old ape with dazzling golden hair emerged from the Great Thunderclap Temple, with the Ancient Buddha of Maha beside him, holding a Buddha crown in his hand, exuding the aura of a great emperor.
"Excellent, excellent." The Fighting Buddha, who had been fighting all his life, now had a kind face and smiled slightly, saying, "When this humble monk entered Mount Sumeru back then, there was no such scene."
"The emergence of several quasi-emperors is a blessing for our Buddhist sect. May we all be of one mind." Maha Ancient Buddha sighed and offered the Buddha crown symbolizing the abbot of the Great Thunderclap Temple.
"There are no six ears here, so how could there be a disloyal heart?"
Lin Xian dismounted from the peacock, took the Buddha crown and put it on himself. Then he walked to the gate of the Great Thunderclap Temple, turned around, patted the peacock's feathers, and solemnly said, "I hereby confer upon the Great Peacock King the title of Equal Enlightenment Bodhisattva, the foremost among all Buddhas, and you shall pay him homage."
"Follow the law!"
The Victorious Fighting Buddha was the first to pay his respects, putting his palms together and bowing deeply. Immediately afterward, the Ancient Buddha Maha and the other ancient Buddhas solemnly paid their respects.
Then all the heavenly bodhisattvas, eight hundred arhats, great and small vajras, and all the gods and Dharma protectors felt it and bowed like wheat fields in the wind, shouting in unison: "We respectfully obey the decree of the Buddha of Mount Sumeru."
With the voices of ten thousand Buddhas resonating in unison and hearts in harmony, even the Great Thunderclap Temple radiates Buddhist light, illuminating countless mountains and rivers, truly making us the only supreme being in heaven and earth.
The white peacock transformed back into human form with a swirling light. The Peacock King, dressed in radiant white robes, had extremely complex eyes, yet he could only follow the others in bowing and mutter, "I will obey the Buddha's decree."
Lin Xian smiled slightly, not caring. He entered the Great Thunderclap Temple, sat on the Twelve-Petaled Lotus, and conferred the titles of Yan Ruyu and the Dragon Girl as unofficial Bodhisattvas, not entering the Tenth Ground.
At this point, all the Buddhas of Mount Sumeru secretly breathed a sigh of relief. This new Buddha hadn't acted too recklessly. They had thought the commotion earlier meant he was going to revise the teachings and have everyone go practice the Joyful Meditation.
However, Lin Xian's next words made everyone's hearts sink again.
Lin Xian looked around at all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, counting the Arhats, and then, feigning ignorance, asked with a puzzled expression, "Where is Bodhisattva An Miaoyi?"
