Chapter 281 Future Accusations
Chapter 281 Future Accusations
The Fifteenth Legion was already hurtling toward destruction.
These words kept echoing in Avida's ears.
At this point, Avida was completely silent.
Although he has not expressed his opinion yet, Avida has already made a decision in his heart. He is just thinking about what this decision will bring and how he will bear those consequences.
He also remembered that he was not the original Avida, but Asar.
He was afraid that if he continued to live as Avida and did what Qin Xia said, Avida's identity would be labeled as "traitor" and "accuser of the Primarch", which were negative names that were scary to think about.
But why did the original Avida gradually move towards the end?
The choice has been made.
But the fear is real.
There is no contradiction between the two.
"The ships have been arranged."
While Avida was silent, Thetis, the director of the Great Library, walked in, saluted Qin Xia and reported.
The captain helped coordinate a transport ship that would carry Avida away from the XII Legion's fleet and back to Prospero.
He has things he needs to face and deal with.
When his best brother swapped bodies with him, the mutation of flesh was no longer the threat he faced, but the crooked track the Legion was now racing on.
"..."
Qin Xia silently indicated to Tethys that he understood.
After Tethys left, Qin Xia said to Avida: "In fact, you have another choice, that is, you don't have to take the rise and fall of a legion on yourself. You are just an officer of the 15th Legion. 90% of the people in the legion have more say than you. If anyone must take responsibility and blame for the present and future of the 15th Legion, that person should not be you."
Qin Xia felt that if Avida could live safely, he would become the first Grand Master of the Grey Knights.
That's good.
"Then why did you take on all this?" Avida suddenly asked back, "Although you have a high say in the 12th Legion, why did you have to stop all those terrible things about the Warp by yourself? From the beginning, you tried to let us know the dangers of the Warp. You obviously wanted to help us avoid disaster."
Hearing this question, Qin Xia looked thoughtful.
But in fact, he had thought about the answer countless times.
"I have seen the light of the present, so I fear and hate the darkness of the future." Qin Xia replied.
Avida nodded silently and then stood up.
Qin Xia also stood up to see him off.
The captain of the transport ship was already waiting outside the library. He was about to take Avida and the sailors from the destroyed cruisers away from here and return to the 15th Legion.
Qin Xia stopped in front of the library and the central transport channel of the ship.
Avida also stopped and turned slowly.
What had just been discussed was not suitable to be revealed directly in front of so many people, so Avida changed his words.
"Now I am also a member of the Association for the Study of Human History," he said.
This expresses the position and determination. Avida has already determined that he will accuse Magnus in the future. What he is worried about now is whether Qin Xia will change his mind, so he wants to confirm it now.
Qin Xia stood with his hands behind his back, smiled and nodded.
Avida set out on his journey home.
Looking at the other person's back, Qin Xia wondered when the Emperor, who already knew about the affairs of Avida and others, would attack the Fifteenth Legion.
He obviously couldn't think of a conclusion, and could only hope that the emperor, who liked to play big chess, would make his move quickly.
……
After seeing Avida off, Qin Xia went to the flagship, Unwavering Determination.
When the Lord of the White Knights entered the command deck in the normal manner, he saw that Angron and the gladiators were also present, and they were all fully armed.
Their bodies were covered in the beautiful fluorescent blood of the aliens, obviously they had just killed a lot of people on the planet, and their return also meant the end of the war below.
When Qin Xia entered the deck, the gladiators noticed him.
But no one said hello, because the atmosphere on the command deck was not suitable for greeting.
Yochula and the others nodded in greeting, and Qin Xia stepped forward.
Angron was grabbing an alien by the neck, roaring angrily.
"How dare you send someone to beg for mercy from me! How dare you!"
Angron grabbed the alien's head with his big hand, and the three-meter-tall alien was dragged to the porthole by the Primitive like a light inflatable toy.
After a muffled sound, the alien's head was pressed against the porthole.
The alien saw that half of the world below was burning, and the battleships were using orbital bombardment to finish off the battle.
"Watch your kind shiver in the bunker, and then be vaporized along with the bunker by the light spear!"
"This is the punishment your entire species has suffered!"
Angron said as he gently pressed the alien's head against the porthole. The Primarch slowly let go amid the sound of bones breaking, while the alien stuck to the porthole in a semi-comatose state.
No one on the command deck said anything, for this was the first time they had seen Angron so angry.
Angron had been furious after feeling the suffering of the humans in the world below, so he issued an extermination order, but he soon calmed down.
The anger now came from seeing the human condition on the surface with my own eyes and feeling again the emotions of those in the concentration camps called ranches.
"Will this planet still be habitable?" Qin Xia walked to the window and looked outside.
Spears of light are constantly falling on the surface of the planet's southern hemisphere.
Angron took a deep breath and calmed himself down: "Humans cannot survive in those bombed places. Those aliens have a virus targeting humans. They released the virus when the city fell. Except for the deserts and primeval forests in the northern hemisphere, other places are forbidden areas." Qin Xia nodded helplessly.
“Where’s the resistance leader?” Angron turned to the group. “I want to see him.”
The local human soldier who had come to the flagship earlier stood up.
And before he could speak, Angron learned the fate of the resistance leader.
When the leader of the resistance army learned that the human empire's army had arrived and was about to crush the aliens, he became too excited and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died.
The soldier also found out when he returned to the resistance gathering place to convey the news.
Angron learned all this from the soldier's heart, and sat in a chair in a trance, closing his eyes and mourning for the leader.
"You don't look sad at all." Yochula turned to the soldier and asked.
The soldier shrugged calmly. "This is how people here are. We live to be 20 or 30 years old, and then die. If I hadn't asked you about your lifespan just now, I would have thought that our race lived to be in their twenties, their bodies rotted, they became blind, and then died one day."
Everyone on the command deck was silent.
After a moment, Qin Xia said to the soldiers, "The reason you are short-lived is because of a genetic defect that was artificially designed, which makes your body unable to regulate itself. For example, your blood pressure, I found that you are in a state of extremely high blood pressure. It is a miracle in biological science that you are still alive today."
"Then is there any hope for us?" the soldier asked, "or for the next generation?"
Qin Xia nodded without even thinking about it.
There is no doubt that there is salvation.
He could detect that the locals were not cursed by demons, and there was no metaphysical element to their health problems.
To put it bluntly, it's like a game that Qin Xia once played, where a person was genetically modified by aliens and had "delicious" traits added to him. As long as the genetic technology is advanced enough, these traits can be removed and the person can be changed back to normal.
As long as there is no metaphysical element in the genetic defect, it will be easy to deal with. Otherwise, even the emperor will find it difficult to save it.
"But we need time. We will take some of you away to a place with highly developed biotechnology." Qin Xia said, "Then before we leave, we will distribute a drug that can temporarily improve your physical condition so that you can live until the day you receive genetic modification."
There was no light in the soldier's cloudy eyes, but he was indeed happy.
Qin Xia continued, "Then this planet will be brought under the rule of Angron, the 12th Primarch of the Human Empire. You locals will need to pay taxes, provide personnel to join the navy or army, and undergo rigorous selection and training to become Space Marines. This is what you need to accept."
The soldier cannot make decisions. He is just an ordinary soldier who was assigned a mission before the arrival of the XII Legion to secretly go to where the Space Marines are and deliver the message.
But there are some things that even the most ordinary people can figure out.
The people on this planet already knew about the Emperor and the Empire, and were hoping to be rescued, so they had no objection to accepting the Empire's rule.
"You are very lucky." Qin Xia looked at Angron. "The Primarch can empathize with the suffering of others, so he will not be too harsh on you, and will not exploit the resources and wealth of your planet. He will bring effective rule, order, and wise management."
Angron, who had just experienced pain and anger, was a little tired, and he forced a smile at the soldier.
The soldier smiled back.
……
Inside the White Knight laboratory.
Sisters Qin Xia and Olina, Brown and Quadrant are researching drugs that can alleviate the physical condition of the locals.
Angron was also in the lab, looking around but not participating in the work.
Everyone except Quadrant did just a few more things than Angron, and Quadrant was the only one present who had a deep understanding of biology, so he was the main force in the research.
"The health of the locals is not optimistic. Even if I change their physical condition, their body structure will not be able to adapt."
"The best I can do is extend the lifespan of the locals a little bit, until they can accept genetic modification. But the prerequisite is that Nuxing has a way to change their genes within two years."
Quadrant theory.
After hearing his words, everyone felt that as long as it could be delayed for one year, it would be enough. Even if the level of biotechnology on Nu Star could not completely change the genetic problems of the local people within a year, it could at least extend the lifespan of the local people until the day when the change could be made.
"I really don't understand what the people of the 15th Legion are thinking." Brown handed the test tube to Quadrant. "They rely so much on witchcraft."
Qin Xia just briefly explained what he had done before and told him about Avida's attempt to use alien witchcraft technology to treat Asar.
"Let's change the question. Why did humans in the Golden Age rely so much on subspace technology?" Qin Xia said.
Angron was intrigued by the question and looked immediately at Brown, waiting for his answer.
Brown thought about it and said, "Because subspace technology can even reverse entropy."
A simple sentence can explain humanity's previous reliance on subspace technology.
"The Fifteenth Legion feels similar to the humans of the past. The subspace is too friendly and easy to use for them, and only occasionally a little danger will pop up and give them a blow." Qin Xia said.
However, Brown felt that the two could not be confused, otherwise he would not have been confused by the behavior of the 15th Corps.
Humans back then were aware of the dangers of the subspace.
Just like the rules and regulations in all human production activities, the understanding of the subspace is paved with corpses.
When humans first created the Warp Engine and put it into use, the horrific events that occurred on that experimental ship and the crew's horrific experiences made humans realize how dangerous the Warp was, and they invented the Geller Stand.
The Fifteenth Legion was different. Their exploration of the Warp was extremely reckless.
Before Brown expressed his disagreement, Qin Xia spoke again: "They are struggling, struggling because of the tragedy caused by their own mistakes. How can a living thing calmly accept its own fate of extinction?"
Hearing this, Angron nodded in agreement.
The Primarch met Arvida and Asar only a few times, but every time he saw them he could feel something hidden deep in their hearts.
An extreme desire to be rescued, a desire to find a solution to the problem, and an absolute unwillingness to struggle.
After realizing that he was talking about something that could not possibly be answered, Brown changed the subject: "What should we do when we return to Nuxing? Lord Brown can prepare a schedule for you."
"To bring about a transformation for Nu, the star systems surrounding Nu, and the Twelve Legions," Angron said. "They will all be transformed after we arrive at Nu. I have been planning this day and night for a long, long time, from before the Battle of Onus until now."
"Well... is there a mysterious button on Nu Star that will change everything when pressed?" Brown asked curiously.
"No." Angron shook his head slightly and looked at Qin Xia, "But he has everything I need to make changes."
