Chapter 302: Planning the nesting dolls
Chapter 302: Planning the nesting dolls
"That being said, I don't want to persuade you anymore."
Kelber got up from the iron bed and stood on the floor.
Qin Xia also stood up from the chair: "Same here."
"Now I will write a personal letter, in which I admit that I conducted a failed ancient relic collection operation on Nu Star, and declare that this was my mistake. It was not an assassination attempt, and the Mechanicus will not attempt any similar actions again in the future." Kelbo said calmly.
Qin Xia nodded.
Anyway, the Mechanicus realized through this incident that it could not infiltrate Nu Star, but Kelber's public admission had a better effect.
Kelber continued, "Then you sign the order to release me, and I will leave with my fleet."
Qin Xia was hesitant at this time, wondering whether he should kill Kelbo after Kelbo confidently carried out his multi-layered plan.
At this point, Qin Xia could also see that Kelbo came to Nukeria with a purpose similar to that of a nesting doll.
At first, it was thought that Kelbo came for the ancient technological creation, and only wanted to test Nu Star's defense and anti-infiltration capabilities while he was in charge and could ensure the safety of his own people.
Then Kelber was very happy to be arrested, and Angron thought that the other party wanted to make a big deal out of it and create a conflict between the Empire and the Mechanicus.
But in reality, Kelbor just wanted to find an occasion where the Forge General and the Primarch Guide could meet reasonably and discuss opposing the Emperor together.
In this nesting doll-like plan, Kelbo really dared to gamble and put himself in a situation where he was completely controlled by others.
If we take action here, we can definitely kill Kelbo.
"This is your last chance to kill me after our disagreement," Kelber said suddenly. "Am I a participant in the crisis you think you saw? If I were you, I would kill myself."
Qin Xia looked at Kelbo calmly, not distracted by this sentence. He was just thinking about the consequences of taking action and determining whether he could bear the consequences.
Forge-General Kelbor was not the Emperor of Mars. He essentially represented a Martian group. So after Kelbor was killed, whether to take things to an irreconcilable point with the Empire depended on the outcome of the discussions among the high-level Martians who held different opinions.
But Qin Xia felt that if Kelbo was killed, Mars would go to war with the Empire.
If Kelbor really was insignificant, if the factions on Mars that opposed the Emperor were insignificant and a minority...how could Kelbor have become the Forge-General of Mars?
Even the sinister Malcador did not try to trip up Kelber or assassinate him. This can only mean that the Emperor and Malcador believed that Kelber becoming the Fabricator-General of Mars would bring more stability than not becoming a Fabricator-General, making it more likely that humans would survive safely until the end of the Great Crusade and the completion of the Webway Project.
But what if Kelbor must be killed?
The Emperor has a plan for civil war between Mars and the Empire. The First Legion will activate a plan called Ikaros to prevent the Mechanicus from getting out of control...
Thinking of this, Qin Xia suddenly remembered that the First Legion should already be on the way to the Randan Empire.
Then I thought of Kelber coming to Nuceria during this period...
If this was a coincidence... it would be great if it was a coincidence... because that would at least mean that Kelber didn't know about the secret plans made by the Emperor.
"If I kill you, there will still be Kelbo No. 1 and No. 2, not to mention that I don't know whether your real body is here, and whether I can kill you." Qin Xia shook his head indifferently.
In Qin Xia's psychic vision, Kelbo in front of him was completely blurry. Obviously, he was protected by something that could block psychic vision.
"Thank you for at least talking to me." Kelbo saluted with the gear.
"Then you will leave? Just leave in disgrace? Don't you, the Mechanicus, have any respect? Now that the Forge General has been arrested, are you just going to let this matter go?" Qin Xia asked.
"Face?" Kelber was in a daze for a moment before answering, "That kind of illusory and meaningless thing that is produced by biological nature is something that only people like my apprentice would pursue."
Qin Xia's eyes were complicated.
"And we have experienced even greater humiliation," Kelbor said, "on the day when the prophet in my story came, when the people in my story succumbed to the psychic bewitchment of that prophet."
Qin Xia wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say. In the end, he just responded to Kelbo's words with silence.
"When the day comes that I can leave..." Kelbo raised his hand and pointed to the quadrant, "Let Irka take me there."
……
after a while.
Quadrant returned to the interrogation room with the release order.
Kelbohar was lying on an iron bed, having the previously removed modified parts installed on him by the handsome and beautiful Mechanicus monks Zeth and Kane.
Those modified parts were all dismantled by others under the remote guidance of Quadrant.
Kelbo was silent until the moment all the modified parts on his body were put back in place.
Zes walked to the door with his long legs and stood leaning against the wall.
Every second, a stream of steam would puff out from Szeth's metal visor, like his breath.
“……” Kelbo stood up without saying a word and walked out of the interrogation room.
The Mechanicus were accompanied by their Forge-Generals.
The Space Marines and Nuxing security personnel no longer intercepted.
When Kelber reached the elevator door, he turned to the others and said, "Take the next elevator."
The entourage performed the gear salute.
The elevator door opened, Kelber walked into the elevator, and ordered Quadrant, "Come up."
Quadrant hesitated for a moment, but finally followed him up.
The elevator began to move upwards.
Kelber looked from head to toe at the quadrant.
Quadrant lowered his head and allowed his instructor to observe him, then heard his instructor's comments.
"It seems that your technology has improved a lot. Implants, bionics, neurology... From the perspective of these three disciplines, I can give you a nearly perfect evaluation."
"But these three subjects are not your best."
"You are best at machines, turning people into machines, or creating a mechanical life out of thin air... which is forbidden by the Emperor." Kelber's voice was filled with joy.
He saw the progress of the Quadrant during the time they hadn't met.
Quadrant created a body that can be replaced at will. His crude voice-generating device is not limited by his technical level, but it deliberately wants to imitate a mechanical and stereotyped tone.
This is different from the impression that the Quadrant gives to others... The Quadrant advocates biological nature and does not agree with complete transformation.
But Quadrant had to do this to feel at ease. This infinitely cold and clumsy mechanical body was a form of self-protection. Otherwise, during the more than ten years he and Kelber had been together, it would not have been as simple as having his biological organs removed one by one.
“Being good at something is not the same as liking it,” said Quadrant.
"Being good at something... Being good at something is a precious quality bestowed upon us by the God of All Things. He enables us to become geniuses in certain areas, bringing about technological advancements that others cannot even imagine in their dreams."
Kelber began to preach.
"You are not qualified to choose what you like. You can only choose what you are good at, because this is the correct way to use the blessing of the God of All Machines. Otherwise, it would be ignoring and wasting the grace of the God of All Machines. This is a huge blasphemy. If you were not lucky enough to become Kelbor Har's apprentice, you would have been turned into a mechanical servant who could neither live nor die."
"I thought that when you were exiled from Mars and endured the suffering outside of Mars, and witnessed the stupidity brought about by biological nature, you would realize your mistakes and reflect deeply from the bottom of your heart, and then return to Mars through devout prayers and confession of mistakes, and continue to use your talents..."
"But you are assimilated into stupidity among a group of stupid people."
Kelber spoke more and more fluently, and even started to insult others.
"A fool who worries about the coming crisis all day long, a former slave of a slave owner and now a slave of a super slave owner's slave... Coming to the Twelve Legions under their jurisdiction is the biggest mistake you have ever made, just as stupid as your rebellion against me."
Quadrant's head made an eye-rolling motion, but the motion seemed to be only a slight turn backwards and away.
"In my opinion, the Primarch Guide is wiser than you. He can really see the crisis and is willing to sacrifice his life for irrelevant people in order to resolve the crisis." said Quadrant.
"What did you say?" Kelber looked towards the quadrant.
"I said they are also very wise and noble." Quadrant instinctively gave in.
"It's the same misconception as always." Kelber shook his head helplessly, "Stupidity is your greatest weakness."
The elevator continued upward.
Quadrant really doesn't want to talk to the tutor anymore.
He originally wanted to greet his mentor, just to say hello politely, and to learn about what had happened on Mars recently, but in the blink of an eye, his mentor had become a casting general.
But now he didn't want to say hello at all. He just wanted to get his mentor onto the ship as soon as possible and let the people at the starport get the entire fleet out.
"for you."
Kelber suddenly took out a box with the Mechanicus logo printed on it.
Quadrant recognized that it was a locking system terminal that could be used to connect to the locking systems of many creations. Only the holder could unlock the lock on the terminal.
"What is this?" asked Quadrant.
"This is an item that will allow you to continue being stupid in a group of idiots." Kelber said coldly, "This terminal uses whitelist control. You are the only name on the whitelist. Connect your shit-soaked brain to it and see what it is connected to."
"Oh, Oh Messiah... You and the Lord of the White Knights must have something in common." Quadrant raised the terminal helplessly, and a mechanical arm pulled out a cable from behind his head and connected it to the terminal.
Quadrant saw the information inside the terminal.
That was a list of battleships.
Twenty-three cruisers.
Forty frigates.
There are ten other ships similar to cruisers, but with more powerful firepower and heavier armor.
The types of these warships are actually not unified. For example, there are many branches under the cruiser classification. These branches have their own strengths in design, but they are generally called cruisers.
"These... these warships are enough to form a simple fleet." Quadrant unplugged the connection line and looked at the instructor in surprise.
"Yes." Kelber nodded. "Since you have decided to stay in the 12th Legion, then as my apprentice, you cannot be a lackey who can be summoned and dismissed at will. You should be a representative of the Mechanicus stationed in the legion in charge of logistical tasks."
As he spoke, Kelbo looked at the terminal in Quadrant's hand and said, "These warships I collected from all over the world will become your capital, your confidence, and your stepping stone."
"Thank you." Quadrant placed the encrypted terminal into the storage compartment.
The grateful quadrant recalled the relationship between himself and his mentor... That's how a mentor is. When you completely hate him, there are always some things about him that you can't hate, but when you completely admire him, there are always some things about him that make you hate him.
Kelber nodded.
However, the idea of this forging general was not entirely for his apprentice's position in the legion, but if these warships could be indirectly taken over by the 12th Legion, it would be a gesture and a beginning.
Even though outsiders might think that this was compensation after the Casting General's public explanation and apology, it didn't matter... If the 12th Legion accepted it this time, it would accept it more times.
As Kelbo was lost in thought, the elevator reached the surface.
Kelber walked forward in silence.
"Mentor." Quadrant called from behind.
Kelber stopped and looked back at Quadrant. Thinking of the time he had spent with this apprentice, and most importantly: the benefits and help this apprentice could bring to him... Kelber wanted to say something, and finally try to see if he could pull Quadrant back to Mars to work for him.
But when the words came to my lips, I felt that it was impossible for Quadrant to return to Mars, so forget it.
Kelbo looked at the Quadrant and felt that the Quadrant's call was a farewell, so he raised his hand and waved, indicating that the Quadrant could go back.
"The helipad is over there." The quadrant pointed in the opposite direction of where Kelber was.
